Okay Friends,

We all seem to be fairly knowledgeable in our faith and fairly confident and convicted. I'm curious though, how does it hold up to a non-believer. I present to you a scenario.

A friend of a stranger, doesn't matter really, approaches you. They are at rock bottom. They feel outcast from the world. They've lost everything. This includes family, hope, and the will to live. They are drowning in the world around them and they do not see a light at the end of the tunnel. Their whole life has been like this, a troubled past. It all finally caught up to them and here they are in front of you, broken, drifting, drowning. They are looking to you.

What would you do?

Awesome!! Are you allowed to present the gospel to your clients? Or do they frown on that in the professional world?

I suppose that my life would have to be a testimony of what God can do and present them with the evidence or present someone else's
life that was in the same scenario as they are and show them what Christ did for them ... in short I would be giving them hope.
If God did it for me or so and so, then God can do it for you as well.

Examples from my own life;

I was in my late twenties, no education to boast about, no friends, no money, hunted by the law, drug addict, loser, violent, no hope,
no future.
I called on Christ to save me and give me a hope.

He responded, by filling me with his Holy spirit one afternoon in my bedroom, it felt like rain falling through my ceiling.

Then I spoke to him about my past and decided to clear things with the law ... I walked into their offices expecting nothing but prison
time.
Within 2 hours I was set free and told to go home ... Jesus gave me a brand new start.

My Pastor lambasted the men one day telling them to get off their lazy rear ends and go find a job because the wives were complaining.
He said God was not going to drop a job into our laps.
I got real angry with that and said to myself that God would bring a job to me because I had no education so where was I supposed to go ?
Three weeks or so later a man came to the church offering a job and gave his number to the pastor who gave it out to about 20 guys
one evening at a prayer meeting, myself included ... I phoned him the next day and asked if anyone else had contacted him, he said no.
Then he told me to come and see him and so I did ... 10 minutes later I got the job.
God dropped a job into my lap !

At my second job, my boss told me he would give me shares in the business but as the years went on he forgot about his promise.
He then told me he is selling the business to a friend ... I prayed about it and God answered me by causing his friend to decline to buy
the business.
He then got another guy in who took over the business for three months and month after month the turnover went up and up and so he
increased the price to the guy month by month.
I prayed everyday and eventually the guy had enough and backed out.

I then approached him to sell me the business but he said that I needed a business education and guess what, he paid for it ... so off I went to
business college and flunked.
I told him I would do it again ... he said that I would NEVER be able to do all the courses and examinations in one year, that it was too much.
I said no, I could, so I studied again, and prayed and prayed and prayed.
When I went to write the exams and they asked me the exact questions I had studied ... I passed everything.

Then he said I would need the money for my overheads for the first month and he couldn't help me.
So off I went to bank after bank with a two inch thick bundle of paperwork ... they all turned me down.
So I prayed and prayed and prayed.
Then I got a call from him one afternoon ... he said he would give me the money ... praise God.
The following month I started off the business under my name ... glory be to Jesus.

Oh, before this I prayed for a wife and was turned by God, he said I needed a job first.
So after I got this second job which payed me a better salary I prayed again ... God manifested himself to me in the storeroom
and dropped a picture slide into my mind of the woman I was to marry.
I knew her from church but never had an interest in her, well now things were different, she was to be my wife.
So I went out on a date with her and by the end of the day I was totally nuts over her and three months later we got married.

I never had money for a ring so out of the blue my boss gave me a couple of thousand for a wedding ring ... did I say thank you Jesus ?
Thank you Lord, with all my heart.

I could go on and on ... it's the testimony of the power of God that makes all the difference.

Lastly, my wife and I got into a serious argument and the word divorce was thrown around and we were headed for the courts.
so I prayed again and again and at a sunday service my pastor during his preaching called me by name - twice - and said that God was
going to bring a turn around in my life.
Not a week later, my wife and I began speaking again and now we're on the road to recovery ... did I say thank you Jesus ?
Thank you Lord with all my heart.
I love you Jesus you are my rock, my strong tower, my great reward, my life is in your hands.

I have a testimony, I have Christ.

You just answered your question for us. Present Christ (the Gospel, Good News) to them. Sometimes, you can talk.

I just proposed a spirituality group that will start in Jan. It is more like AA than Christian, but we have to go that route because we have to be careful......many people with psychiatric disorders are 'religiously fixated', which means that their mental illness latches on to religious ideas and vocabulary. For these folks, Christian or any other religious system would contribute to their mental illness rather that treat it.

I prayer for all my clients the night before I see them. I trust that God will lead them to wholeness.

I would give them Matt 10:39 'Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it' and Psalm 125:1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

Matt_11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matt_11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matt_11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I just wanted to add regarding "How does your faith hold up to a stranger", that everyone is different and you really must rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you when someone else is involved. Jesus did not use a "cookie cutter" methodology on men and I should not either. I really don't know ahead of time how the Lord will lead us and so I can't really say. We must be walking in harmony with Him (abiding in Him) at the time to be of any use to Him. I have spoken with many people about the Lord and every situation is as different as the person is.

Jesus did not help everyone that was at rock bottom. I know that is shocking, but He didn't. He did not heal everyone that was suffering from sickness. He departed from the multitude many times rather than meet everyone's needs.

Christianity is not a walk defined by good works but a walk defined by the life of Christ.

Jesus Christ responds to faith, not needs. Man responds to needs (Socialism), but that only enslaves people to men. Christ sets you free to serve Him and others regardless of what you get in return in this life.
