"They've got us surrounded again, the poor bastards." -General Creighton W. Abrams Jr.

I'm here to offer my thoughts about the midterms and give a little perspective and hope to my fellow conservatives, Republicans, and Trump supporters. If you are none of those things, well, then this post isn't for you. In fact, you should probably move on because I'm not interested in hearing what you have to say. This post is for us. Full stop.

So, first, I want to give a little perspective on the mid-terms. Was it bad? Sure? Was it an extinction-level event like DeSantis said? Not hardly. Typically, with rare exceptions, the incumbent party always loses seats during the mid-terms. It sucks, but that's usually the way it goes. So far, we've lost 47 seats. That's a lot, but to put things in perspective, Democrats lost 62 seats in 1994 under Clinton and 69 seats in 2010 under Obama. It was so bad, Obama called it a shellacking. Yet, they still managed to come back. We can come back too.

Let's remember that this isn't our first rodeo. In 2020, we lost both houses of Congress and the presidency. Yet, we rebounded and won both back in '24. If we did it once, we can do it again. George Washington lost the majority of his battles, but he won the war. We lost a battle, not the war. To quote Winston Churchill, "never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

Now I want to talk about some anomalies of the midterms and why all the finger-pointing may be misplaced. This election didn't make much sense, and I'll tell you why. There seem to be two primary excuses as to why we supposedly lost the midterms. They come down to the Iran war and the economy. So, let's see why both of those excuses fall short. The Iran war wasn't Iran or Afghanistan. There was no ground invasion or major loss of life. Only 11 service members died as the result of combat. Any life lost is tragic, but it's only a drop in the bucket compared to thousands that died in Iraq and Afghanistan. There was also no oil or gas shortages. The Iran war virtually had zero direct impact on Americans. As far as the economy goes, gas prices are on average the same as they were during the Biden Administration. Inflation is also substantially lower now than it was during the Biden years.

So, you mean to tell me that Americans overwhelmingly voted for the most radical Democrats in U.S. history because of that? It just doesn't add up. Nothing about this election makes sense. Here's why I think there were shenanigans going on. I'm just going to take Texas as an example since I live there. Talarico won more Democrat votes than all Democrat Texas candidates since 2016. I could maybe believe if it was close, but he won by over one million votes. And Gina Hinojosa, who has no name recognition and most Texans are not familiar with, beat Governor Greg Abbott. Really? Not one single county in Texas shifted red. What? I know Texas. The big cities and parts along the Mexican border are blue, but the rest is deep red. This is a state that Trump won by 14 points just two short years ago.

There's absolutely no good reason that explains such an unprecedented blue shift. Not Trump, not the Iran war, not the economy, not bad candidates, not nothing. I'm sorry, but it's just too big, too astronomical to be believed. That makes me think this election was not on the up and up, and it's déjà vu all over again. But what I find telling is that Trump not only seemed unconcerned about how the midterms turned out but hasn't called out election fraud once like he did in 2020. I can't tell you what that means, but I think it means something. I don't know what comes next, but something tells me we're in for more surprises and not all of them are bad. So, don't give up, buckle up!

I think a lot of people are short sighted. They want free stuff or lower prices but if Iran bombed us, that would be worse than paying a little extra.
