Your question is somewhat tendentious.
God is the Creator. He makes everything according to His purposes. He made water flood the earth in Noah's day and He has fire stored up for the Day of wrath against the nations. Deuteronomy 32:22 & 34-35

Your opinion seems to you to be logical, informed and intelligent, but does that conform to the prophetic Word? Or to scientific understanding?
Richard Fisher, [was?] the Director of Heliophysics NASA. He said: not if but when, the sun will emit a massive CME, that will decimate the earth. We have no way of predicting such an event.
It CAN happen and there is no other way the explicit prophesies can literally be fulfilled. It WILL happen, denial will simply leave you 'in the dark' about God 's plans.

One quote from him is; 'We know a CME is likely to strike the earth, but we don't know how bad it will be'.
I aren't sure if it was him that used 'decimate' or another scientist. But he certainly is warning that could happen.

Disagreeing with what the Bible actually says is hardly a sensible option. Many prophesies make it clear; this sudden and shocking blast of fire from the sun will virtually wipe out the Middle East and severely affect all the rest of the world.
Denial of this truth simply 'leaves you in the dark' and unaware of God's plans for our future.

Marcus, I read and quote what the Prophetic Word actually says.

As for the devastation of this forthcoming CME, in Zechariah 13:8-9, the Bible says that in the Holy Land, 2/3 of the people will be struck down and die. Then that 1/3 will be refined and only a remnant will survive. This is talking about Israel and the Jewish people. Isaiah 6:11-13 ...only a holy seed will remain.
Those nations and entities surrounding Israel whose attack triggers the Lord's wrath, will be wiped out completely. Psalm 83, Micah 4:11-12, Ezekiel 30:1-5
Then for the rest of the world, Zephaniah 3:8, Rev. 6:12-17, we will lose most of our modern infrastructure and many will be killed. Jer. 9:22, Jer. 25:33, Isaiah 31:12, Isaiah 54:6, Psalm 37:9-10 & 20

Believe the Bible? Then believe what it tells us will happen in the 'latter days'.
According to the time periods of the Patriarchs, the Judean kings and then from the known date of the Babylonian conquest, 5985 years have elapsed since Adam. Therefore, we have only 15 + - 1 or 2 years, until the last 1000 years of the Millennium. Much is prophesied to happen before Jesus Returns for His reign, so expect dramatic events very soon!

Paul is referring here to the glorious Day of the Lord's Return for his Millennial reign. He goes on to say that the 'man of perdition', that is: the Anti-Christ must be revealed before that Day and will place his image in the Temple.

So, many things will happen before the Return, starting with the Lord's Day of vengeance and wrath, a well prophesied Day of the judgement/punishment of the nations. This enables the rise of the AC, but also the gathering of the Lord's righteous people in the Holy Land, where they will build a new Temple.
The visible Return comes later, described in Rev. 16:14 as the great Day of the Sovereign Lord and in Rev 19:11-21, Matthew 24:30 and Zechariah 14:3-21.

The Day of the Lord is at hand for all the nations
