Started a thread months back called Christian vs Christian....and how this should not be.

I find it sad..............................................................that when another Christian has expereineced Christ more than someone else......they deem him nuts...or categorize him with some cult.

You would think..........the Holy spirit in them would recognize the Holy Spirit in the other guy......I can.

I've heard many testimonies in here...and ya all know how I jump for joy at those testimonies......love em....can't get enough of them...................PRAISE GOD.....FOR THOSE TESTIMONIES!!!!!!!!!

I will use this example one more time.....

Take a eighty year old man named Bob.....he has gone to church (on Sundays) all his life since birth. But that's it.
Take a eighty year old man 20 minutes ago named John who has just left church for the
first time in his life...but left there forgiven of his sins, recieved the Holy Ghost (speaks in tongues) cannot quit talking about what God has done for him and is a changed human being.

Bob thinks John is nuts.

I've always said...if ya don't have a testimony..........GO GET ONE.
And all............that means all..............can have a Damascus experience.....but...I guess it just depends on how bad do you want it?

God has always had the best waiting for you..........GRAB IT!

Matthew 17:20
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Here Christ talks once again about faith in the form of “seed”.
In the parable of the farmer (Matt 13) we see a farmer carelessly throwing seed all over the place.

The point Im trying to make is a seed in general is only small; it hasn’t yet had the chance to germinate. A mustard seed in particular is an interesting analogy because a mustard seed is one of the tiniest seeds on the planet. But it grows in to a mustard tree which is one of the largest trees you’ll find anywhere.

Jesus isn’t talking about size in this particular parable he is referring to the quality of mustard seed sized faith. The size of a person’s faith can only depend on the quality of the nurture they provide for that seed.

We are all given a seed planted deep within us, if we ignore the needs of that seed the seed will not germinate very quickly and possibly die, it may even get to the size of a small shrub being beaten and tossed around by changing weather before it begins to wither with neglect. But seed that finds its way to fertile soil (A person who cultivates an earnest desire to grow) will eventually and slowly grow in to a tree big and strong and unmoved by any sort of weather. As it grows from a small shrub it will produce fruit in keeping with its size, until as a massive tree it produces a healthy yield.

The more we water and care for our seeds with living water (Jn 4:10) the faster and stronger we grow.

Nothing will be impossible for us.

And you Madad....shall be that tree...
And if we don't get anything else...let us get understanding.

But remember........the first eighty year old man man didn't even recognize the Jesus he so called served.
And worse than that..........did Jesus even know him?

John who has just left church for the first time in his life...but left there forgiven of his sins, recieved the Holy Ghost (speaks in tongues) cannot quit talking about what God has done for him and is a changed human being.
Lets see then

The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away." (Matt 13:20-21)
or
"the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Matt 13:23)

Seeings as its Johns first time and he is so over joyed to the point he starts to worship in tongues and cant shut up about it, it seems that jumping Johnny boy relates to the rocky ground seed in Jesus's story more then he relates to the seed on good soil someone who hears the word and understands it.

Now Jesus doesnt add that this "Understanding" seed is also overjoyed and carrying on like a bag of tongue talkin nuts. The seed Jesus is talking about here seems to cultivate more of a grounded style of deep rooted understanding, finding his joy in seeking the truth not carrying on like a flamin Galah !

So in a way old Bob who is taking it all in his stride is growing at a steady pace and has many years of experience on jumping Johnny, who has decided though he has no idea what it means he just starts to talk in tongues because hyperactive hyper-spiritual guys like him see other people doing things like that and want to do the same thing. I think jumping for joy Johnny is more likely to be the sort of guy you find going to Benny Hinn crusades and dressing like Joel Olsteen. But as Jesus said as soon as trouble and persecution comes, old Johnny finds himself in shallow ground because he felt that being really spiritual was enough and understanding came second, Poor Johnnys resolve becomes weak because he built his house on sand and he runs away faster then a dog at bath time!!

LOL!!! :p

Ya know what....for the first time I totaly disagree with ya. :D

You are not even close.....nope not even warm.

Jumping Johning....expereinced God.
Old Bob......is doin just what satan wants him to do.......nothin.......Old Lame Bob isn't excited about Christ, he doesn't tell others about Him...and shys away of any discussion which involves God. But you seem to favor Mr. Bob.....

I betcha the leapard danced for joy as David did...even naked.......yep...making fools of themselves.

Madad...get out of the house and go see Jesus.....quit studying him :)

It's like growing up with your sister or brother.....you know them....but you would rather study them. :)

And speaking of Benny Hinn.........Have you ever been......or since you believe about him the way you do....and that's what keeps you from going?

Remember it's about you...not Benny Hinn......God will still work on you....even at Benny Hinn...........it's the faith....

I know two bikers......hells angels who drove 1200 miles to get healed at one Benny Hinns services............which they did....and gave me a big hug for telling them to.
But it's not Benny Hinn...they could of asked for healing in the shower...............but God saw their faith to travel such a distance and granted their faith....
Now they ride for Jesus....in their biker club.

i was at a Benny Hinns service 20 years ago....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there were 40 nuns in front of me...who all fell to the floor and layed there for a good 30 minutes slain in the spirit. NUNS!!!!! Madad......who would of thought.

Brother get out.....go....find Jesus.... go where He is at......I know He is there with you now....but you know what I mean.

Don't judge the healings in your areas........go first...check it out.......then you will feel sorry for Bob.

Why will you feel sorry for Bob?.............................Because he's missin out on the life the more abundant life Jesus has always had for him.

.Brother please dont judge me, you have absolutely no idea what of Christ I experience in my daily walk.

And dont tell me to stop studying ignorance is not bliss its just ignorance.
Do you seriously think it makes you more righteous than a regular Christian if you fall on the floor and shake or talk in tongues?
I understand the word, and because I understand Gods word I know that I dont need to go anywhere or do all that stuff to experience Christ because if you understood too you would know something Mr Benny Hinn doesn't, and that is Jesus lives inside of you, hes not standing on the stage touching people making them spill all over the floor in some mass hysteria circus act.

Romans 8:9-11
However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

So please, dont tell me to get up and go anywhere to find Jesus when he is exactly where He has been since the day I asked him into my life.

Randor If you really want to practice the high level of spirituality you preach then why do you draw a line only halfway?
Why dont you sell all your possessions and hit the road preaching to everyone you meet the good news of the Kingdom of God, because that's what Jesus and his disciples did, they were the model of spirituality and they were homeless and they relayed on God for all their provisions and the good will of stranges, they truly lived by the spirit.

But you, you draw a line at a place where you feel you have some sort of spiritual high ground and say this is my standard and shame on anybody who doesnt meet it.

Theology on its own can be rightly accused of being lifeless Randor, but the flip side is that a spiritual life without structure cannot move. A spiritual life needs the right structure to support it.

We are told in the Word to seek understanding not shun it, it is actually your duty as a Christian to be able to provide an answer and build up you knowledge of God, otherwise you just full of your own opinions and a bunch of noise.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Proverbs 18:2
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

1 Peter 3:15
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”

Ephesians 5:15-17
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Luke 21:15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

Proverbs 24:3-7
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth.

Dang dude...........wasn't even judgin you..........:(
I don't think of myself more spiritual....but of course in text anyone can read into it the way they seem it comes across.
Same goes for scripture.....they can read way more into or it way more less into it. You know this because you deal with some pretty crazy individuals who stop here once in a while.

If we were in person instead of this stupid cyber world...........these conversations would never take place.

I know you love Jesus.....you don't have to convince me of that.

Im sorry dude you know I have a high level of respect for you

But mate I have stuck up for you because you have the gift of a joyful praising spirit, this gift is a very spiritual gift and can be a great blessing.

However you need to remember that we have all been given different gifts in different measures. Not everyone feels the desire to worship in the same way as you, but we all worship in the way God has seen fit to gift us all as individuals in one body.

I have found some of the threads you start come across as a intent to accuse people of not being as spiritually enlightened, that is if they say that they havent experienced what you have or done what you have done then they are somehow lacking by your measure. (that certainly is hyper-spirituality)
The truth is though it is important for spiritual growth not everyone needs to go to church to have a close relationship with Christ, not everyone needs to lock themselves in a cupboard or room for days in order to hear God or lay on the floor in order to feel Gods indwelling presence.

Theres far to many doctrines out there telling people that if they arnt doing things like talking in tongues and being "slain in the spirit" that they need to question the quality of their faith or commitment to Christ.
It Is a harmful doctrine and it is only good for shattering a persons faith not building up strength in faith.

I think its amazing that you have experienced these things and I know all you want to do is encourage everyone else to experience it too, by that you have a beautiful heart for Christ and your love for Him is true.

But maybe instead of asking people questions like "who has been slain in the spirit," which seems set up for accusation, how about just telling us what its like, what you experienced and how its changed your life, maybe even include some scriptures for us scripture monkeys to chew on.
Things like that are encouraging and people read these things and want to experience it too, your experiences could truly be inspiring and bare fruit, which is what they are for.
Your gift could be a blessing.

I love and respect you brother and i appreciate your spiritual wisdom in my own walk.
Peace

I think tolerance is the word that comes to mind ... but then again, should we really tolerate each other as Christians or love one another ?
I began my born again experience by attending a Baptist church, then after being invited I went to another Baptist church where the Pastor
had experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in his life.
This was a whole new experience for me, the lifting of hands, tongues and the laying on of hands.

I went to a meeting one day where an American preacher Ed Elliot was teaching a class - it was at Conference - he laid his hands on me
for the "speaking in other tongues", well nothing happened but after a day or two I suddenly began speaking in other tongues.
This has become such a blessing in my life as I truly sense the Spirit moving in me when I do this.
However, a part of me always has me scrutinizing the word in detail and being very word based.
A heritage from the Baptists ... thank God for the Baptists.
And because of this heritage I remain very critical of anything that runs cross-wise to the Scriptures.

Why am I mentioning all of this ?
Well, I have seen both ends of the Protestant playing field and can therefore exercise patience and love to those from both ends.
But this is not a perfect world and I find that we deal with emotions rather than self control.
And yes, we all miss it.
People will not always see things or understand the experience others have and that's ok, just let it go, that's your brother or sister in Christ,
love them.
Knowledge puffs up but love edifies, said Paul.

While this is very true, we also must use each others personal experiences to grow. Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
I have been rebuked by my brothers and sisters on verying points of contention and though it wasn't very pleasant at the time it has made me re-evaluate why I believe the things I believe, it causes us to go deeper and look for the answers, as a result I have found beneficial correction and on others I have found a stronger stance in the things I knew to be true.
But yes we are told to do this in a loving compassionate way, and I know I fall shamefully short in that respect on many occasions which is obviously where emotions are involved.

As far as Randor is concerned he has helped me ask the question "What of my spiritual experiences?"
Funnily enough this has actually been a topic popping up a lot in my walk only very recently, and is something I really need to address, maybe God wants me to open up a little more to the possibility that He is able to work these same experiences in to my journey with Him and bring me closer to Him.

Even the crazys we get here sometimes make me think about and re-evaluate my beleifs.

I really don't mean it to come across that way. You don't want me to come over there :)

Lets say...if Jesus showed up while your busy cookin pizzas.....would not you fall to the ground, would you not run around in praise? would you not fall at His knees? would you not sing Holy Holy Holy?

And if He did...............would you keep coming at me and others with scriptures?
Or would you not be knockin my door down to tell me what Jesus just did for you while your pizzas burned?

And what I mean about what you called locking yourself in a cupboard is this::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

People have problems....some days they are worse than others.....if they can't get a break through....such as suicide....
and they have done everything they think was possible.....but they left out the most important thing...

Truly seeking God on the issue.......if it takes locking yourself in that cupboard until you hear from Him.

Here is the thing....................God wants us to be serious about Him....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I mean SERIOUS!!!!!
He loves that...........it shows Him that you truly want Him.....He gets jealous ya know :)

And sometimes I think..........that's the only way He can truly reveal Hinself to us...like unlockin some invisible door or something.

And NO!!!!...Ya don't have to tithe, speak in tongues, etc etc..........but people are missing the blessings that come along with doing such things.
For it only strengthens their faith..........and isn't that what we are all striving for?
An unwavering faith......you know that you know...God is real......and no matter what you hear or what you see can EVER take that away from you.
