Hi,

I was just checking on the Digital Storm website and I found this, apparently they are selling a $10,000 computer. This thing is a beast, I have never seen a computer this expensive before! I am not sure why it costs this much, the specs aren't really anything special. If you want to have a look link is here:

Interesting!

For the record:

The original Apple Lisa computer (also known as the Lisa 1), released on January 19, 1983, had a base launch price of $9,995.

This price included a 5 MB hard drive and was positioned as a high-end business machine with pioneering features like a graphical user interface (GUI) and mouse support—making it one of the first such systems aimed at personal/business users.

Hey on a whim I just got on the Digital Storm website and I upgraded all the hardware on the $10,000 computer as high as they could go, a 96-core 5.4 GHz AMD Threadripper CPU, 768 GB of RAM, and dual GeForce RTX 5090 32GB graphics cards. The total came out to nearly $70,000! This is a $70,000 computer! This is more expensive than a small house! This is insane! I am of the opinion that it would be morally wrong to buy something like this but it is nice to look at.

I checked CDW's website, and there are name-brand high-end workstations by HP and Lenovo that are even more than that.

The AMD Threadripper, 128 GB of RAM, and the high-end NVidia graphics card are probably a big chunk of the Digital Storm's cost, but it also has some bells and whistles like the RGB running lights that are somewhat frivolous.

That is so expensive. Who, in their right mind, will buy it?
High-end workstations like that are used for things like 8K video rendering, finite-element modeling, computer-aided design, and recently for local Artificial Intelligence. The target market is typically business and academia.

So why the RGB running lights? Is this really just a luxury gaming machine for overgrown kids with more money than sense?
