Neither Jesus nor any of the Apostles ever said to any person, "I love you." And, it is not sufficient to say that because not all of their words are recorded in the Bible we can then imagine they said it.The "I love you" statement is of human contrivance. It is not presented in Scripture because God knows actions are the operative feature of true agape.I Corinthians 4:20, "For the kingdom of god is not in word, but in power." I John 3:18, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and truth."James 2:17, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."Shelli.

John 15:13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. He laid his life for usJohn 13:34-35A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. If what you say is True, why did he say love another, AS I LOVED YOU.WRONG

Was Jesus referring to an "I love you" He said with words, or an "I love you" He showed with actions? Jesus never merely uttered the words, "I love you" to anyone. He prophetically demonstrated the words of I John 3:18, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." Right, not wrong.Shelli.

No, it's not presented in the scriptures because nobody thought it essential to write out."Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."~ John 21:25

Does that mean we should use our imaginations to add things to Scripture which kinda "make sense?"Maybe the phrase "I love you" was not recorded in Scripture because Jesus and the Apostles never said it. If it was an important statement and teaching, why was the statement not repeatedly recorded? Are our imaginations important to God? Do you know what Scripture says about human imagination? Shelli.

Goodness...Well, I think that it's far fetched to take a message from silence. I mean, I would rather take in what the scriptures DO tell us, rather than simply read too much into what ISN'T there.

That passage from the Gospel of John says it clearly enough for me. Draw your own conclusions. I can't say it better than scripture.

As I just said, Jesus materially demonstrated His love for us. He never relagated the conveyance of that message to mere words. He never said, "I love you" to any person. He was not that shallow. Why do people say it today?

JFYI everyone:Maybe we should understand when we are getting hit by a troll. When we look on the internet and find characteristics of them, usually they are confrontational even threatening sometimes. Another mark is when they say things totally off the wall that are obviously not true just to get a rise. Sometimes I answer them by cutting and pasting their own words, and they argue with themselves, as what happened here showing they just want to upset things. But if you want to feed that, that is your choice. I've seen forums get upset over the likes and it is not worth it. Heck, I was even on a forum of a famous star (not controversial) and it was amazing how many trolls we got---- and spammers. One sent private emails to one prominent member threatening them --- what "people" won't do because they don't have a life. I ignore them once I suspect them.

We also need to understand we are infested with a little moron who cannot back up his weak little ideas with any substance. They always run off when their loopy ideas, as in the supposed "Godly foundation of America," cannot stand up to even the most basic examination. They get all emotional and personal, just like a woman does. They also like to "chat and share!!" about their ideas.Shelli.

He may not have said it, but He certainly did express it by giving His life as a ransom for all who would believe.
Marc,You are soooo speedy. Thanks for catching up with the original post.

Shelli:Since you seem fixated on behaving exactly as the scripture dictates, I thought this seemed relevant.
Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Does this mean you'd like me to verbally abuse you the way you have the rest of the forum?
