In 2015, my kids' teachers kept them inside at their school because a mountain lion was in the parking lot. :Ohz:oops:

That's insane. Maybe waiting to pounce on a child. And you guys think Australia is bad. We don't have wild cats or bears that will hunt down a person to eat

While the Mountain Lions and coyotes can be dangerous, the black bears in our suburban foothills mind their own business, not bothering humans. The bears often go into the swimming pools and hot tubs or try to rummage through the trash cans.

This was P-22, our famous Mountain Lion, who made his home in our huge wilderness Griffith Park (city park). He died a few years ago.

He's in front of the Hollywood Sign. I can see the sign in the distance from my neighborhood.

Los Angeles constructed a gigantic wildlife crossing over one of the freeways... it's almost finished and made with private donations.

Brief video.

That is not really true because we have crocs that will stalk their next meal if it is too close to the bank, including humans as well.

This video still makes me lol. I'm sorry but I can't help but lol.

This elderly couple was visiting their family in Pasadena from Scotland. They were totally oblivious that a bear was on the porch with them!

Check out the comments alongside the video...they are quite funny. @Armour of God

I said we don't have wild cats or bears that will hunt down humans to eat.
Off course we still have other animals that will hunt and kill humans to eat. Crocodiles, sharks and dingo's. So beware

Not bothering humans unless their hungry or startled...

I think it's safer taking a walk in the Aussie bush than in the North American forrest.

The bears in the wilds are dangerous especially Grizzlies. But our suburban bears are used to people so usually don't bother people. Did you watch the video of the two elderly people with the bear on the porch with them?

By suburban bears I mean the ones who wander around streets with homes.

I watched it. I still wouldn't be getting close to one. Our suburban mammals are kangaroos and koalas. Your suburban mammals are mountain lions and bears. That's insane

No, just clearing up your misinterpretation.

I was focused upon the fact that we too in Australia have animals that will kill and consume you given the chance. The type of animals that will, was really irrelevant to what I had posted. Your response was to make the optics of what you had posted previously, better, by suggesting that I had overlooked an irrelevant part of your previous post with respect to what I had posted. You had ignored the dreaded drop bears that Aussies like to scare visitors, to our country, with, because their falling could cause serious problems when they fall flat.

Well the city has encroached upon their territory. But the coyotes are seen more often and even in the "real" city. People have to be careful of walking their dogs.

Aussie humour. Drop bears are koalas that supposedly will fall out of trees upon the visitors who have fallen to the story.

We have koala bears, technically their not bears, but they aren't always as cute and cuddly as they seem. Sometimes if you walk under their tree they will drop down onto people in a furious rage and attack you with their razor sharp claws and K9 teeth. They have been known to slice open peoples necks and kill them. It happens most often to unsuspecting visitors from overseas who arent looking out for them and dont know how to defend against them. The Australian government keeps it top secret as to not scare away visitors from overseas.
Isn't that right @Jay Ross , tell her.

Wow, really?! I had no idea...or are you pulling my leg?

I've seen videos of people giving thirsty koalas (due to the fires) a drink from a water bottle or wrapping up one to take to a veterinarian.

Yea but they are very territorial during the breeding season or when mummy has a joey to protect

Hey @Debp im just kidding :jest:
It's just a well known joke that Aussies like to make visitors believe :Laughingoutloud:
I started feeling bad about pulling your leg so I had to give in and admit the truth.
Those cute koalas wouldn't hurt a fly.

But check this out.
Where you live there are mountain lions perched in your trees.

For Australia, God created some of the most beautiful and colourful birds in the world to perch in our trees
eastern rosella.jpeg
Just take a close look at this Eastern Rosella above.
White, black, red, green, blue, yellow.
Have you ever seen so many colours on one bird? It's a spectacular sight to behold
crimson rosellas.jpeg
Crimson rosellas may have less colours than its eastern cousin but they have a striking colour combination which makes them equally as gorgeous in my opinion

To perch in Australia's trees, alongside the beautiful birds, God also created the cutest animal in the world....
mother-koala-bear-hugging-baby-in-eucalyptus-forest-at-sunset-photo.jpg
Is this the cutest animal on earth?
r60_0_854_749_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg
In my opinion it is the cutest creature that God created.

Glory be to God for creating such amazing creatures, not just here, but all over the world.
