Jesus said "you must be born again." Only then do you realize there is no more struggling with the flesh. All desire to sin is gone. I can attest to that after 30 years in the church struggling with sin, and then on Feb. 9, 1977 in church on my knees, I had what some may call "a religious experience" and I felt a heaviness lift out of my body (the sin in my nature) and from then on all struggle to be righteous was gone.

Do you still relate more to the struggle of Romans 7:14-25 than you do to walking in the supernatural Spirit of God? The Spirit helps uncover the context and you can then know what the apostle meant, than the style of writing he chose. The apostles are EASTERN. We are WESTERN.
This is the ancient Pelagianism, the sinless perfectionism heresy. The modern version is a Pentecostal second work of grace idea. This fantasy enables people to feel superior to other Christians. The classic holier than thou syndrome.

You are on dangerous ground to proclaim you never sin anymore. Your prideful attitude may be sinful. I must let God judge.

Your use of “context” is really just an excuse to misinterpret scripture.

If Christians could attain a state where the sin nature was completely and permanently removed, we would not be commanded to renew our minds and to confess our sins.

I John 1

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I John 2

1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So both you and I are born again from above. Jesus Christ is our mediator 1 Timothy 2:5. Christ Jesus lives to make intersession for us -
Hebrews 7:25. Our sins are forgiven through the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross. So Jesus Christ deals with our sins continually before God and removes them, because no man can keep from sinning., Making intersession for us. So you don't need a mediator before God? What is Jesus doing as an intercessor for you?
I'm afraid, or should I say glad that I cannot agree with you. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. When born again of the Spirit Jesus removes the desire to commit any of the commandments of God, Himself. Then as the Finisher of our faith, Jesus matures the fruit of the Spirit and those immature actions are what are cleansed from us and we become mature. When the maturing process called glorification is complete as promised in all the fruit of the Spirit, then it is safe to say we "never stumble." That is in this lifetime, not after death that is taught in so many denominations that hold to the error that we still have a sin nature. The sin in our old man sin nature were the worst type of sins = breaking a commandment of God. Also called sins unto death. Those a true Christian cannot commit 1 John 3:9. But the second type of sin, the lesser sin from immature fruit are called sins not unto death. Only those do we commit UNINTENTIONALLY, never on purpose. And because they were unintentional Jesus cleanses them from our being.

Philippians 1:6 He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

2 Peter 1:5-11 (maturing the fruit of the Spirit)
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Pridefully proclaiming your perfect sinlessness…is a sin.

Here we go again, you not knowing at what stage a person is. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. That is why we need our sins taken away by Christ. And how do we do that? By becoming a Christian through repentance. Verse 9 is not a 'get out of hell free card' to be used over and over as we keep on sinning. NO! It is how to be cleansed even in your mind and nature of all unrighteousness by Christ!. Verse 9 is how to become a Christian! How many times do you need to receive the Holy Spirit, A?

A, I already showed you to be careful when an eastern apostle uses "I", "me" and now "we." These mean mankind. Not everyone John and Paul are talking to are Christians. We all need to test ourselves, whether or not we are in Christ.
Pridefully proclaiming your perfect sinlessness…is a sin.

I never said I was perfect. But at least I know it is not I who is doing the work. I just know my conscience is clear, as Paul wrote about himself over and over. Only God knows when Jesus has completed HIS work in me. All we are required to do is to trust in Jesus to do it to His liking and keep abiding in Him obeying my conscience where His laws are a part of me knowing and doing what is righteous. My heart swells just thinking about Jesus. I love reading through the Bible slowly praying He will teach me something new, as His word is alive! The latest was Hebrews 10:2. It proved in writing what I knew in my spirit since 1977 when it happened to me. All this time I didn't think I could prove that Jesus took away all desire to sin. Now I can. Whew! What a relief. I just knew it in my spirit, but now I can show a Scripture to teach. We only know our progress when we realize we are not reacting the same way we used to. Maturity happened to that particular fruit. On to the next...

Some read through the Bible has a chore they must do religiously. Or a challenge to read through the Bible once a year. They read fast and miss the gems.

Hi, Rocker.

Two statuses Jesus acts as mediator. When someone first starts trusting in Jesus, and when we are in the process of becoming perfect and complete. Jesus does it all, and He paid dearly for that position of mediator. Also Advocate in 1 John 2:1-2 is for mankind, not just who are Christians already, but for the whole world.

I can agree as far as Scripture declares. But it doesn't apply to a born again of the Spirit Christian who doesn't have any desire to sin, but willfully sins anyway. There is no more sacrifice for those types of lawless sins. Hebrews 10:2 and 26-31. This we see sometimes when a pastor or evangelist like Jimmy Swaggart commits adultery with a prostitute. Only God knows if He let Jimmy truly repent.

No born again desires to sin, however, whether you admit or not, in this world is sin and you do it with your thoughts, even if not with actions. Jesus only prays for His elect, not for the world. John 17:9, John 17:20. Jimmy Swaggart continually declared you could loose your salvation, then after the scandal, he never declared that again. I guess God taught him a lesson. I am firmly OSAS.

I can't see in Scripture that OSAS is 100% reliable. All we have to do is keep abiding in Him, but those in Matthew 7:19-23 did not. They had to have had salvation at some time to be able to cast out devils, etc. but Jesus declares, "I never knew you."

Just don't lay at my doorstep any of your own weaknesses. Active sinners that choose to sin are not saved. A true Christian may sin but they are NOT AWARE of it. It is not in their consciousness. Only unintentional sins keep getting cleansed by Jesus. Of course, they are only minor sins (immature fruit), but Jesus doesn't cleanse lawlessness from a Christian who is already born again. We have no desire to commit them, so if we willfully commit one of the major sins against the commandments of God after knowing Jesus, there is no more sacrifice for those sins.

Your harsh restrictions of what sins can be forgiven to a saved Christian are unbiblical.

Scriptures declare no such restrictions.

You make up phrases like “unintentional sins”, “minor sins”, “major sins”, “immature fruit” — phrases not found, or even hinted at, in scripture.

If a believer has been studying the Word, it would be rare that they would not be aware of something being sinful. They may consider something okay, but later decide it is sinful. And some habitual sinning is not easy to quit.

There is a type of sin that is said to lead to death, that is only mentioned once and is highly debatable.

Many scholars believe this refers to a willful, continuous, and unrepentant rejection of Christ and the Gospel. It is not just one bad mistake, but a total turning away from God’s grace—leaving the person in a state of spiritual death. This is often compared to Jesus' teaching about "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit".

Another widely held view—particularly among evangelical scholars—is that the "death" is physical, not spiritual. In this context, a believer sins so flagrantly that God decides to prematurely end their physical life as a form of extreme discipline to protect the integrity of the Church. Biblical examples often cited for this include Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 and the Corinthians abusing the Lord's Supper in 1 Corinthians 11.

If God has definitively decreed physical death as a judgment on a specific sin, further prayer to change God's mind is futile.

All sins, other than the one that leads to death, are the same, no big or little, and all sins are covered by the precious blood of Christ.

When you say “Just don't lay at my doorstep any of your own weaknesses.” — there goes your sin of prideful, holier than thou arrogance again.

Here it is. John 10:28-30 - and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

Here is something you probably have never heard before. The first text you are giving, John 10 is about the apostles only, not about we who follow their teachings. In John's writings he uses "key words." In his gospel that key word is "given" as also in John 6:37, 39 and Jesus' prayer for the apostles in John 17. Then he interjects and prays for us in verses 20-23, and then goes back to finishing his prayer for the apostles. Notice how many times John points out that the Father gave each apostles to him, including Judas.

Not recognizing the Middle Eastern styles of writings has caused many false teachings. Recognizing key words is crucial. John used "say" in 1 John 1 as noting unbelievers who say with their mouth but do not walk the walk. The three verses of darkness vs. light are 6, 8 and 10. 1 John 1:8 is not telling us that Jesus fails to take away from us all unrighteousness. That false teaching is a slap in Jesus' face.

Jesus wasn't talking to just the apostles, Jesus also included all who will believe Him.

John 17:20 -Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their(the apostles) word;

John wrote in the Koine Greek language, not middle eastern, he was firmly in Greek culture. It was the common language in Rome where the Apostle John was. Jerusalem was destroyed 20 yrs before John wrote his gospel. Within 25 yrs. John's gospel was in all the churches.

Some people try to limit the statements and commands of Jesus just to His disciples, so they can avoid being responsible for obeying them.

It reminds me of the serpent in the garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:1

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, “Yea, hath God said, ‘Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Yes. In Many study sessions I've been in, people will read part of verse to make a point. I will tell them it doesn't say that and show them the verse itself. Recently, I told a phd that the apostles did not recognize Jesus after the resurrection. I pointed to John 21:12 and he said it was his favorite part where Jesus restores Peter. I said look at verse 12. He said he had never seen that before. V12 - Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord.

I often quote a very clear and simple verse, only to have people add words to it, to supposedly interpret what it “really means”. The added words are mere opinion without any biblical support.

6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

In John 17 the words regarding the Father giving to the Son are only referring to the apostles. Then Jesus prayed for us for 3 verses, but not a word about the Father giving us to Jesus. Then He prayed for the apostles until the closing.

But false doctrines come out like OSAS just because a verse meant to be about the apostles only, they apply to themselves.

That was before the high priestly of John 17. Those disciples could later be saved at Pentecost. Remember Jesus knew what was in man. John 2:25 -and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. I take the verse's literally. You seem to want to dispute verses over and over to fit something you want to believe. I'm out.
