How is an educated member of the RCC dangerous to his or her spiritual growth? Please enlightenment me.
Let's see now, where ARE all of those verses about flesh vs Spirit, works vs Spirit, the true gospel vs doctrines of men?
Oh, rats, there's so many of them I can't find 'em ... Yes, well, why don't you find 'em?

Why don't you start with Hebrews 10:25, and when you line up your life with that verse, we can proceed to other things. Until you go to church and submit yourselves to imperfect, earthly authority as God commands, you have little in common with the rest of us who have.

I trust God's Word Jack, and it isn't mud. It is life. I don't trust churches because they can get it wrong, and many times do. I belong to the BoC.
Thank you for your response again!

Pretty much agreeing to agree on this one. I can get it wrong too thus I go to Churches getting their views double checking my view along with Commentaries and Forums of course. In this way I try to also fulfill Heb.10:25 in/out of the Churches 24/7 along with works of faith...worked so far?

Thank you again,

Old Jack's opinion

To all: btw just by participating on this Forum, one is "meeting" with other Christians thus fulfilling Heb.10:25 for many that don't go to a formal church meeting. For example I'm a full on non-modern conservative and confessional 24/7 ELCA Lutheran where I identify more with the LC-MS more than with WELS & ELCA not trusting any of the former Churches' modernized doctrines. To submit to any of the above would be my immediate ticket to the wrong place. Don't pay that much attention as just thinking out loud again.

He/she is just contrary that's all....typical Republican Christian who is more focused on the republican part of the label and apparently doesn't know how to spell 'veil' properly.

Don't you sound stupid correcting somebody out of ignorance! Vale means valley, not veil. Those are two different words. I didn't misspell anything and I think you're an example of the woefully deficient state of education and literacy in Canada. And if you think I'm insulting you, you just insulted yourself and my help wasn't necessary.

Nope, just knew the movie, and am human. Never said I was perfect. Now that I've looked it up, it does kinda sound like you...Whoa is me!
I'm not that cynical or pessimistic.

@ Jack

I identify best with the LCMS best too. I'm not exactly in line with them on everything, but on the LARGE majority, they're my denomination.

... butski, thou hast gotten this completely backwards ...
even though Canada's standard HAS gone down of late!

Henceforth, we'll just refer to you as ...
"the nasty one who meanders through the vail backwards!"

In your attempt to make me look stupid, you didn't bother to use Google before hand. I've done that before and it's embarrassing. "This vale of tears" is a phrase taken from the Salve Regina prayer in the Rosary, but it's an ancient phrase that has broad meaning applying to all Christians that lament this fallen world and the suffering it contains. It's got nothing to do with pessimism, this life is harsh and it really sucks for the majority of people in it. A few of us live the good life, while the rest of us grow up in places like Sri Lanka or Somalia. But even here in the U.S. or Canada it's a crap shoot because prosperity does not alleviate suffering in many cases.

In any event, there was no grace in my response and for that I'm sorry.

I'm not trying to do that at all Tears. You do a good enough job of that yourself. I was just explaining.

Hey, i know the most imperfect Church if that will help, viz., A Church that meets on Sunday where they show up a few minutes before the "1" whole hour worship then immediately exit for their golf tee times trying to not back over others in the Church parking lot bordering on Church parking lot rage.

Old raging for Jesus, Jack

Thank you for your response!

I was close to an ol' timer ELCA Minister and he understood exactly where I was coming from. Like us ol' crows, he passed on thus only have the moderns that really appreciate when i don't show up for Church. I strongly feel our Lord purposely maintained LC-MS...I would have hoped that He would have maintained the ELCA...now thinking out loud too much. Thank you again.

Old Jack

Does the LC-MS still prioritize having an hourly "fear' of our Lord? Been awhile, was curious? Thanks again Tex
