Ephesians 1:4, we were chosen by God before the foundation of the world, this declaration transports us to a dimension that transcends time and space, before any star shone in the sky, there was already a perfect plan drawn up by a sovereign God who decided to love, adopt and include flawed human beings in his eternal story. God’s choice did not depend on merit, but on grace, a grace that precedes any of our actions. When Paul reveals this mystery, he is showing you that the origin of your faith, is not in a human decision, but in a divine decree. This truth confronts you with the reality that you belong to something much greater than your biography can express.

You were desired by God with a specific purpose, to be holy and blameless before him and this holiness does not refer to human perfection, but to a spiritual separation that can only occur, when you understand that your story begins in the heart of God. The feeling of abandonment, insignificance and lack of purpose that so many carry, can be profoundly healed by this revelation. Knowing that you were thought of by God, even before creation, is a direct response to the pain of rejection that marks so many journeys.

You are not the result to chance, nor the outcome of a mistake or accident along along the way, you are part of an eternal plan which already saw you as a child, even before your parents thought about having children. This completely transforms the way you see yourself, if you were chosen with so much love, who are you now? Ephesians 2:6, your true identity is not in what you do, but in who you become by being united with Jesus. You were raised with Christ and seated with him in the heavenly realms, this is not poetic metaphor, it is a spiritual reality that redefines everything.

Many live trapped by labels imposed by the world, failure, rejected, insecure, useless, but the Bible offers you a new narrative, a new way to see yourself, in Christ, you are beloved children, heirs, temples of the Holy Spirit, part of a heavenly body. This is not an identity earned, but granted and to ignore it, is to live below what has been prepared for you. Ignorance of who you are in Christ, is one of the greatest spiritual prisons of our time, understanding this identity changes your choices, your re-actions and even your prayers.

When you know that you are heirs, you pray boldly. When you know that you are forgiven, you walk lightly. When you know that you are loved, you love with more freedom. This understanding is not theoretical, it shapes your daily life, Jesus not only saved you, he re-positioned you, and this new position brings a new way of living, and as you realize who you really are in Christ, you are led to one of the greatest gifts connected to this identity, forgiveness and redemption.

The thing (I think?) you need to remember, is that faith is a tapestry that the Holy Spirit weaves together. We don't really see our faith at work, until we see where it coincides with the Holy Spirit.

It is coinciding with the Holy Spirit more, that we need, not personal strength to go it alone.

Building up the body of Christ as a new temple and we are all becoming a new humanity with Jesus as the head, challenging every Christian to take off their old humanity like a set of old clothes and to put on their new humanity in which the image of God is being restored.
