confess with your mouth and believe in your heart and you shall be saved. that is how simple repentance is to me. everything else

Jesus did for us. starting with baptism, fasting, healing, etc......he did everything for us. Our only job after that is to walk in love, and doing that we fulfill it all

now if there is something greater than love than please tell me, but Jesus met all my fleshly requirements as far as I can read starting at the river with john

,and put into effect at the tomb when he was raised up.

baptizing in the name of the father son and hg has nothing to do with water

fasting to cast out devils has nothing to do with giving up food

but walking in love meets all my spiritual requirements to be a son of God

Hi, nice post.

Just 3 issues / add-ons to what you said.

1. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that.....Jesus is Lord. Truthfully stating that is only possible by the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 12:3. The Holy Spirit would only reveal that truth after we follow James 4:8 by coming to God on His terms Psalm 51:17, Matt 16:24, James 4:6.

2. Your idea of love may not be mine. Most think love = feel good actions. Whereas love = more veggies then Mcdonalds. Hence 'love' is not everything but 'loving God' is everything Luke 10:27. Loving God = obeying His commandments 1 John 5:3. Those OT had instruction to love one-another as themselves Lev 19:18 and yet they still obeyed God's law, even if it meant stoning someone to death.

3. Jesus was baptized in water when the Holy Spirit descended on Him. Sure being saved does not require that, but insulting water for baptism thereafter is on par with not drinking and eating / following John 6:56.

sogi ... very good ... I agree .. !!!!

I also have another way of looking at it as follows ....

There is all kinds of stuff going on in the world ... and all kinds of theories and religions and philosophies .... plus paganism and idol worship and so on .... even at the time when Jesus was down here it was like that.

Along comes Jesus with the simple message ..... set all the junk aside and look to me for all the answers now and forever .... do not look anywhere else .... and if you believe that I will see you through to the end and then eternity with me after that

In other words "believing in Jesus" entails just about everything and is not just some little christian catch phrase.

And like you said , once we cross the line to being believers , we find that Jesus has done everything for us and mostly all we can do is be appreciative (love).

Nice topic. Just adding my two cents.... As far as eternal life is concerned, believing in Jesus is simply accepting His offering for sin and accepting His offer for fellowship. The entailing of just about everything else comes under the category of our ongoing relationship and fellowship with Him. Some have a habit of comparing men with men and criticizing others who don't measure up to a certain standard, thus questioning their faith in many cases. If we would simply compare ourselves to God we could all see that no one has reached a flawless existence and therefore remain humbly dependent upon His grace, acknowledging that no one is any better than anyone else in human skin. And also that all are without spot and blemish in the spirit...all who are born again of His Spirit. On that subject, there are many who feel it is up to us to make ourselves without spot or blemish. However, the passage in question reveals that Jesus did what He did for the church so that He could present her to Himself without spot or blemish. It is His work, not ours, by which we are perfected forever. Our work is simply meant to express His work in us. We are not working for life. We are living it. We are always to be in response mode. For who has first given to God, that it might be repaid him? (paraphrased, Rom.11:35). Jesus said..." Freely you have received. Freely give". Blessings!

DPMartin : Jesus did for us.
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

If He done did the "doeth", why would He tell you to do the "doeth" He done did?

Jesus set the perfect example during His life, I was baptized to follow in His footsteps and will continue to try to pattern my life after His until He calls me home.

I have both seen the Holy spirit in a white robe, and I have spoken with her. She told me to leave this alone, questions should remain questions theth said, Robert 40:12

She will now fill this land with holy raindrops as punishment

28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Acts 2:38, 39.

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.

1 Peter 2:21

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
