affairs of this life, for then you cannot satisfy the one who has enlisted you
in his army.

The koiné Greek word for "affairs" is pragmateia (prag-mat-i'-ah) which
refers to transactions.

One of Webster's definitions of "transaction" is a communicative action or
activity involving two parties or things that reciprocally affect or influence
each other. That definition can apply to any number of human affairs
including, but not limited to, business and politics.

I sincerely believe that when Martin Luther King Jr got involved in the civil
rights movement, and began using the lectern of his church as a soap box to
express his political views; he committed one of the worst sins that a
minister ordained to serve Jesus Christ can commit: the sin of
insubordination.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the man America extols as a hero and a role model
turns out to be a shameful disgrace in the eyes of God?

Well, politics in general I think are worldly and fleshly. I mean, just look at Fox news or the media in general, always bickering and fighting. Not owning a t.v. is a start.

I am not a Christian minister ordained to serve Jesus Christ.

I am a rank and file pew warmer who depends upon ordained ministers like
King to stay the course and tend the sheep whom Christ has entrusted to
their care instead of leaving home and running off to do their own thing in
the world of political activism-- a humanistic world that cares little for the
Lord's sheep, and even less for the duties and responsibilities of Christian
ministers ordained to serve Jesus Christ; which are:

†. 2Tim 4:1-5 . . In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge
the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give
you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season;
correct, rebuke and encourage-- with great patience and careful instruction.

. . . For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great
number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will
turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep
your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist,
discharge all the duties of your ministry.

In spite of appearances, I suspect that King despised church life as an
inconvenience: a ball and chain holding him back from what he really
wanted to do. His track record speaks for itself-- King's heart was never
really in church life; his heart was in politics and public speaking. Tsk.

"No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the
kingdom of God." (Luke 9:61-62)

I think your post is filled with false accusations. Making statements such as King despised church, and his heart was not for the church, is a judgment you should not make on a fellow brother in Christ unless you know it as truth. You are the one in sin, slandering a persons name with no true evidence.

we are all called to serve God in many ways, to help others receive equal treatment in a country that claims it is a right to its citizens is not breaking any law, but it was those in authority that we're going against the constitution

Seems to me Martin Luther King was the one following the way of God established by this Decloration, and the evil governing forces against African Americans were the ones in great sin.

Here are similar words of non-Christian slander that we still hear in almost exactly the same way today by certain leaders or politicians who attempt to portray themselves as being 'Christian' or defending 'liberty' or 'freedom' regarding current attempts to defeat bigotry and hatred, while all the time it is they themselves who are in the way of Truth and Love:

"Never before in the history of this nation have so many human and property rights been destroyed by a single enactment of the Congress. It is an act of tyranny. It is the assassin's knife stuck in the back of liberty. I can't see anything wrong with teaching that there ought to be peace rather than bigotry.
Was he saying anything that wasn't about doing unto others as you'd have done to yourself?
Blessed are the peacemakers. If they speak too loudly in this world's system, all too often they end up dead.

Here is what Jesus had to say on this: " The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD."

I wish there had been more like king.

This was him keeping the second great command.

To say he shouldn't have done so is wickedness.

That was him disobeying Paul the apostle's instructions for Christian

The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. was following absolutely scripture when he embarked on his effort to dismantle in injustice of the American Apartheid. He did not express his political views. God commands us to be just. He confronted the injustice of an allegedly Christian America which had encoded a system of oppression of the Negro race.

Mic 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?


Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

Study this verse an see if you can figure out what it means to you:

Rom 14:4 Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.

You would do well to insure that you do not turn out to be a shameful disgrace in the eyes of the Lord by having slandered his servant and martyr. That might not be an irony in which you would take such delight.
