Solomon in Ecclesiastes 12:
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.
14 For God will bring every work into judgment,

including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Yes, often in the OT, God says to keep His commandments.
Also in the OT, God says:
“For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6)

First, let’s deal with “fearing God” …
Matthew 10:
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Next, let’s deal with “keeping God’s commandments” …

But you say, “We are in God’s new covenant!”

And I say, “In the new covenant, born-again believers are
given the indwelling Holy Spirit with the express purpose
of making it a whole lot easier to follow and obey God.”

WARNING:
God does not say, “Don’t bother to keep My commandments.”

No, it’s just the opposite …
the indwelling Holy Spirit has been given to us
to make it easier to keep God’s commandments.

New Testament believers have been given a great blessing and
a great advantage over their counterparts in the Old Testament
in that … it is now easier to meet the demands of a Holy God!

Not to forget, of course, the great sacrifice that God made for us
by sending the Word (Jesus) to die a horrible death on a cross
to make so much of eternal value possible for us!
Yes, all Three of the Triune Godhead have done their part
… and are still working on our behalf.

But you say, “This is all works salvation … everybody’s working!”

And I say, “No, it’s simply about following and obeying Jesus!”
For example …

John 14:
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.
And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him …
23 If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word …
24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words;
and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

Does anyone get to heaven …
who doesn’t love Jesus and obey His commandments?

After reading 1 Kings 11:1-11.... 'No' histories wisest man was not too wise for me :).

1. But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:
2 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
11 Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

Well, Solomon WAS the wisest man at one point, but Jesus said a greater than Solomon is here (mat 12:42).

I believe in keeping his commandments. But you have to know what they are. Some think its The 10 commandments and the rest of the law of Moses, but its not.

Since, as you say, it is easier to keep God's commandments then I suppose you keep them, right? What happens when you don't?

Solomon died and apostate. Ecclesiastes was written when he was basically going in that direction. It makes a the human mind of the wisest man that ever was, but that wisdom ended up being his downfall because he believes his own press. Solomon wrote this when all they had was the pentateuch so really it was the old Covenant only and that's all he knew. We know different today. We know that we live in a New Covenant and that the law has been fulfilled and payment paid by Jesus Christ in his blood sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. He defeated sin and he defeated death. The Holy Spirit was given to us so that we may have power and no what God is written in our hearts. We do not live by the old Covenant laws. I don't know how many times you need to be told this before you pay attention period we live under grace not under the law.

You break one of the ten you break them all, and all it does it condemn you , no salvation that way.., but you already knew that, witout love none of it matters for it is teh greatest of them all, for God is love, unless you read teh ot and read about all the killing He seems to have organised.

What happens when you don't?
When you fall short, you simply repent ... as in 1 John 1:7---2:1,
pick yourself up, and continue on!
Hasn't anyone ever taught you this?

I just duzn't know how many times you need to be told this to pay attention (period?):
-- Part of God's incredible grace was that He gave His precious Holy Spirit to us ...
to make it mucho easier to follow Jesus and obey His commandments.
-- Following and obeying Jesus has nothing to do with living by the OT laws,
however Jesus did instruct us to obey The Ten Commandments.
Do you really need to see all of the verses about being
a slave to obedience ... unto eternal life?
Yes you do, so why not just begin with Romans 6!

Seems like we have many here who ...
did not count the cost of building their tower of salvation
(again, as Jesus instructed).

Butski, who needs to pay attention to Jesus' instructions and commands?
'Cause we're all saved by grace, right?

Yup, it seems that Jesus wasted a whole bunch of words on us!
'Cause we are simply sitting on Ephesians 2:8-9 and laughing, right?

So, carry on sitting and laughing ... to your eternal danger!

Sorry, I don't do incoherent very well. Try rewording this in a cohesive manner.

We is dose who are partaking of God's new covenant.

Takes two to tango ... takes two to covenant too.
Most believers today haven't yet figured out their part.
Let's just hope they do before it's too late for them!

News Flash ... all covenants are co-operative efforts.
In our case, our part of the co-operation is
NOT just believing John 3:16 and Eph 2:8-9.

Yup ... read the whole Bible ... I'll send you one.
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Obviously you didn't read it. Did you come here just to troll and complain?

Lots of people come to Christian forums to complain about what they
perceive to be extremely dangerous false doctrine being spewed out.
I'm one of them.

And the people who are guilty of insisting on deceiving others spiritually
with their unscriptural doctrines are supposed to be tolerated and loved?
I say (along with the epistle writers) that these dangerous people
should be called out ... and warned against being followed.
For are those who preach "another gospel" true believers?

Zach, dude.... I'm only attacking your methods. But you cherry pick verses and rarely -- if at all- take things in proper context.

For example... You want to keep saying,"keep his commandments". Fine, i agree but why not list them? I actually think you know very well what Jesus was meaning. But i don't see tou actually admitting it.

And most of them explain themselves and actually make a point. Not something I'm seeing from you.
