Friends my younger sister is staying in rent in another state. Today she found the window glass broken. She says someone may be knowingly made the window glass broken to look through the window glass.
You can pray God , bless Margaret with a peace of mind, knowledge and wisdom in this situation. Let God send Angels and protect Margaret and keep her safe and sound. Let God cover Margaret and help Margarer as she needs Him.

Thank you!.

I am all for praying for this situation, but the Lord expects His children to take the initiative. The first thing she needs to do is go buy a gun that is small enough for her to handle. She should get lessons right away on how to manage the gun (guns are not hard to learn about). Also, you mentioned that you want us to pray for peace of mind, knowledge, wisdom. This is my pet peeve. Peace, knowledge, and wisdom come from an intense long-term study of the teachings of the Word. Reading the Bible is good for devotions, but she really needs is teachers who can teach the Word (those that God has gifted). Unfortunately churches don't practice that much. The sermon is usually a 30 minute monologue on some biblical principles, but not much in bringing a church member to maturity. This comes from studying the Word. There are way too many good resources out on the internet for her not to have access to them. Notice I said that a sermon is a 30 minute monologue. That's all Churches give today, on Sunday morning. 30 minutes a week, do you see something wrong with this? For serious students, I would recommend 2 hours a day, split it up if need be, so, get up an hour earlier and use that hour to count. After work and after dinner spend another hour in strong commentaries and video teachers. As you get more and more acclimated to the Word, you will feel like studying more than 2 hours a day. Then you can say with Paul as he did in Philippians 3.8:

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things (these include good things and bad things), and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Suggesting buying a gun within the Indian sub-continent culture, because that is the solution in the USA, is not an appropriate member's response.

My Dreams' request for prayers to strengthen Margret's faith and trust in the Lord requires our appropriate response to be a prayer of encouragement and a strengthening of her trust and faith in God. In many Asian and middle eastern countries, the church expands through tribulation because of the courage of the saints in those places to openly display their trust in God and in His promises. On the Indian sub-continent, it requires more faith in God than is needed in a relatively safe environment like the USA. Using the power of fear through having a gun is not God's way nor is it found within His culture.

Where are you getting this Indian subcontinent culture and Asian middle eastern countries? Which of God's promises are you referring to? My point was to say if Christians need to defend themselves, then they need to do just that. There is no spiritual virtue or command to let someone take your life. In fact, I would say you have an obligation to protect yourself and family. IF someone tries to kill your daughter I hope you are man enough to take whatever means are necessary to protect her. Just out of curiosity what do you think about killing the enemy in war? You may think I am being rude but I am trying to see where you draw the line between fighting back or getting hurt or killed. And remember, you don't know ahead of time if the person fighting you will kill you.

Since 1996 I have visited the Indian Sub-continent, around 20 times spending up to three months in Nepal each time.

I rarely saw any guns among the general population on any of those trips. However, many of the police were armed and the army with their rifles and sub-machine gun were used to quell any unrest.

The usual method of controlling people was through the use of agitated mobs. Before I went to Nepal by myself in 2001 I had to seriously consider whether or not I would find it acceptable if I was imprisoned or killed while I was in Nepal. I came to accept that if I should be imprisoned or killed while I was in Nepal, that if that was God's purpose for myself, then I would accept my fate and trust God for my final well being and outcome. The same is also true in the region where My Dreams resides and travels around.

The church in Nepal and India is expanding because of the oppression and tribulation of the Christian population. The same is also true in China.

In the New Testament the sword was the weapon of choice to kill someone in a fight, however today the weapon of choice to kill someone is usually a gun.

Bearing this in mind, does the NT teach that we Saints should arm ourselves with the weapon of choice to save our lives.

Please consider if the following list of verses teaches this: -

Matthew 10:34-39: -34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 26:51: - 51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.
Matthew 26:52: - 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Mark 14:47: - 47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.
Luke 2:35: - 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
Luke 21:24: - 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Luke 22:36: - 36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.
Luke 22:49: - 49 And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
John 18:10: - 10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
John 18:11: - 11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”
Acts 12:2: - 2 He killed James the brother of John with the sword,
Acts 16:27: - 27 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
Romans 8:35: - 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
Romans 13:4: - 4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.
Ephesians 6:17: - 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Hebrews 4:12: - 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 11:34: - 34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Hebrews 11:37: - 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated -
Revelation 1:16: - 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
Revelation 2:12: - 12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: ‘The words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword.
Revelation 2:16: - 16 Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.
Revelation 6:4: - 4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.
Revelation 6:8: - 8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
Revelation 13:10: - 10 If anyone is to be taken captive,
to captivity he goes;
if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.
Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
Revelation 13:14: - 14 and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
Revelation 19:15: - 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
Revelation 19:21: - 21 And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

Get back to me with you answer of what was taught in the NT.

I have no idea why you cut and pasted so many verses on "sword." You could just as easy have substituted "sword" with "gun." What conclusion are we to draw from all the Old Testament and New Testament uses of Sword? You seem to be answering something nobody has said anything about, a Sword.

If you want justification for getting a gun, look at the law of the USA. We are to honor the countries' laws and the USA is clear on why we can have a gun, and also, on why we can't kill somebody unless it is in self defense. We have a right to bear arms. We have the right to protect ourselves and family if it was done in self defense. So, Margaret should get something to protect herself with. Instead of a sword, I suggested that she get a gun.

I am not wanting to enter into a discussion which is not applicable to the people in the Indian subcontinent as this is a prayer request and your responses are not applicable to either My Dreams or Marget. Everything in India is not the same as what you have presented that is acceptable for "Christians" in the USA.

My silent prayer when I first read this request that they would be able to increase their trust and faith in God so that God's Glory would be shown in their response to their circumstances in India as they live out their Christian Witness for all of the world to see, particular where they live.

The only person texting about India is you. Margaret is not concerned with India. She is in another State, not India. I am just mystified why you keep bringing up India when nobody else has brought that up. Can you do me the honor of telling me what Margaret has to do with India? Maybe I jump on this discussion after that piece of information was already common knowledge.

Yes, your ignorance is being well documented in this prayer thread and as such your advice is not appropriate for their respective circumstances.

Goodbye

Please notice where My Dreams is from, India, and when My Dreams stated that his sister is in another state from him, he is still referencing a state in the Indian sub-content.

Although I don't own a gun and I don't want a gun, sometimes when people show an intruder a gun, the intruder flees. Or just firing a shot in the intruder's direction works too. Heard these stories on the news.
