No matter what you are going through you have the victory in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:57)! In this race we are in a battle but we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against those principalities, rulers and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12)! But God says He will bring the high place down (Leviticus 26:30 and Micah 1:3)! And that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but they are mighty through God! (2 Corinthians 10:4). And we have overcame satan through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11) and this is so because Jesus has overcame the world (John 16:33). This song is one of encouragement and strength knowing that no matter what we have the victory and the power to plead the blood of Jesus over whatever situation and its a prayer of protection and promise (Exodus 12:13)! The blood of Jesus shall never loose it power! (Hebrews 9:11-28)! Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus!

This Means War-Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago

I got joy in my soul
God is in control
I got satan on my trail
But I'm singing all is well
He's attacking everyday
But I'm watching while I pray
No matter the attack
I won't turn back

Chorus
This means war---This means war
This means war---This means war

I got joy in my soul
God is in control
I got satan on my trail
But I'm singing all is well
He's attacking everyday
But I'm watching while I pray
No matter the attack
I won't turn back

Chorus
This means war---This means war
This means war---This means war
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood

I've been in the storm and the rain
But the blood still stays the same
Whatever's going wrong
My war clothes are on
I might be in a daze
But you can't have my praise
No matter the attack
I won't turn back

This means war----------This means war
This means war-----------This means war
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood

You can't have my family
You can't have my increase
You can't have my Breakthrough
You can't have my
You can't have my
You cant - you can't ---You can't - I plead

I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
This means war----------This means war
This means war-----------This means war
This means war----------This means war

-------Pause --- music--------
5-6-7-8 (tapping and clapping)
You can't have my family
You can't have my increase
You can't have my Breakthrough
You can't have my
You can't have my
You cant - you can't ---You can't - I plead
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
This means war-----------This means war

So what does it mean:

I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood
I plead, I plead the blood

Over, and
Over, and
Over, and
Over.

Again, and
Again, and
Again, and
Again
The blood of Jesus saves us, protects us, keeps us, heals us and covers us. Thus when we say I plead the blood of Jesus we are saying that we acknowledge the power of Jesus and the uniqueness of His blood in redemption, salvation, deliverance and protection. As the Israelites placed the blood of the lambs on their doorposts in Egypt to protect them from the coming plague of the Lord upon the first born when we as Christians plead the blood of Jesus it is a signal to God of His promise to Christ and a sign to the enemy that he can not harm us because we are covered in the blood of Jesus. The repetition is just apart of the rhythm of the song and the beat and it really pushes the above point you will find it in many African American Christian songs they call it call and repeat not only of "I plead the blood" but other verses as well! Its apart of the rhythm and culture in the unique style of gospel music.

Alan,

I'm an evangelical Christian who accepts all that you said about the blood of Jesus in redemption, salvation and deliverance.

However, to this point in my Christian journey I have found nothing in the NT that encourages me to use an action as, 'I plead the blood'. It sounds awfully like a mantra.

I don't know much about mantras but we pleading the blood of Jesus I do not see as that. Its just apart of how we believe and pray unto God. And in many African American Christian songs you will hear repetitions like the one above its called "call and response". Yet the use of "I plead the blood of Jesus' in private and public prayer and even preaching. Its just a reminder of the power of the blood of Jesus. I know that I'm covered by the blood of Jesus but in me saying it it reminds me and encourages me that I am covered! Thank Jesus for the blood!!!

Alan,

Here's the Oxford dictionaries definition of mantra (Oxford dictionaries 2015. S v mantra).

Perhaps it's a meaningful ritual in the culture of your church.

I've heard it used in some Pentecostal churches I've visited, but when I asked for an explanation, no coherent theological reason was given for the practice. It was more like the practice of tradition - yes, Pentecostal tradition.

I have to agree. It smacks of old time religion, NOT Biblical fact.

John 6
"Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you."

The blood is spiritual. Hebrews, Revelations descriptive is physical (shed blood=physical death). Blood is life in the physical, knowledge in the spiritual. Neither is "plead" IMO.

Taking different parts of scripture out of context to come up with an idea is dangerous. The very act the devil did when tempting Jesus in the desert. Jesus merely rebuked him with knowledge (of truth), as the devil is ignorant.

It is better to rebuke than to plead.

Just a thought.

Maybe I am not understanding correctly and I mean this in all respect I just do not see where you all are coming from, I have heard years coming up and have done it myself about "pleading the blood of Jesus" and I find it scripturally sound. The Bible may not use the word "plead" but it surely does outline the power of the blood of Jesus. And when we say that we plead the blood of Jesus its no mantra or supernatural spell its just what it is the blood of Jesus! A testament to whatever we may be going through and a testimony amongst the believers of the power of the precious blood of Jesus! And when I plead the blood of Jesus and believe I have seen the Lord work not because of my saying the words "I plead the blood of Jesus" because there is not power in the mere words uttered but the power is in the blood I know the Lord is going to work whatever it is out! And thus it serves as encouragement and a reminder to me and others! Not trying to push any practices or doctrines but in many African American churches you will hear someone say "I plead the blood of Jesus". And this is no new phenomena many of the old saints passed this down to us from years back. "And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where yeare: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." (Exodus 12:13)

Unless you actually believe in transubstantiation, you cannot take John 6 as literal. It is metaphorical in a spiritual sense.

There is much vernacular in the modern "church" that is NOT sound, so one can only deal with them individually We never had to PLEAD for the Blood of Christ. It was freely given and we freely received. It is not something we can invoke.

Flesh and blood will pass away. I see no redeeming quality in physical blood or flesh. I don't use the OT to confirm Gospel truth. Jesus told the Jews they had followed the devil. He also said:
John 10
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

I may be beyond my chosen area in this part of the forum. So if I am, I apologize. It took a lot of study and seeking to see the Gospel message without interference with the Hebrew scriptures. And this is what is happening here. Defining the Gospel message with OT is trying to meld physical and spiritual, in my mind. Jesus came with a sword. The sword was division.

It is why I see the "blood" as Holy Spirit, what he received at the Chrism. And plenty of references in John 6 has Jesus defining his body as manna from heaven, aka knowledge, truth.

It's just a difference of perception. I believe God knows the importance of the heart without pleading Jesus blood. But if you believe it does something more........
