Mr O'Reillius, your denial of a fire from the sky, proves your inability to read and understand the prophesies.
Explain these: Isaiah 30:26, Malachi 4:1, Deut 32:22, 2 Peter 3:7, 2 Thess 1:7-8, Hebrews 10:27

Joel 2:1-11 is of course, an allegory. How does an army, [nowhere mentioned as God's army] make the sky darken? But a CME, coming 'with the dawn', will literally make all those vivid details happen.

What is sad, is that secular people; the government and the military know that a massive CME is coming and have made preparations for it. Why is it so hard for those who have God's Word, to understand His plans for His people?

Hey Brucie baby, you didn't PROVE your point; it's still all in your head, and that is confounded by your delusional thinking - which you believe is the truth of God.

Marko, pal, Here are the prophesies I asked you to explain:
Isaiah 30:26 The moon will shine like the sun and the sun will be seven times brighter, on the Day the Lord heals His people. How will that happen and what Day is that?
Malachi 4:1 Surely the Day is coming, it will burn like a furnace, that Day will set all the arrogant and evil people on fire. Ditto?
Deut. 32:22 For a fire has been kindled by My wrath, it will devour the earth and its harvests and set of fire the depths of the mountains. What could do that?
2 Peter 3:7 By God's Word, the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the Day the Lord judges and punishes ungodly men. This is another Noahic event, not the Great White Throne of ALL people at the end of the Millennium.
2 Thess. 1:7-8 ...This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire, punishing all who do not obey God. Then in verse 8, we see it is only to His righteous people that He is revealed.
Hebrews 10:27 But only a fearful expectation of a judgement by raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Again, there will be a Judgement of the nations, Hab 3:12, that only fits with the Sixth Seal.

Silly rabbit: Isaiah 30:26 is not the Day of the Lord, nor is shining brightly a coronal mass ejection.
Malachi 4:1 does NOT say it is from the sun or that it could be a coronal mass ejection.
Deut 32:22 does NOT say it is from the sun or that it could be a coronal mass ejection.
2Pe 3:7 does NOT say it is from the sun or that it could be a coronal mass ejection.
2Th 1:7-8 does NOT say it is from the sun or that it could be a coronal mass ejection.
Heb 10:27 does NOT say it is from the sun or that it could be a coronal mass ejection.

Again, coronal mass ejections happen all the time and unless you're in space, or in the upper atmosphere (above 33,000) and using a polar route (close to 70N) or you're concerned with electronic transmission of energy, or using a radio there's hardly any danger at all - just a spectacular light show as the charged particles hit the earth's protective magnetosphere.

What I asked you, Murcus, was not what you think those verses are NOT, but what you think they ARE
Note in Deut. 32:34-35, this terrible judgement comes from God's storehouse. What is that do you think?

I don't think it has anything to do with your queer, little idea that a normal, everyday coronal mass ejection is somehow going to fry the earth.

Now to return to Retro's partial preterism criticism pleading: Scripture!

I said:

1.)
Jesus told us the Day of the Lord will be preceded by the midpoint abomination (which means the one 'seven' must have begun), then the Great Tribulation, which is then abruptly interrupted by the sun/moon/star event heralding the Day of the Lord, which as Jesus told us (first) sees the gathering of the elect.

2.)
This also aligns with what Jesus showed John with the sixth Seal (not the end of the one 'seven' at Armageddon presented in Rev 19:11) where the sun/moon/star event happens and afterward, the Great Multitude is safe in the "barn of Heaven" before God the Father - and that all comes before God's Wrath - which follows by at least a half an hour after - with an Angel sounding the first Trumpet - which DOES supply the fire and blood for the Day of the Lord's Wrath!

3.)
This also aligns with the parallel account of the one 'seven' with the Rise and Fall of the anti-Christ in Revelation chapters 13 through 16 whereby after the talking image of the anti-Christ occurs first and then two laws come into being (which makes the Great Tribulation so terrible for the Elect) and then Jesus harvests the earth from the clouds - and then God's Wrath follows.

So - before first Trumpet sounds comes we can expect to see the midpoint abomination, the Great Tribulation, the sun/moon/star event, and then the Rapture. We won't even be here to see the Day of the Lord's Wrath and that's why it's not even mentioned to the Church in the Olivet Discourse. Only later is it revealed.

So let's go back to the Bible, and I'll keep it simple so it'll be a short read:

1.)
Mt 24:15 "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
21 For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.
29 "But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
31 And He will send forth His angels with A great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

2.)
Rev 6:12 I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.
Rev 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;
Rev 8:7 The first (Trumpet) sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

3.)
Rev 13:14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life. 15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17 and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Rev 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, " Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe." 16 Then He who sat on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.
Rev 14:17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, the one who has power over fire, came out from the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, " Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe." 19 So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God.

Now the important part is that the sequence of events is consistent and the listed events, although not in every linear narrative are listed in their entirety, can still be put together. Remember: God can omit an event and not commit an error. Giving a sequence comparable to listing the alphabet, if one gives A - B - D - F in one; D - F - G in another; and A - B - F - G in a third: we know from the first listing that D comes after B and before F, and likewise that after F in two listings comes G -- so the whole list is: A - B - D - F - G.

Now there is other action going on, like the scrolling of the sky and the sign of the Son of Man, which I think are the same, and still other things are going on, like the Jews fleeing in Judah, and the 144,000 - which I do get into later - but as a very simple timeline for the Church -- the order I gave is right.

And Retro: you're very wrong to assign Daniel 9:27 to Jesus' first Advent and the first Jewish Revolt; the destruction of the Temple just points to the people from whom the desolator comes who does, by force, institute an agreement which starts the one 'seven.' Jesus never made a limited-time offer for salvation.

Marcus quoted: I don't think it has anything to do with your queer, little idea that a normal, everyday coronal mass ejection is somehow going to fry the earth.

What the prophesies are telling us: is a CME of unprecedented magnitude, will strike the earth. On that 'has never been, or will ever be again'. Joel 2:2b. Something the scientists tell us is possible to happen, they say we must protect our electricity grid, prepare shelters, etc.

I posted seven prophesies in #63, that can only be properly explained by a CME. As we see from most, if not all the miracles done by God in ancient times, He used natural means, in His perfect timing, to carry them out. Even the crossing of the Red sea was achieved by a 'strong east wind'. Exodus 14:21 The great Flood got rid of all the evil and ungodly people in Noah's day. God promised to never again flood the earth, or to virtually destroy mankind again. But in Deuteronomy 32:34-35, we see that God 'has in His storehouse' His punishment ready for the Day 'his enemies "foot slips", that is: makes a mistake. That mistake will be the commencement of an attack on Israel with nuke missiles. The destruction of all those attackers will be quickly and comprehensively achieved by all the effects of a massive CME. Psalm 83, Ezekiel 30:1-5, Isaiah 17:1, Amos 1.
Why deny the truth? God will take action, we know that He does not let His enemies go unpunished forever, Nahum 1:2, and also there are some who are made for destruction. Romans 9:22

Fire in the Sky

God will cause man to fight a nuclear war, which will destroy and thin the atmosphere and let more meteors impact the earth.

Jeremiah 25:15-17,
15 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.
17 Then took I the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:
18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

(((God cause man to fight man by nuclear war)))
31A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

2 Peter 3:10–15 KJV
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Revelation 6:12–14 KJV
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Isaiah 34:1–8 KJV
34 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth
hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Another Old Testament prophet, Isaiah, also foresaw the nuclear war and he prophesied that the heavens will burn and roll up as a scroll. Apparently, all of the airplanes and nuclear missiles will fall from the sky during the war when the atmosphere burns. This judgment will be on all nations.

Isaiah 51:5–11 KJV
5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Isaiah 25:1–7 KJV
4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

(See ozone layer burn off and roll up as a scroll in next verse.)

7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

In Isaiah 30:25–26, it says that the sun will become seven times stronger in the day of great slaughter. The day of great slaughter happens when the nuclear war takes place and the ozone layer is burned up as a scroll. Malachi 4:1 says that the earth will burn as an oven. In looking to the encyclopedia to see what parts of the atmosphere can burn, you will discover that the ozone is a triple oxygen molecule.
The ozone layer and the hydrogen layer are next to each other in the atmosphere above the earth. The chemical reaction when they burn is as follows:
Heat + oxygen + hydrogen = H2O (water) + greater heat
The ozone and hydrogen layers will be set on fire over Israel by an atomic blast, and then they will burn like the Hindenburg blimp. When the ozone and hydrogen burn, it will form hot water vapor that will condense into water droplets that will then become rain, which will form great hailstones that will fall to the earth along with torrential rain. When the atmosphere burns, the heavens will roll up as a scroll all the way around the earth, over every nation.

Eric, your idea of a nuke war is wrong. Firstly because a nuke war in the Northern hemisphere would not affect me in New Zealand. The latitudinal winds form a barrier for fallout.
But mainly because the Lord says; their turmoil has called forth My wrath. Ezekiel 7:14 and most verses make it clear this punishment come from the Lord; His sword, His fiery arrows, the fire of His anger, etc.
Anyway Isaiah 30:26 says it is the SUN that becomes seven times brighter, [stronger] not our ozone layer. A nuke war fits none of the seven verses I posted in #63.

Keras,
I agree that it is the sun that burns mankind after it gets sevenfold strenth. But I believe it is a longer process after the ozone vail is destroyed in Isaiah 25:4-7

You have nothing. Coronal mass ejections simply don't do what is in prophecy. You are deluded by your own thinking. You judge yourself correct, and conclude what you state out of thin air is the truth of God. It's sad really. I'll let you and the nuke star duke it out. One thing we can observe is that while God tells us what He will do, He really tells us how He will do it.

Daniel 9:27 - what's it mean Retro? Let's hear your preterist take. I've heard it a couple of times before: let the few other folk that read this know it too.
Sure. The first thing one must understand is simple grammar, preferably from the Hebrew, since the passage was originally written in Hebrew, but in English as well.

Here’s the Hebrew transliterated:

Dani’el 9:26-27
26 V’achareey hashaaVu`iym shishiym uwshnayim yikaareet Maashiyach v’eeyn low vhaa`iyr vhaqodesh yashchiyt `am naagiyd habaa’ vqitsow basheTef v`ad qeets milchaamaah necheretset shomeemowt:
27 Vhigbiyr briyt laarabiym shaaVuwa` echaad vachatsiy hashaaVuwa` yashbiyt zeVach uwminchaah v`al knaf shiquwtsiym mshomeem v`ad kaalaah vnecheraatsaah titakh `al shomeem:

JPS Hebrew-English TANAKH

In verse 26, notice that the highlighted phrase consists of two nouns put back-to-back. The Hebrew word “`am” means “people.” The Hebrew word “naagiyd” means “prince.” When we translate into English, this pair of nouns, called a “noun construct state” in Hebrew, has the word “of” added between them: “people of prince.” For clarity, we might also add the definite article (although it is not present in the original): “[the] people of [the] prince.” In such a phrase, both in Hebrew and in the English translation, the first word “people” is the noun that may be part of the sentence grammar directly, participating in the activity of the verb as the subject, direct object, or the indirect object. The second noun is subordinate to the first in Hebrew and an object of the preposition “of” in English. In BOTH languages, the second noun cannot participate in the sentence grammar directly. In English, as a prepositional phrase, “of [the] prince,” the whole phrase is treated as an adjective or an adverb, describing a noun or the verb that does participate in the grammar. In this particular sentence, the phrase answers “WHICH people?” Thus, it is an adjective phrase that describes “people."

The ONLY active singular noun that has participated in the sentence grammar directly and refers to a single person has been “Maashiyach” or “[the] Messiah.” Thus, the verbs (which imply the pronoun “he”) that follow must refer back to “Maashiyach,” NOT to “naagiyd!” This is particularly true for subsequent “sentences” which give no subject noun, as those in verse 27! Therefore, the “he” found in verse 27 (all locations) MUST refer back to “Maashiyach!"

So, when we read (in translation),

Daniel 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
KJV

the instances of “he” in verse 27 refer to “Messiah” in verse 26.

Now, the word “confirm” in verse 27 is the Hebrew word “Vhigbiyr,” translated fully to “And-he-shall-confirm,” the leading vav, “V-,” being the connective “And.” The rest comes from the Hebrew word “gaaVar”:

OT:1396 gaaVar (gaw-bar'); a primitive root; to be strong; by implication, to prevail, act insolently:
KJV - exceed, confirm, be great, be mighty, prevail, put to more [strength], strengthen, be stronger, be valiant.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

[As is typical with Strong’s, the “bet” (Hebrew letter equivalent to our “b”), missing the dagesh (the middle dot), is really the Hebrew letter “vet” (the Hebrew letter equivalent to our “v”), and is pronounced as a “v” in “victory.” Hence, I transliterate it as a “V.”]

In Hebrew, this is the verb that is applied to the direct object noun, “briyt,” meaning “a covenant." In English, the active verb form of “strong” (an adjective) is “to strengthen.” Therefore, the word could also be translated “And-he-shall-strengthen.” However, using a Roget’s Thesaurus, one can find that “strengthening” an agreement, such as a “covenant,” can be the English word to "ratify” a covenant, meaning to “substantiate” the agreement.

It does NOT mean to “MAKE” a covenant! It means to “STRENGTHEN” an already existing covenant!

So, the conclusion is that verse 27 says:

1. MESSIAH shall strengthen a covenant with many for one Seven;
2. In the midst (middle) of the Seven MESSIAH shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and
3. For the overspreading of abominations MESSIAH shall make it (the city or the sanctuary) desolate, even until the consummation (conclusion).

And, those “abominations” are not HIS “abominations," obviously!

Furthermore, we are also given the additional information...
3a. That determined (decided; decreed) shall be poured upon the desolate (NOT the “desolator!”).

The “desolate” are those upon whom the “desolation” comes or those who are made “desolate."

These points are CONFIRMED in Scripture!

1. This is the longest to describe for sheer volume of Scripture passages: 1 Samuel 13:14; 16:12-13; 2 Samuel 2:4, 11; 5:1-5; 7:5-16 (although it could be the WHOLE chapter 7); 1 Chronicles 11:1-3; 17:7-14; Psalm 89:3-4, 20-37 (although, again, it is the WHOLE psalm - the WHOLE song). David (pronounced “Dah-VEED,” btw), Yeshua`s ancestor and the original king of his dynasty, was the first “King of the Jews.” He reigned in Hevrown (Hebron) for a little more than 7 years before he conquered Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) from haYvuwciym (the Jebusites) and was anointed king over Isra’el by the rest of the tribes’ leaders. The leaders of his own tribe came to HIM and anointed HIM to be their king before the rest of Isra’el “got over” Sha`uwl’s (Saul’s) dynasty. Being anointed, he was an "anointed one” - a “maashiyach” - a “messiah” - a “christos” - a “christ" - the same as his greater grandson, Yeshua`, whom people today call “Jesus [the] Christ.” It was THIS Davidic covenant which God made with David which the Messiah Yeshua` CONFIRMED and RATIFIED simply by “fulfilling all righteousness” and humbling Himself to be immersed by Yochanan (Matthew 3:13-17). Thus, Yeshua` was called “the Son of God” in the ears of others, and was anointed by the Ruach haQodesh, the Holy Spirit, of God, in fulfillment of the Davidic covenant, namely that David’s descendant would “call God his Father, and God would call Him His Son!” (See also Psalm 2:1-12.)
1 Chronicles 17:7-14
7 Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
8 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
9 Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
10 And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
11 And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:
14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
KJV

1 Chronicles 22:8-10
8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
KJV

1 Chronicles 28:2-7
2 Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
4 Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
5 And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
6 And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
KJV

Isaiah 55:1-4
1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
KJV

Jeremiah 33:19-22
19 And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,
20 Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
KJV

David is one of the few names that are mentioned in both lineages of the Messiah (Matt. 1 and Luke 3), and Yeshua` is the ONE Person argued by Mattityahu (Matthew) to be the rightful Heir to David’s throne! So, when the Scriptures tell us that David passed on His covenant to His children and grandchildren through Shlomoh (Solomon), that it took David seven and a half years to be anointed king over Isra’el, and that God would call David’s “seed” His Son, it should take Yeshua` LESS time - seven years - the one Seven - to be anointed king over Isra’el, that is, with a FAITHFUL generation, not the faithless ones who rejected Him and crucified Him at His first coming. Notice one of the six reasons for the final 70 Sevens:

Daniel 9:24
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
KJV

To anoint, not the PLACE, but the PERSON, the “most Holy!"

2. The Messiah caused the sacrifice and the oblation (the gift) to cease:

Hebrews 10:1-22
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting (anticipating) till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, THERE IS NO MORE OFFERING FOR SIN.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water (baptism).
KJV

Matthew 27:50-53
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
KJV

Mark 15:37-38
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
KJV

Luke 23:44-46
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
KJV

Oh, sure. While there was still a Temple for the next 40 years of testing, they still made animal sacrifices, but GOD was no longer accepting those slaughters as true sacrifices! Yeshua` was the ONE AND ONLY SACRIFICE from that moment on! There’s even the report that, following Yeshua`s death, no longer would the scarlet thread tied about the scape goat sacrifice on the Day of Atonement turn from red to white, signifying God’s acceptance of the sacrifice!

3. For the overspreading of abominations THE MESSIAH made it desolate, even until the consummation (conclusion):

Matthew 23:1-39
1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying,
The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate!
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

KJV

And so, they’ve been left desolate ever since until this day! Yeshua` gave a sampling of all their abominations against God and Himself; then, He pronounced them “DESOLATE” until the end - until they can say, “Baruwkh haha’ b-shem YHWH.” (See Psalm 118:26.) That’s Hebrew for “Welcome, Comer in the Name of - in the authority of - YHWH,” finally recognizing Yeshua` as GOD’S Anointed One - GOD'S Messiah! For almost 2,000 years now, that decided against them has been poured out on them, and it will continue to be poured on them until the conclusion - the consummation - when they finally knuckle under and say, “UNCLE! We give up! We want what the Christians have! We want our Messiah back, and we will welcome Him when He comes!” THEN Yeshua` will return and pick up where He left off with a new generation!

See, HE put the gap in the middle of the Seven! When He left them desolate and ended the sacrifice, HE postponed the second half of the Seven until His people knuckled under! He offered them His Kingdom BEFORE He was crucified, and He will offer them His Kingdom AFTER He returns! We’ve been LIVING in the “Great Tribulation,” THEIR “horrific pressure," sandwiched between for the last two millennia!

Christians have put FAR too much emphasis on a “seven-year period” and an “antichrist!” That is NOT who is seen in Daniel 9:26-27! That “prince” was Titus who DID come ... in the first century! The people of that “prince,” the Romans, particularly the Roman soldiers, burned and tore the Temple apart, stone by stone, until there was nothing left standing! Thus, ANY and EVERY theory based on seeing an “antichrist” in Daniel 9:24-27 should be discarded!

What Yeshua` was talking about in His "Olivet Discourse” (Matthew 24, 25; Mark 13; and Luke 21) was the ultimate result of those “abominations that led to desolation” - the “abomination OF the desolation,” namely the desecration of the Temple, the most terrifying and horrible abomination of all to a Jew!

------

Shalom, Eric and all.

You’re forgetting the most important “ingredient” to these prophecies:

Deuteronomy 4:24
24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
KJV

Hebrews 12:28-29
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
KJV

He who created the nuclear nature of the stars and even our sun wields FAR MORE DESTRUCTIVE ENERGY than mere nuclear bombs!

I've scanned your post (because it's too long to really read) and I think you've presented yet another post full of pointed verbiage which declares certain "truths" but misses alternate meanings which changes your assertions to something else altogether.

I've heard your arguments before and I still reject them. I'll put up my research on this, and because we've gone over this so much, and it's not worth the effort to start from scratch, I'll just re-post what I've already done to show a viable argument to the reader... And I can do it without taking up three feet of web page.

I explained and gave scripture as to why I believe a God caused nuclear war will judge the earth and Israel. I don't need to convince Keras or you. But I will answer interested questioners.

Nuclear explosions are not out of the question. I can think of two instances where their effects are described, and a third which describes modern NBC cleanup afterwards. However, I don't think any of the fire verses connected to the Day of The Lord concerns nuclear explosions because 1. The effects surpass what is written the fire does, and 2. the side affects would make Israel a wasteland, and Jerusalem is inhabited through the one 'seven' and afterward.

The women and children are carried to the other end of the earth when the fire falls and the heavens are darkened Isaiah 5:24-30. At the middle of the tribulation the antichrist turns the armies of the world against Jerusalem but the Lord Jesus will come down to the mount of Olives and split it so the men can escape Zachariah 14:1-4.
They will flee to the river ford on the Arnon River which is 1/3 of the way south on Jordan's side of the Dead Sea Isaiah 16:1-5.

How the heck do make up stuff like that from what Isaiah wrote?

Isa 5:24
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubble
And dry grass collapses into the flame,
So their root will become like rot and their blossom fnblow away as dust;
For they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isa 5:25
On this account the anger of the LORD has burned against His people,
And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them down.
And the mountains quaked, and their corpses fnlay like refuse in the middle of the streets.
For all this His anger fnis not spent,
But His hand is still stretched out.

Isa 5:26
He will also lift up a standard to the fndistant nation,
And will whistle for it from the ends of the earth;
And behold, it will come with speed swiftly.

Isa 5:27
No one in it is weary or stumbles,
None slumbers or sleeps;
Nor is the belt at its waist undone,
Nor its sandal strap broken.

Isa 5:28
fnIts arrows are sharp and all its bows are bent;
The hoofs of its horses fnseem like flint and its chariot wheels like a whirlwind.

Isa 5:29
Its roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions;
It growls as it seizes the prey
And carries it off with no one to deliver it.

Isa 5:30
And it will growl over it in that day like the roaring of the sea.
If one looks to the land, behold, there is darkness and distress;
Even the light is darkened by its clouds.

Nowhere does he say "women and children are carried to the other end of the earth."

Thank you Retro, God IS a consuming fire and He will carry out exactly what His prophets said He would.
I read all of your post #71. You are a good Hebrew scholar, but I disagree that the 'Anointed Prince', of Daniel 11:26a is the same as the prince mentioned in 26b and in v27.

Eric; please! You confuse and mix up the Day of wrath, the Gog/Magog attack, the Great Tribulation and Armageddon all in one great mish-mash!

Marcus; You are correct: the Lord will NOT allow a nuke explosion in any part of the Holy Land. But Iran is outside of that area and we have many prophesies that tell us how God will cause His enemies weapons to 'recoil upon themselves'. Psalm 7:12-15, Obad. 15, Hab 3:14

...
You’ve misunderstood what I said somehow. I never said that the “princes” were the same; I said that the “Messiahs” are the same! The “prince" who is the Messiah in verse 25 is NOT the same as the “prince” of 26! FORGET the “prince” of Daniel 9:26! He was merely a blip in Israel’s history! Here’s the Hebrew text (transliterated) of Daniel 9:24-27:

PLEASE try to be sure that the verses you’re quoting as though they are to be fulfilled in the future have not already been fulfilled in the past! If you mishmash the prophecies, that’s a far worse error than having a mishmash of wars!

Guys, you both have the tendency to make statements about the “earth” (Hebrew: ha’erets) about the PLANET instead of about the LAND! There must be VERY SPECIFIC references that denote the entire planet, because most of the time the Hebrew word is about the Land of Israel!

In spite of the fact that our planet is said to be one of the smaller ones in the solar system, it is still a VERY LARGE planet from our perspective! If a fly were to land on a huge ball that was twice the size of a normal sized two-story house, that fly would have the same perspective of seeing the surface of that ball as being flat. Our planet is MUCH bigger than we often give it credit for being, especially when we wax eloquent regarding biblical prophecy. It’s a common error to generalize too much and universalize what the Scriptures are actually saying, blowing it up to magnificent proportions when neither the author nor the Author intended that interpretation of the passage!

For instance, I’ve heard preachers say that “heaven and earth shall pass away” means that "God is going to destroy the WHOLE UNIVERSE!" (Absurd.) Why should God destroy the splendor and magnificence of His whole, vast Creation for mere specks of humanity on our insignificant planet?! That’s just GOOFY! God wouldn’t discard it all for ... hmph! ... US! Just who do we think we are, anyway?!

Remember: Being a teacher of an opinion carries a far greater responsibility than just having that opinion! It should be a very sobering thought to think that you might be responsible for leading others astray! Check and double check everything that you’re teaching! Make doubly sure that you know what you’re talking about, because even then, you may yet be on the wrong track!

James 3:1-2
1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.
NIV

I say this to myself as well as to you: Be sure of what you teach ... or qualify what you teach with the addition of a simple admission that “this is my opinion."

I explained and gave scripture as to why I believe a God caused nuclear war will judge the earth and Israel. I don't need to convince Keras or you. But I will answer interested questioners.
Here’s an excerpt from Wikipedia regarding the world’s largest detonated nuclear bomb:

The Tsar Bomba detonated at 11:32 (Moscow time) on October 30, 1961, over the Mityushikha Bay nuclear testing range (Sukhoy Nos Zone C), north of the Arctic Circle over the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arctic Sea. The bomb was dropped from an altitude of 10.5 kilometres (6.5 mi); it was designed to detonate at a height of 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) over the land surface (4.2 kilometres (2.6 mi) over sea level) by barometric sensors.

The original, November 1961 AEC estimate of the yield was 55–60 Mt, but since 1992 all Russian sources have stated its yield as 50 Mt. Khrushchev warned in a filmed speech to the Supreme Soviet of the existence of a 100 Mt bomb. (Technically the design was capable of this yield.) Although simplistic fireball calculations predicted the fireball would hit the ground, the bomb's own shock wave reflected back and prevented this.[9] The fireball reached nearly as high as the altitude of the release plane and was visible at almost 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) away from where it ascended. The subsequent mushroom cloud was about 64 kilometres (40 mi) high (over seven times the height of Mount Everest), which meant that the cloud was above the stratosphere and well inside the mesosphere when it peaked. The cap of the mushroom cloud had a peak width of 95 kilometres (59 mi). The base of the cloud was 40 kilometres (25 mi) wide. All buildings in the village of Severny (both wooden and brick), located 55 kilometres (34 mi) from ground zero within the Sukhoy Nos test range, were destroyed. In districts hundreds of kilometers from ground zero wooden houses were destroyed, stone ones lost their roofs, windows and doors; and radio communications were interrupted for almost one hour. One participant in the test saw a bright flash through dark goggles and felt the effects of a thermal pulse even at a distance of 270 kilometres (170 mi). The heat from the explosion could have caused third-degree burns 100 km (62 mi) away from ground zero. A shock wave was observed in the air at Dikson settlement 700 kilometres (430 mi) away; windowpanes were partially broken to distances of 900 kilometres (560 mi).[10] Atmospheric focusing caused blast damage at even greater distances, breaking windows in Norway and Finland. The seismic shock[verification needed] created by the detonation was measurable even on its third passage around the Earth.[11] Its seismic body wave magnitude was about 5 to 5.25.[9] The energy yield was around 8.1 on the Richter scale but, since the bomb was detonated in the air rather than underground, most of the energy was not converted to seismic waves. The TNT equivalent of the 50 Mt test could be represented by a cube of TNT 312 metres (1023 feet) on a side, approximately the height of the Eiffel Tower.
While devastating to anything within 62 miles away and causing some form of damage up to 560 miles away, It would hardly affect the “whole earth” as the planet. Our planet’s equatorial circumference is approximately 24,902 miles! Now, granted, a full-scale nuclear war with multiple detonations could do significant damage to the planet, but we have NO SUCH PREDICTION in the Scriptures! To the contrary, both Marcus and keras are right:

Remember: Israel was told...

Isaiah 54:8-17
8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Thanks again, Retro. I did think after I had posted, I might have got you wrong. However, I do believe the 'prince that shall come', that is: AFTER the Messiah, will be the Anti-Christ; the 'beast of Rev. 13.

Re prophesies fulfilled; because the historical record does not cite any past event that fits, because there is quite often a dual fulfilment, but mainly because what is described is in a context of end time prophesies, I am confident of my correct usage of all the prophesies that I quote.

Re wars; Is everyone happy to ignore Ezekiel 7:14? And how most prophesies about 'wars' say it is the Lord Himself who will destroy the enemies?
