Gods has given us a better hope, and that hope is belief, faith, trust and confidence in Jesus' work on the cross.

I am a child of God not by my works but by His.
Paul taught assurance in Christ Eph 1:13 alongside continual self judgment 1 Cor 11:31, Phil 2:12 continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

We can think our belief and faith is something of value, when in fact it could be worthless. As children of the devil, lying to ourselves is a common problem.

I would like to point out that Paul was writing ONLY to the "faithful" saints (Eph 1:1).
These were the ones who were practicing righteousness, etc.
Ditto for his writing to the faithful in Colossae (Col 1:2).

Heb_7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
Heb_7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Heb_8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

The law did its job, it showed the Jews what sin was, it Gave God a way to save man, for without the law there could be no judgement and Christ could not have died for us, nor would there have being a way for His blood which was shed fo r us all, to pay the ulimate price so we ourselves would not have too.

But some still prefer the old covenant, even those top whom it does not apply. and so because the law, convicts them it slays them and there is no grace, for Christ can not be slain each time they sin when they break teh law.

He died for us once he isnt going to climb back on tha tcross for anyman. It is finished.

Eph 1:13-14 is speaking to anyone who believes on His name Zach. "Believed" is past tense...

Eph 1:13-14 NIV And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Rom 10:9-10 NIV / Matt 15:8-9 NIV If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

What NON-OSAS has an issue with is the testimony of the saints.

If you don't believe the saints then you don't believe God and His promises, and you are calling God a liar....

1 John 5:9-14 NIV / Psa 21:4 NIV We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Yes, of course, and also trust that He will lead you and guide you
by His most precious Holy Spirit ... unto practicing righteousness
and obedience to Jesus' commandments ... unto holiness!

By all means, do NOT place your trust in any man, in any church, etc.
Do place your TRUST in the Holy Scriptures and in the Holy Spirit's
ability to enlighten you as to its' spiritual Truths.
Assuming of course, your interpretation of scripture is correct. To rely on your own understanding can be foolish. It is because of those whom do this that scripture gets misinterpreted and leads to such things as heresy. I don't know what has you against looking to any kind of leadership, but take care you are not led astray by your own misunderstandings.

There are several similar NT passages to this one,
but we wouldn't want to trouble you with all of 'em.
Everyone please enjoy my personal favorite ...

“In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest:
whoever does NOT practice righteousness is NOT of God” (1 John 3:10)

If you are a "child of God" as you say, does your life reflect it?
You claim to be His, not by your works, but by His. Well and good.
But do you respond to His love for you? Of course, you aren't perfect, none of us are.
How do you respond, by your works? I respond by placing my faith ( trust and confidence) in Jesus's work on the cross and in so doing I give HIM all the credit and praise.

Religious people respond by having faith in what they do.. Just as the Jews refused Jesus Christ and trusted in their religion; mankind refuses the offer of grace and would rather trust in their works.

The O.T. shows us how God dealt with mankind, both before the law and after the law was added. The first 4 gospels tell us how Jesus fulfilled the O.T. prophesies and how He (Jesus) paid for the sins of all mankind by His shed His blood on a cross (tree).

Since the Jews (His people) refused Jesus as their Messiah and King God has reached out to the Gentiles with a gospel of grace given to us through the writings of Paul.

Believers do practice righteousness because of the perseverance of the saints and their imperishable seed...1 Pet 1:23 NIV / Psalm 106:1 NIV For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

Notice the word "seed"...1 John 3:9 NIV No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

1. This seed, truth and word of God remains in them.
2. This seed, truth and word of God is perishable without the root of Jesus Christ.
3. This seed, truth and word of God is imperishable if you have the root of Jesus Christ.
4. This seed, truth and word of God seals us until redemption.
5. This seed, truth and word of God lives in us and will be with us forever.

Matt 13:20-23 NIV The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

Luke 8:11 NIV “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.

1 John 5:1 NIV Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

2 John 1:2 NIV because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:

So why do you deny the testimony of the saints?

Psalm 130:3-4 NIV If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

Psalm 130:7-8 NIV Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Psalm 135:13-14 NIV Your name, Lord, endures forever, your renown, Lord, through all generations. 14For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

Psalm 136:1-26 NIV (His love endures forever)

Psalm 139:9-10 NIV If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

Psalm 142:3 NIV When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me.

Psalm 145:13-14 NIV Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. 14The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Jude 1:1 NIV Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are (agape) loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:

I'm wondering why the ATP is allowed to post
the same voluminous list of verses over and over gain.
It's quite boring and wastes a lot of forum space.

Especially since they refer only to God's elect,
and not to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who think they're saved.

Jesus explained that the tares are allowed to remain in the kingdom
of God/heaven until the end, at which time they will be weeded out
and tossed into the fire.

Many false professors refuse to practice righteousness
and refuse to obey Jesus' commandments!
They refuse because they do not love Jesus enough to obey Him.

ATP is OSAS...but you probably figured that out.
Frankly, I'm not sure how he gets away with it, either.
But I put him on my ignore list...I figure I'm not missing much, since he just keeps repeating himself anyhow....

It seems to me the very best way to get along on this board...when someone becomes seriously annoying, don't get into a stupid argument with him, and fevvinsake, don't start a stupid "report war"...just put 'em on your ignore list and forget about 'em...

Correct, God's elect. NON-OSAS is false.

The more people who put me on ignore means I am doing my job.

The truth hurts.
