Hello Purity
I am learning about you.

I agree the Lust of the flesh is sinful.
I don't give the Devil all the credit for our actions to sin.
We have our own "I want" - desires
The lust of the flesh is not call the devil, the lust of the flesh can cause you to become a devil.

A devil is a sinner, they commit sin.
I also am learning about you ;)

No quotes attached to "your" thoughts - sorry!

I reason I ask is I know you will struggle to find quotes to support your ideas - they are notions and notions when they are proven to be such, must be put off and abandoned.

Here is what happens to one who is a false accuser of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now this man Judas purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
(Acts 1:18)

This is the "strength" of your devil.

A man who hung himself and had his entrails bust asunder? And his bowels gush out?

You know what that is symbolic of right?

Don't lose ground Brakelite.

2 points stand with you.

1. Rev 12:7 highly symbolic
2. How do you understand the word angels in 2 Peter 2:4

Otherwise do you have any other Scripture, a chapter, passage or verse to hang your theory on?

P.
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

War is not symbolic. It may not involve physical weapons, but the conflict is the same nevertheless...there was a victor, and a loser.
Michael is not symbolic. He is the archangel, the sole chief of all the angels of heaven.
The dragon is not symbolic, for we are informed a little later on who this dragon is. A real devil. A real Satan.
Heaven is not symbolic. Heaven is a real place from which Lucifer was cast down.
The earth is not symbolic. It is a real place and Lucifer, now Satan, beguiled Eve who in turn convinced Adam to rebel against the direct commandments of God and thus hand over the lordship of the earth to the devil. He is now the prince of this planet, but Jesus, the rightful Ruler, will take back His rightful possession when He comes. The second coming is not symbolic either.
Deception is not symbolic. It is real, and you have no idea you are deceived, for if you did, you would seek truth. That is the nature of deception, the one being deceived does not know he is deceived. There is only one antidote, the scriptures. And sadly you are giving plain teachings of the Bible a mystical unnecessarily spiritual allegorical twist which undermines reality. Similar to the Gnostics of time gone past...claiming to a higher level of knowledge they spiritualized everything away until there was nothing of substance remaining.
The angels who belong to the devil are not symbolic. Countless people of all ages have testified to their reality through experience.
The loud voice John heard was not symbolic. It was a real voice with a real message. Perhaps you need to heed it.
The accuser was not symbolic.
The God he stood before was not symbolic.
The blood of the Lamb was not symbolic.
The Lamb was symbolic, yet we are clearly informed who the Lamb is.
Our testimony is not symbolic. Pity you disbelieve it.
The power we overcome by is not symbolic. Sad you can't experience it.
Death to the carnal nature is not symbolic. Even more sad you cannot experience this and be born again by the living Spirit of the Living Almighty Creator Jesus Christ, the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Highly symbolic????? The only thing in the entire passage which could be referred to as symbolic is a commonly understood reference to Jesus, whose clear claims to deity you deny, and whose rightful place as Creator of heaven, the earth, and all that is in them you constantly undermine.

Brakelite to answer

http://www.christianityboard.com/topic/20230-the-devil/?p=229419

Brakelite

Thank you for your post.

Must remember to maintain neighbourly love.

Lets consider the symbolic nature of this passage together shall we?

brakelite said:

"And there was war in heaven"

Brakelite this warfare took place in the same "heaven" as where the woman gave birth to her son (Rev 12:1), and where the "great red dragon" was found (Rev 12:3). By no stretch of imagination can this relate to the astronomical heavens above. Not only would it be inconceivable that a woman should give birth to a son there, but in addition, Scripture teaches that "God cannot look upon sin" (Hab. 1), and Christ taught his disciples to pray for the time when the will of the Father will be done "in earth as it is in heaven." If heaven above is the realm of antagonism, disorder and war, there is no point in Christ's request!

I will answer one at a time to allow you to digest the Scripture - I will refuse at this stage to give you the interpretation clearly you are not in your right frame of mind.

Michael is not symbolic. He is the archangel, the sole chief of all the angels of heaven.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. (Daniel 12:1)

Who is Michael typifying here?
Who is the great Prince who stands in the presence of the Almighty?

The dragon is not symbolic, for we are informed a little later on who this dragon is. A real devil. A real Satan.
Now I know you don't believe in literal dragons, so what do you think this is realistically symbolic of?

Heaven is not symbolic. Heaven is a real place from which Lucifer was cast down.
It often relates to the political heavens for these are the forces at work in the earth. Again must consider the literal reality of a woman giving birth in heaven ;)

I am sure you will get the symbolic picture eventually.

Its not because I don't want to answer its that you give me no choice but to refuse as you spirit is contentious.

Pro 14:7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

The advice here is to be just, kind and polite to all people, but we must be careful we entreat people who are without knowledge. The words of Scripture admit of an attempt to help even when dealing with fools. 'Go from the presence of a foolish man when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge' [KJV].

This implies an effort to help but counsels us to withdraw if there is no response

Your behaviour has been extremely eradicate.

"The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools."

If you cease from behaving like a fool then we can proceed with your learning.

Purity.
Full marks for trying P; but; that means that all the rest of us are fools!
You really are without credibility!
As you won't answer me; I hope all here take note at your flagrant dishonesty!

He is now the prince of this planet, but Jesus, the rightful Ruler, will take back His rightful possession when He comes. The second coming is not symbolic either.
This made me chuckle because I recently did a study in Rev 10

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, (Revelation 10:5)

The angel, sea and earth here are all symbolic as are the seven thunders the heaven, the sun, the rainbow, the voice etc etc - in fact every word in Rev 10 is symbolic.

Your acknowledgement of these matters reveals you do not understand Jesus' final commands to his servants.

All highly symbolic but full of beautiful commands, blessings and visions.

At present I am currently in the process of proving your delusion - deception is harsh like its full of intent - delusion can take place out of ignorance as is the case with your post.

The angels who belong to the devil are not symbolic. Countless people of all ages have testified to their reality through experience.
Ah yes messangers.

"Angels" - Greek word "aggelos" translated "angel" means "messenger, agent", and is used of both human and divine messengers. It is used of humans in the following places: Matt. 11:10; Luke 7:24, 27; 9:52; and James 2:25.

Enjoy ;)

The loud voice John heard was not symbolic. It was a real voice with a real message. Perhaps you need to heed it.
A LOUD VOICE: Literal yes, but it conveyed urgency in the desire of further knowledge of Yahweh's purpose. Even the angels desire to look, but are not able (1Pe 1:12).

Therefore is it symbolic of God Divine Will which only He can reveal to his servants through Jesus Christ, though and angel, through the elders and to the people of God.

Ask "Who is the voice summoning?"
Ask "To whom are the Words directed?"
Ask "Who might hear?"

Is the voice likened to that of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah? Rev 5:5 Joe 3:16; Amo 1:2

Symbolic of more than you know !!!!

The accuser was not symbolic.
Well in 1 Peter 5:8 it is! Nero himself made false accusations against Christians and ordered their deaths!

Was he a false accuser? When he hung Christians on poles and light them for torches during his entertain and pool parties?

Ask "Who is the false accuser here in Rev 12?"

The God he stood before was not symbolic.
God carries no symbolism at all?

In the same verse we are told that a Kingdom is attached to God.

Of course all things are in the sight of God such as paganism (see 1Pe 5:8), which as the political "devil" or false accuser, had cast many Christians "into prison" (Rev 2:10).

God is symbolic of Power and Authority and Peace and sanctification; He can be spoken of in symbolic terms according to how He wants to manifest himself. He can be an army or a father, He can be whatever He chooses but here in Rev 12 he is symbolic of multitudes of people in Christ who have associated themselves with Power and might! That's symbolic also ;)

The blood of the Lamb was not symbolic.
:)

Now that you have placed all that disagree with your non Biblical teaching into the category of "fools"; will you now help the "fools" to understand your deep and special understanding of the Holy Bible (God's Word); which you have special access to; so that we can benefit from your wisdom!

Your past comments state:

You do not accept the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You deny the Deity of the Holy Spirit.
You do not accept that the "shema" is reference to The compound entity; Godhead
You deny the existence of Satan.
You deny Satan tempted Eve.
You assert that only your interpretation of Scripture is valid!

This is profoundly tedious heresy; (why don't you complain to the management?)

I ask again; despite your weasel words and attempt to slide side ways by blaming all and sundry for your own devious avoidance of your own teachings;

You say you "praise God regularly"; that means (if you tell the truth), that you "worship in spirit and in truth ( Jhn.4:23-24), unless the "one" you worship, is one of those that Jesus warned would be evident (false Christ's).
You said in an earlier post that you treat the Holy Spirit in the same way as Christ Jesus; ie deny their Deity!
In that case; you cannot "worship in spirit and in truth"; as "God is Spirit"!???

The Lamb was symbolic, yet we are clearly informed who the Lamb is.
Fancy having been given a key to understanding the Bible and only using it for those symbols with plain interpretation.

Is this how the disciple of Christ should treat the Word of God - Matt 13:13

To your shame Brakelite.

Our testimony is not symbolic. Pity you disbelieve it.
Rev 19:10

Here the testimony was filled with symbolism ;)

The angel identifies himself with the Redeemed, for the vision just concluded relates to the time when they shall be made "equal unto the angels" (Luk 20:36).

The symbolic testimony of angelic nature will one day be neither a symbolic message nor a prophetic one but the reality in the earth.

The power we overcome by is not symbolic. Sad you can't experience it.
Ah let me give you the symbolic vision of Rev 2:26 as being the words of Jesus

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: (Revelation 2:26)

Here the Power is symbolic of the authority the saints shall possess in that future age.

Also see Rev 5:9-10; Rev 20:6; Dan 7:27

For more symbolism.

Death is symbolic of many things - David likened it to there being no remembrance in the grave; it has gates (symbolic) its dark (symbolic) its a shadow which hangs over all men.

In Rev 20:6 it tells us death has no more power. Death is symbolic of a personified Lord who has you in bondage - King sin Rom 6:23

Highly symbolic????? The only thing in the entire passage which could be referred to as symbolic is a commonly understood reference to Jesus, whose clear claims to deity you deny, and whose rightful place as Creator of heaven, the earth, and all that is in them you constantly undermine.
Na maybe its not symbolic after all :)

Rev 1:3 "Blessed is he that readeth "

Here is your grand incentive Brakelite to study the Revelation.

The book closes with a similar blessings (Rev 22:7).

So anxious was John to experience this blessing, that he wept when he found that the Revelation was a sealed book (Rey. 5:4), but he was caused to rejoice at the opening of the seals and the resultant revelation.

A similar desire to learn the wisdom of Yahweh should characterise all the saints of God. An increasing knowledge of the Truth is a constant need (go to Col 1:10; Act 20:32) because it is the means designated of God for the sanctification of His saints (Joh 17:17; 1Th 2:13).

God has promised to help us grow in knowledge if we ask Him aright (see Jam 1:5; Psa 25:9). The word anaginosko does not merely mean 'to read' but signifies one who gathers exact knowledge of a matter, hence, in my translation I have rendered it 'he that knows accurately.'

I hoped we could together discuss the exact knowledge of these things but one cannot do so when resistance is always present.

I am sure nobody out there is fooled by Purity's Post.
As anybody will have observed; he refused to answer my questions on his teaching.
He has taken this action because he does not want reminding that he was cornered by his own words; which often happens when people will not take Scripture as it is written.
I find his false authority stance offensive, especially as he always insists that people reply to his Posts and questions.
I have to say in all seriousness, that I am surprised, and not a little disturbed that the Moderators allow him and his to remain on this Board; especially as he openly does not accept the "Statement of Faith"; which is supposed to be a pre-requisite for Membership? (Mods. please note?).
JonD has apparently left yesterday, which I am sure he is not the last.

Below is a reminder (if it's needed) of the words that have "offended" Purity.
