You're making an IDOL of Christ. Many artists portray historical figures in plausible ways, "based on a true story" not meaning every single dialogue is 100% verified. Most people know this.

The Chosen is not bringing anybody to the true, biblical Christ, but to a fictionalized version that bears little resemblance to the real Savior.

The gospels are not improved by adding a sense of humor to them.

Making an idol of Christ? This is blasphemy to say someone is making an idol of Christ, for Christ is God and far beyond any idol.

The gospel is not mere entertainment, it is the only road to eternal salvation.

in a neat, tidy Single Paragraph….

Because … so Many 20, 30, 40+ year olds are still living like spoiled teenagers … saying “I Want”… and it is provided without their Effort….

The establishment will never make such shows. So it gets a wider audience involved and talking. Thats when you can correct them about the true message of the gospel.

But I agree if they do make such shows they should be as close to the original words and events while having good acting and realism.

There use to be a time when biblical movies were all the rage even in hollywood. Not that a hollywood production was the right way to tell the story. But more importantly it was that bible and religious programs were popular and acceptable. It showed society was open to such beliefs.

So more shows like the Chosen and Gibsons Passion of the Christ ect and this is bringing back what use to be an acceptable part of art and religious expression. Instead of shutting it down and making it a fringe art that is taboo.

It at least goes part way to restoring some balance in the ideas and narratives being pushed in society that there is no God.

The artistic license was a bit too much for me because it distorted important truths. When Jesus was seen as needing a script from his disciple was troubling for me. C'mon! They turned Him into an actor! What does that say about this lord they are presenting? He's a total joke!
I also took issue with Thomas's wife dying and Jesus unable/refusing to help her. Again- who is that lord?

So I stopped watching it- There was zero reason to do those things. Filling in blanks would be hard- but there was no need to distort truths in that way. Maybe nocturnal emissions is where their brains are..
I then learned also that this guy is the son of the "left Behind" series heads- - Gee ..

I imagine it could help someone to be interested in learning more about the real Lord.. so I don't despise it's goal- but I can't
endorse it.

That’s my point; you’re treating Christ as an IDOL. Do you believe Jesus ONLY spoke the words captured in the Gospels? I do.

All dialog and narration is just the text of Matthew. They did the same with Luke and John.

This is the son of the fellow who wrote about someone having received the Mark of the Beast, then to be forgiven, the mark disappearing.

It's like they say . . . the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Maybe he learned this from his father . . . make it up, and sell it.

Accusing me of "making an idol of Christ" was rather revealing! Apparently he considers Christ to be not worthy of worship.

I keep telling others, their accusations say more about them selves than anyone else. We - ourselves - are revealed by our words.

Was the girl sleeping (or dead)?
Was Solomon’s temple re-built in 3 days?
Is cannibalism approved by God in the OT?
Is it reasonable to speak in parables and be frustrated people don’t get what is being said?
Is not answering a direct question directly consistent with telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

God / Christ do not LIE….Can Not Lie.

They Speaking the Spiritual Truth, without a comparison to the understanding of a mans “not-spiritual understanding”…
Frankly is too overwhelming for men…

Sleeping commonly, is resting without awareness of what is happening in this world..
While having an inclination, to wake and arise.

Mortally Dead Bodys, also are without awareness of what is happening in this world..
Also while having an inclination, to wake and arise.

The Temple was the only place where animal death sacrifices were made.

Christ Jesus, His Sacrifice, and rising up in 3 Days, is the Fulfillment He IS the New Temple.
And They “IN Christ” Are “IN the Temple / Church”.

Jesus Speaking IN…
Something called, Parables, Bedtime stories, Fables, Poems, whatever…
Is Totally Irrelevant… to anyone who Trusts to Believe, He IS the Truth, can Not Lie…
Regardless of what His speech is call, Everything He Speaks IS True.

The Father, Son, Prophets, Apostles….All had a hard Task…
Trying to Teach, Preach, Others to Believe IN Something, human men…
Can Not See
Can Not Hear
Can Not Smell
Can Not Taste
Can Not Touch
Can Not Feel

I've watched The Gospel According to Matthew a few times. It's pretty good, better than The Chosen at least.

I was checking out The Gospel of John and noticed Jesus is played by Henry Ian Cusick. I wouldn't be able to watch it without constantly thinking of Desmod from Lost, lol.
