I am not sure where to put this thread at,so if it is the wrong section please put it in the right section. So forgive me is this sounds like a rant. One of the things that irks me is when people turn religion and church into a business such as televangelist and large churches.Have they forgotten Matthew 21:12-13 12And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. I see all theses televangelist on tv when flipping through the channels and I have to wonder are these people mostly in it for the money and how can anyone sitting at home take these people seriously? There is one channel a woman who looks like here make up cases and hair spray cans exploded on her and another channel is trying to sell Christian cartoons.

Those verses difinately suit modern world. In fact, I don't think they even really bother to read or study the bible. The REAL truth of God's words. May I take these two verses that also suits them...Isaiah 29:11 - And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed.Isaiah 29:12 - And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.Any thoughts about these verses. They sound like to me it does fit the modern world if we think about it. no?Jag

AmenThat is the problem most churches have turned into fast food religion saying things like: heres a quick lesson Jesus died for your sins dont worry about the Word of God your going to fly outta here (be raptured)anyway now give us your money see you next week. Have you noticed how many big name ministries lately preach this claim your wealth doctrine God wants you to wealthy. Where are the pastors/teachers to tell Gods lost and searching sheep what they really need to know???

I think I have made my feelings known about this subject here already (not sure)I have a particular dislike for televangelism (not too much of it here in the UK) It is pure exploitation of people emotionally and spiritually and some of it exploitation of their wallets.I also have a dislike for mega churches which seem to thrive due to the charismatic personalities of their founders. How many copies of purpose driven this or that have been sold compared to the bible. How many church growing system packs and celebrate recovery aide memoires too? This is religion the I Am-way business method - not Christianity the Christ way.It will flourish and boom for a while, then collapse as personalities vie for recognition, control and a share of the book royalties.PAH!:naughty:

I go back to when Christ overturned the money-changers tables and chased them out. It's virtually the same scenario here, and this time when he comes to clean house it will not need to be cleaned again. It also goes back to the lesson we have on this site, judgment starts with the pulpit and woe to all of those that make it solely a business and fail to teach the Word.Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
