The first Catholic thing that "saved" (re-saved?) me was the rosary. One day i started praying it, not believing it at all.. not even sure to this day why i did that.. was pretty deep in sin and chaos and etc..

had to have been God who got me to pray it b/c it changed my life, my heart, rather

and then that rosary led me to other things Catholic.. was raised Catholic but.. well, kinda not b/c my family.. we just went to Church on Sunday. The rest of the week... yikes.. No, we weren't big sinners (not at first anyway), but.. well, anyway

There are things i don't like about the Catholic Church but the part i don't like has to do with humans.. and you find those peculiar creatures in every church

Didn't Jesus condemn the practice of praying vain repetitious prayers "as the heathen do, thinking they shall be heard because of their much speaking"? God doesn't bless disobedience, so please ask Him sincerely if this practice pleases Him.

remember the parable of the widow who kept bugging the judge for justice? she went to him over and over until one day the judge gave her what she wanted just so she would stop bugging him (or worse)

then Jesus said "how much more will God answer his people" or soemthing to that effect

b/c these psgs seem to be in contradiction to one another.. well, just another reason we need a Church to interpret the Word of God, written and unwritten

people just muck things up

Sorry to say Catholics are not Christ Like or should I say Christians!
don't call me unChristian when u dont even know me.. presumptuous

you are not the judge of Catholics or anyone else. I dont find it "christian" to criticize people you don't even know, much less condemn them with one huge brush just b/c they dont subscribe to YOUR version of Christianity

It's best just to report those kind of comments as they are against the rules here at CB. In my opinion it's not even worth responding to those kind of comments.

it needs to be responded to because there may be young people reading and young peple are easily influenced.

It is diablical to attack other Christians just b/c of disagreements on doctrine, etc.. when all that time spent criticizing them could be spent on attack the real enemy: the devil and all humans who listen to him

The Importunate Woman parable does not depict the woman appearing before the judge and repeating the same request over and over and over, like in the case of the Rosary, but rather she continually comes to him over and over and over with the same request. There's nothing wrong with asking God for the same request each time we kneel in prayer. What Jesus is condemning is the practice of vainly repeating the SAME request or SAME words in the SAME prayer session - just like the heathen would do. Why would God bless a practice that He condemned when He lived and walked among us?

do you realize how utterly ridiculous this sounds???

believe what u want.. believe your own interpretaton. I will beleve the Church Christ founded.. The rosary is what made me a practicing Christian. Nothing else worked. Rosaries are used in exorcisms (and everyone needs one of those on a regular basis).

The rosary is the exact opposite of what you say here:

There is no request repeated over and over.. because

There is no request PERIOD. It is a focus on Jesus Christ, His life, His ministry, His suffering and death and Resurrection

And that's why we have rules against it and why you're supposed to report it and not deal with it in open forums. Two wrongs don't make a right.
There may be some young people here but there is enough of an influence by those that know the Bible to be able to deal with these type of issues, and when mods do their job and delete out certain comments those young people will see that this is not acceptable behavior.

i doubt i will get any valid response (in the negative, that is) about Post #8

because it cannot be disputed. Again, the rosary is what made me a practicing Christian.. brough me back to Christ, whom i had foolishly left (more/less) years b4..

When i am depressed, etc, i pray the rosary.. and the depression dissapears

Do you mean valid or acceptable? You may definitely get some valid ones but whether or not you accept them is another matter altogether. I used to grocery many times when I was a Catholic but it didn't make me a practicing Christian. Being saved and committing my life to Jesus and believing in his written word is what makes me a practicing Christian. You definitely aren't a practicing Christian if all you're doing is reciting prayers on a rosary. Especially when ten of those prayers are Hail Marys and we are not meant or allowed to pray to Mary. Jesus himself taught us how to pray not what we should pray. That how to is in the 'Our Father', so it's good that you read it and learn about what it says on how to pray, but the Bible does not teach as anywhere on what to pray.

FYI, what makes you a Christian is responding to God who draws you in your life. But once a person has confessed Jesus as their savior and receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, then that person can either respond to God in a positive way and grow in his relationship with Him, or not respond and not grow. The fact is though that God never gives up on us and as the Good Shepherd, Jesus is always looking out for us and bringing us out of danger. The fact that you have returned to a practicing faith is not because you use your rosary, but because God didn't give up on you, and drew you back to Him. As you are faithful to responding to the Holy Spirit, He will lead you into new and deeper ways.

Thanks OP for your testimony.

The anti-Catholic vitriol here is why I rarely post . Some folks claim Christianity but seem to lack the fruit of the Spirit, IMO. And I find this on both sides as there are devout Catholics with their holier than thou attitude towards protestants that bother me as well.

The rosary is gospel and reflection on Christ's life. It's the mother of God part that protestants cant stand to hear. I understand why as a former protestant, they are just playing it safe and do not want to offend the Lord with Marian devotion.

Thing is, we cant love the Blessed Mother anymore than Jesus did. She is a great Christian example for us and a enemy of Satan. Genesis 3:15 That much we can all likely agree on, I hope.

And according to one of the top exorcists in Rome, the blessed Mother is the most powerful intercessor of all.

Doesn't surprise me one bit as she is a enemy of Satan

I'm sure you are a devout Catholic and love Jesus with all your heart, but I am also sure that God has never sanctioned the teachings of Catholicism, because they are no where supported by Scripture. Catholicism's roots are found in paganism, not the birthplace of Christianity in ancient Palestine.

The rosary is found no where in the Bible. And, do you not repeat over and over the "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" prayers in which are repeated numerous times requests for "thy kingdom come...give us this and that" and "Mary, pray for us sinners..." ? This is the "vain repetition" that Jesus condemned, as I've shown you already (the latter being wholly blasphemous for no creature such as Mary can be an Intercessor when 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV is clear that Jesus ALONE is our Intercessor).

The Importunate Woman merely came day by day to the Judge to repeat her request, she did not stand there on one certain day asking over and over and over in the manner of "vain repetition" that is the rosary.

Please do not exalt feelings, experience, or the "word of the priest/Pope" above the Word of God, which is the foundation of Protestantism. Satan's deceptions are established by such things. Rather, believe the truth of God's Word and you will never go wrong, friend. May you submit yourself to Him and His Word alone, is my prayer friend.

Then it appears that you would rather believe the top Exorcist in Rome than what Paul states in 1st Timothy 2:5?

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus

This is exactly what I mean, those that are inculcated into the RCC doctrine are blind to what the bible really says. Stop listen to your organization and start reading and understanding the Bible.

All believers are enemies of Satan, however only to never died. Enoch and Elijah will eventually die but they were the only ones that lived a righteous and of life that God took them rather than let them die. That would not be the same thing for Mary now would it?

Enoch and Elijah will not die, for they have been translated, or given immortal bodies, friend. "Immortal" means "not subject to death".

While the Bible is silent on what future befell Mary, it is crystal clear that she was indeed a sinner in need of a Savior, because instead of proclaiming to Elizabeth "God YOUR Savior" in the Gospel of Luke, Mary condemns herself as a sinner by saying, "God MY Savior", in that she identifies herself with all others who are sinful and in need of a personal Savior, just as Paul says: "ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 KJV. The doctrine of "Immaculate Conception" and "Marian Assumption" are both non-existent in Scripture, and therefore should be abandoned.

I'll just ignore the petty insults as I know the bible very well. It's a catholic book, btw.

So you never ask anybody to pray for you then?

What a shame.

Here's a thought, maybe that verse doesn't mean what you think it means.

Here is a classic example of the problem with fundamentalism.

Did Jesus sin?

Do babies sin?

Do retarded people sin?

If I am about to fall into a nasty puddle of mud, then you swoop in and save me from it, you are my "savior" (so to speak), even though I never actually got dirty.

Now read Psalm 14 which is what Paul quotes in Romans 3. In particular pay attention to verse 1 and 4. Notice something there?

You don't know the Bible at all if you don't understand this. Are you a seminarian or priest? Do you only read The New American Bible? Do you think ignoring what I said in my post is supposed to show that you actually know the Bible? The RCC didn't even exist when the Bible was brought into existence.
I ask living people to pray for me not dead people and you're ignoring the issue. Typically you deflect and obfuscate in your usual sanctimonious way.
Here's a thought maybe you should actually make a point instead of trying to sound like you actually know something?
