Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

John 12:24

I am wondering how to apply this verse.

Jesus actually explains this verse. Jesus is foretelling of His death and telling us that we must die to self to feed others.

Jesus could have chosen not to go to the cross and maybe die of natural causes but that would have not produced believers.

We must not hold on to our lives to live for ourselves. We must die to self and serve others. Go out and make disciples.

Jesus is referring to His Crucifixion and His death, burial, and resurrection. So, the closest we come after salvation in Christ Jesus is our baptism. Symbolically, to apply this daily, is to read Jesus's words and be refreshed anew knowing life is short, but Heaven is forever and Jesus has paid the ransom for us. This is a marvelous thing to daily reflect on that.

I am thinking about this a lot. It's not because what you're saying is unclear it's more that Im looking at how my life can better reflect this.

I find that in my season of life, I have a lot of opportunities to serve every day. The temptation at times is to think, "hey Im doing enough! Can I just worry about me for a while?" But dieing to self is not meant to be easy.

Unless one dies to self there is no fruit forthcoming. And what is fruit?

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Matthew 16:24 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

This is the requirement for a Holy life in Christ Jesus. Surrender all to Jesus, because all you have belongs to God anyway. Surrender all and watch your life smooth out.
Acts 8:28 - And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose

There is a balance . We can't give everything we have to serving others and have nothing left for ourselves or our families. Jesus' power is unlimited yet He even went off to be alone. We are human and must have time for ourselves as well, time to hear from God, sit with Him, talk to Him and be feed by Him. Elijah ran away, God allowed him to rest. We all need rest and take care of our households.

You can't do everything! You aren't suppose to do everything!

go back to Exodus 18:15- 27. Moses was leading the Hebrews but had to be reminded that he could not do everything alone.

Jethro said : What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you. you cannot handle it alone.
Instead, Moses needed to teach /train others to be judges.

A great lesson. we must train others - create more laborers.

God knows your heart, and you can't physically say yes to every volunteer/ministry opportunity.

I would say marriage, children, and home are my primary ministries. Even these alone usually take a lot out of me.

John 12:24

Lots of spiritual applications related to that verse.

Here is one.

Paul teaches that He did more for Christ then "all the other apostles combined"... and He explained this as Christ doing it through Him.
So, as Paul is the VESSEL, and God is the power that is working/flowing through Him........then Paul is the Corn, and the Holy Spirit is the Living Water(""Christ is THAT Spirit" who is changing the corn seed into a fully developed Amazing Christian, am ultimate Trophy of God's Grace.

And How did the Paul Seed become so?

Paul explains that He died to self........"i die daily".....= so that Christ becomes more of Me.
I decrease so that Christ will increase in me and through me.
It is no more i who live, but Christ who lives in Me.

of course they do. and they should you first have to take care of your household before serving others.

That is why Paul writes about being single 1 Cor 7. Singleness is a gift and not everyone has it.

if you serve others but not your husband then you are violating God's commandment and the covenant. Marriage is a picture of Jesus and the church. You can only serve one master. Your husband is head of your marriage and God over your marriage. Hebrews women were to take a year to prep themselves to serve their husbands and gather to make a good household.

If you ignored your husband and children -how would that be honoring God?

Proverbs 31 give the standard for a wife. It is all about serving her husband, the household. It is so important. Being a wife and mom is the most important job in ministry. Verse 29 confirms that.

Saying all that I think the feminist movement is a big cause of the decline in society.

I very much agree. It has scammed many women out of healthy marriages and children by promoting careerism at all costs. It has ruined many marriages and men have been destroyed through this. Children suffer from broken homes. And abortion tragically ends the lives of the innocent unborn.
