Hi lorenski44,Keep reading the Bible every day. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and His atonement achieve for you through His Incarnation, sinless life as a man, obeying the Father even to death on the Cross, and His Resurrection from the dead, then you have the Holy Spirit living inside you.He will teach you what the Bible means. That's His job to do in every believer. Continue to ask questions, but write down the answers you get, especially if they come with Scripture references. Write down what you think about the answer. Keep searching the Bible with a good Bible concordance and a good Bible commentary,(absolutely essential), but, most of all, ask God to show you the Truth as you do these things. He will! He is faithful to the end!waynemlj

Not to mention...It is not impossible for God to give wisdom to His children when they sometimes don't read the Bible. You can get wisdom without reading...just that I still prefer reading...as wisdom comes from God and giveth understanding... (Proverbs 2:6, Daniel 2:21

Hi thesuperjag,I find it interesting that you believe one can get wisdom wihout reading God's Word, and, yet, you give two Bible rerences: one to Proverbs and one to Daniel. That's God's Word that you are using to prove that one doesn't have to go to God's Word for wisdom and understanding??You confused me on that one.waynemlj

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Wouldn't your practice of not going to Church seem to be in conflict with that verse? "
I only wish I could find a church in my neck of the woods where I felt comfortable, but sadly that's not the case, as all those I've looked at so far fall short because of bad ministers and/or bad congregations. So I stay away in obedience of verses such as these..

Well seeing how we are closer in the End Times as we are the last generation. It is extremely hard to find a church as many, many, I mean several churches today preaches the doctrine of men over the Word of God. On another note, some or many churches celebrate Communion on Easter, which is a pagan holiday. I would rather celebrate Communion on Passover as Christ is the Passover Lamb.About charity works. True Love is telling the Truth. If we don't tell the Truth, how can we love people? If they keep on rejecting Truth, we should pray for everybody that they may see the Light. I probably go to a random church to see if I can reach other people. This world needs the Truth.JagLovest thou in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour.
There are plenty of good churches in my area. Perhaps you are in a bad area.

There are plenty of good churches in my area. Perhaps you are in a bad area. This does include the been there for 3 weeks Pentecostal church... They blaspheme the Word of God saying that we need to speak in tongue as a requirement to get the Holy Ghost.I hate men's doctrine day in and day out forevermore...JagLovest ye in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour of the world.

Sure, it is a blaspheme to say that it is necessary for salvation. But you have to believe in the gifts of the spirit. If I ever start a church, I'll make sure that the preaching will be like that of a Baptist, and the worship/faith like that of a Pentecostal.

A man is looking at a house that he may possibly wish to purchase. As he is in the front yard, checking the outside, a neighbor is in his front yard doing chores. He calls to the neighbor and explains that he is looking for a home in a good neighborhood, and asks the man, "What kind of neighborhood is this?" to which the neighbor replies, "What kind of neighborhood do you live in now?"The man in search answers and says, "Not Good!", and the neighbor replies, "neither is this one!"In searching for anything, the attitude you possess when you begin the search, dictates the results. An open mind will bring good things, where as a closed mind will never allow your search to end.

The original question was about the verse that says about not forsaking the assembling together of yourselves. This verse can only be understood in the light of the New Testament church activities and practice, not current church practices.:study:First of all, you are the church so you can't "go to church". You are part of the body of Christ so 24/7 you are the church. Your body is the temple of the holy spirit so you are the house of God. The NT church met in homes for meals and occasionally met together as a whole bearing in mind that there was only one church in each town that met in many homes.:grouphug:When they came together as a whole they did so to minister to one another with the gifts of the spirit giving opportunity to the priesthood of all believers, not just a few up front (see 1 Corinthians 12-14). They didn't meet this way every week or on Sunday. They met this way on Saturday night because in those days the first day of the week began at sundown on Saturday. Their day off was Saturday and as they worked six days a week they would be at work all day Sunday. Another comment was that the NT church met together to break bread (communion). This was not introduced until about 400AD. Prior to that the church met together for common meals or "agape" meals as they were known where everyone who could would bring food so that those who couldn't i.e. widows and orphans would have something to eat. This common meal was an expression of their love for one another. We assemble together every time we have fellowship with two or three or more so it can be a meal together; lunch in a public cafe; on a beach; in a car park; in a public park; in our office. In other words you name it and that is assembling together. What makes it God blessed? The fact that we meet together because we are members of the body of Christ. :shepard:
