Romans 7:15 - For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not, but what I hate, that do.There are only two verses in Romans 7 that describe a Christian not under the Law, vs. 5-6.
Verse 9 is about before the law from Adam to Moses.
And Romans 7:10-25 concludes Paul's teaching on the Law of the Old Covenant.
Chapter 8 starts life in the Spirit.
Rocker, to not have the battle described in Romans 7:14-25 you must be born again of the Holy Spirit. Until then sin will seem like a lifetime battle. I wasn't born again for the first 30 years of my life going to church unsaved. So seek to become born again and no longer in the flesh, but of the Spirit of God.
This is a conflict of two natures. the old and new. The Apostle Paul in this statement uses "I' in the first person 4 times. He is in conflict here.
Romans 7:16 - If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good
When the old nature breaks the commandment (of coveting in this instance),then the new nature agrees that coveting is wrong. The Apostle Paul was not fighting the Law because he broke it. He was agreeing as a Christian, that the Law was good. Again "I' is used 3 times, first person.
Romans 7:17 - Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
The Apostle Paul is still talking first person with the "I" and "me". " I" is the new nature, and the sin (old nature) is living in him (me).
