Romans 3:23, Paul summarizes humanity’s deepest problem, one that affects every person, regardless of age, culture or background, sin isn’t just an abstract concept or a list of bad behaviors. Sin is a condition, a brokenness at the very core of humanity, Paul paints a vivid picture of humanity’s descent into sin and idolatry in Romans chapter 1, he describes how people turned away from God, worshiping created things, rather than the creator. This wasn’t just a failure in worship, it was a rebellion against God’s purpose for humanity.

When people worship idols, whether physical objects, power status or personal freedom, they place something else at the center of their lives, instead of God. Paul explains, that this misalignment affects every part of human existence, leading to brokenness in relationships, morality and even within yourself. Sin isn’t just about wrong actions, it’s about a deep separation from God, this separation impacts every aspect of who you are, it leads you away from God’s design and brings confusion, selfishness and despair. Paul’s description of sin may sound intense, but he’s not exaggerating, he’s showing you the truth of humanity’s need for a savior.

Romans 3:10-12, this might seem harsh, but Paul isn’t condemning humanity, he’s diagnosing the problem. Paul’s point is that sin isn’t just a series of mistakes you can make up for by being better, sin is a condition that separates you from God, leaving you in need of rescue. The reality of sin might be one of the hardest teachings in Romans, yet it’s one of most necessary, in our modern world, where people often place emphasis on self-help, improvement and self-acceptance, the concept of sin can seem out of place, but Paul’s teaching on sin, confronts you with an uncomfortable truth, there’s a part of you that can’t be fixed by effort alone, there’s a part of your nature that only God’s grace can heal.

In a culture that teaches you to be your own saviors, Paul reminds you, that you need a savior who is far greater than yourself. Sin is more than just an individual problem, it’s a force that affects families, societies and even entire nations, you see the effects of sin every day in your world, the conflicts, the injustice, the selfishness and the indifference toward others. Paul’s description of sin might seem ancient, but it’s incredibly relevant, the same brokenness he observed in the Roman Empire is still evident today, proving that humanity hasn’t outgrown its need for redemption.

My view is that we simply need a new earth and a new heaven, with the most righteous people to lead humanity.

In my opinion, the gospel cannot save this world.
Even if you want to help the poor, you need money to do so—it’s a deadly cycle of this world.
I’m not criticizing anything; it’s just that every one of us is deeply trapped in it. We need the kingdom of heaven, we need God’s authority, and we need God’s personal guidance.
