Was the girl sleeping (or dead)?

According to who's perpective?

Not an answer to my question. But since you responded this way, this is the way liars respond. Any lie can be rationalized as, well, that was someone's perspective.

Truth is not a matter of perspective. I'm asking an objective question and you are responding AS IF it is a subjective question. I'm not asking about anyone's subjective perspective. You know that.

Since you can't answer simple yes or no questions yes or no, we're done.

There is the IDOLATRY again.
You don't have a clue what idolatry is.
IMO, the Bible is not written to be entertaining. It is foolish to:
  1. put it on par with entertainment
Who did that? You are a very confused person aren't you?
  1. (and here is where the IDOLATRY comes in)And hold it, by doctrinal decree, to be more entertaining than any other artwork man can produce.
You seem to focus on entertainment. The scriptures, whether in audio, written or video format are for life.
I did watch the boring production of the word for word John. By comparison, The Chosen has grossed over $280M, 70x more commercially successful than a verbatim of known information.
And Avatar made 2.9 BILLION, which is 10x that. It doesn't mean it's an accurate source for truth. Go google "argumentum ad populum"

I have watched all of the chosen so far. Here are the issues I have, which go beyond "artistic license"

1) Matthew as austistic
2) Mary Magdalene as a backslider
3) Nicodemus as being called to follow Jesus and refusing.
4)Peter viewing John the Baptist as "creepy John" (highly insulting)
5)Jesus refusing to heal Ramah (Thomas's fictional fiancé)
I've only watched little bits, and few of those.

I understand Nicodemas was portrayed as attempting and failing to cast demons from Mary.
That Peter was portrayed as having "ongoing tax issues" with Rome.
That Simon the Zealot was crippled, and Jesus refused to heal him.

I saw the "water to wine" scene, completely changed from involving the servants to being a private moment. The servants had personal knowledge of Jesus' miracle, but in The Chosen they do not.

Much love!

I mean, the poor guy doesn't even know who Jesus is. He thinks Jesus is a created being.

Obviously anyone who doesn't goose-step to your infallible understanding and Himalayan grandeur is obviously "poor" and in need of your direction.

If you think Jesus is a created being then ,yes, I can instruct you on who He is. I don't expect anyone to "goosestep" but if you don't think Jesus is the "I AM" then there is danger.

I've watched The Gospel According to Matthew a few times. It's pretty good, better than The Chosen at least.

I was checking out The Gospel of John and noticed Jesus is played by Henry Ian Cusick. I wouldn't be able to watch it without constantly thinking of Desmod from Lost, lol.
He does a good job of portraying Jesus. One of the best I have seen

If you refer to the 1964 film by Pasolini, I agree on it being really good.

Yes, Italian with English subtitles, by Pasolini, an atheist Marxist. I like it it the best, along with the Gospel of John film.

Here is the English version of Pasolini’s film.

I watched it. It was pretty good. The actress that played Mary was very good. The Gospel of John is still my all time fav though.

I talked with someone yesterday about The Chosen who never saw it. He was aware of it being a worldwide phenomenon and was intrigued to learn it was not really about Jesus but the fictional backstory of the Apostles Jesus chose and is mainly told in between known Biblical events. Unlike other works portraying Jesus as above it all, this really humanizes the man and explores the emotional depth of events Scripture glosses over.

And that naturally lead into what the creators of The Chosen want their story to lead to, the real Jesus and inspire people to actually read the accounts of the son of God in Scripture. Yea, Jesus told Peter to cast the net on the other side of the boat. The Chosen explores a fictional emotional impact of the event.

My best friend asked me to watch The Chosen with her about 6 weeks ago.

As someone who's taken a very long time to come around, perhaps my opinion doesn't count for much, but for me at least, the show has facilitated a deepening of my faith, despite some of its failings as others have pointed out. It did prompt me to read the Gospels again. I can see where the show has deviated, but the Gospels also make a lot more sense to me now, as I didn't understand the context of the times in which those events occurred and were written about.

I have mixed feelings about the show. On the one hand, it's very effective at delivering cathartic drama. The healings and miracles resonate with me in a way that they never did before, in large part because a context for the people's experiences has been provided. And the context of the times make sense to me now; seeing the Jewish traditions and the cultural tensions of Rome and Jerusalem enacted on the screen has really helped. And I appreciate its attempts to "answer" some of the "questions" I had about those times, like what sort of person Matthew might have had to have been to write down the entire Sermon on the Mount, or why Simon Peter would have described himself as being so sinful. Not to say that the depictions of the show are correct, just understandable.

Other questions, like why Thomas would have been so "doubting," seem to have been ham-fistedly put in place. Trying to come up with a plausible context for Thomas's doubt is obviously why the whole Ramah storyline was invented, but I found it unsatisfying. (I have other concerns about the Thomas storyline which I find more troubling.)

It seems to me that, as with everything in the secular world, we are provided opportunities to come closer to God or to move further away. Surely that has more to do with God's will, and the heart of the individual, than the material in question. Maybe the show prompted me to go back to the Gospels because in my heart I realized I needed to work on my relationship to Christ.
