What is Prim and Proper ?

Prim and Proper means resting in the comfort that things have to be done in a certain way or time subject to ones understanding, or because that is just the way things are or have always been. A prim and proper mindset does not belong to the unlimited Kingdom of God but to the restrictive mindset of the world.

This mindset is a hindrance to the Lord’s plans. Why ? Because God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient meaning He has the full picture as to how, why, when and through whom things have to work out.

Examples of Prim and Proper from the Bible:

Mary and Martha

Martha was busy cooking, cleaning, preparing and such things as a woman is known to be diligent about. In her understanding she was ‘doing the right thing’.
She was deceived into thinking her prim and proper mindset was a good thing, and right for everyone else. She did not take into account the misery that would be brought to others, mainly in this situation her sister - she became hostile in her approach to the situation, requiring her sister to be taken away from the presence of God, so that she could conform to her prim and proper deluded expectations of what was right, which was to do the cooking etc instead.

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42)

There are many other examples in the Bible, such as the Pharisees wanting everything to be orderly and proper in their own understanding.
They rebuked the Lord for His disciples eating corn on the Sabbath (Mat 12:1-8), and also for when the Lord worked miracles on the Sabbath (John 9:13-16).

The problem with the Pharisees is that Jesus didn’t conform to their expectations of how God works, this was a delusion to their thinking, because if they had sought God truly, they would have understood the ways of God.

Prim and proper deludes the person, blinds them, and causes them to deprive others of freedom.
A prim and proper person may use the ‘scowl’ technique or such similar, like Martha did for her sister, but she was rebuked by God.

Why are people Prim and Proper ?

Two prophecies were received whilst writing this short teaching:

Prophecy: “People’s ideologies of the status-quo”
This means people have a theology, an ideology of what normalcy of what life is about - what to expect from life, what should be the normal expectation. However this is a delusion because they do not know what life can throw at them (Luke 12:16-21).

Prophecy: “People are secure in their restricted understanding”
This is because there is no conflict when there is no thinking, when people don’t reason or rationalize, they walk in blindness. It is this blindness that is taking them to hell and the lake of fire, for they refused the instructions of the Lord through the Holy Spirit, as revealed to them through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Prim and proper people never sought the Lord or the intents of wisdom. People embrace a prim and proper mindset or they want things worked out in a certain way because:

· They don’t want challenge or anything that is a confliction of their interests (which are their self-interests opposed to the Kingdom of God).

· They do not want proven to be wrong about their decisions. A person who doesn’t want to be proven wrong (if they are wrong) means that they are still walking in pride, which is not the Kingdom, which shows they are not walking in obedience to the Kingdom to start off with.

· They are lazy in their seeking God, and seek an environment that looks good and pleasing to them, but in reality is restricting others.

· They don’t want anything to conflict with their lives (they don’t want to carry their cross) they want a life where everything is prim and proper, as long as others are suffering, not them.

· They have no interest in conflicting with or fighting against the world system of control. They don’t seek the Lords calling of maturity, and they blindly believe a prim and proper mindset is something that is pleasing to God.

The Results of Prim and Proper ?

· The Prim and proper Christian is among the Goat Christians spoken of by the Lord Himself in Matthew 25 – they brought upon themselves the rebuke of God, not for what they did, but for what they didn’t do.

· Prim and proper people are devoid of the understanding of: ‘Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.’

· Prim and proper deprives them and others of receiving the blessings God has for them.

· Restricts God working in their lives.

· Causes them to be unjust through imposing their restrictions or traditions on others. Through this lack of love – they become an accessory to the damage done to others – just like murder (Proverbs 18:9, Matthew 25:31-36, 1 John 3:15), whether they are conscious of it or not.

Rationality vs Prim and Proper

Prim and proper people often don’t have a true ability to be rational or reasonable or to problem solve. It’s within their ability, but they’re not using it, they use it for other things, but not for the Kingdom.

They don’t believe there is consequences for this neglect, as long as others suffer, and they have everything like they think it should be. Prim and proper people think that’s how things should be.

The problem is they are not motivated by the Word of God – because they don’t truly have a heart for God or love others as they should, for to do so would be to ‘Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.’ This means not making others suffer to have everything prim and proper for themselves.

People need to be objective and detached enough in their reasoning to see the results of the decisions they make. Some believe that being friendly is what things are about. However, their friendly decisions can sometimes be a cause of suffering for others. The Lord said that those who are of the world are friendly with the world.

The prim and proper mindset is a pseudo form of righteousness, it places emphasis on the means worked out in a certain way but this does not bring any real or true results of essence.

It is the prim and proper ‘feel-good factor’ of satisfaction that is what is guiding and motivating the people who oppose the Holy Spirit.

When everything is prim and proper, people feel like things are as they should be. They get the ‘feel good factor’ of satisfaction, and feel that everything has been fulfilled the way that they expected it to. True righteousness places emphasis on the person doing the right thing by God (even if the means are unconventional) so that others are also blessed or liberated.

“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.’ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? (Mat 23:16-19)

If people want the Kingdom of God, they won’t want to walk in the prim and the proper. The message of Christ was life, peace, devotion to God, and prioritizing the eternal.
