well, we have all noticed that some who call themselves Christian are often further from it than the so called pagans

It seems that sometimes when one gets religion, his or her mind just shuts like a steel trap for some strange reason. Some christians act like.. well, that if a member of a Christian church other than his/her own says something, it is automatically to be dismissed, often derisively, for no "reason" other than the fact that person belongs to a different church! Now is that insane or not?

If Hitler quoted the Bible (no evidence he ever did, but..) does that mean we have to throw out that psg???

that's about how much sense this makes.

example: many people are downright hostile toward Catholicism. This is usually b/c they have listened to pastors who are virulently anti-Catholic. 9 times out of 10 said pastors have not investigated CAtholicism to speak of, yet they criticize and put down all things Catholic b/c soemthing about it doesn't "feel right"

this reminds me of a part of Ted Cruz's book, A Time for Truth, about when he was in law school and the teacher (I believe it was the famous Alan Derschewitz) got really IRATE when someone said RE some legal case: "well, i feel...[whatever]" The guy did not seem to want to hear about feelings as concerns law (to speak of).. and i totally agree

so anyway.. people go by their feelings when it comes to religion.. and it is really repulsive sometimes. A Catholic will say, for example, that the virgin Mary was always a virgin and give proof of that from the Bible, but the anti-catholic person will say t he most twisted, illogical things to dispute.. even the Bible! just because he is against Catholicism.. a religion he does not u/stand, but feels compelled to utterly and completely dismiss at every turn, logic be damned, truth be damned.

Now that is just downright foolish

obviously truth does not change depending on whom is speaking it

Actually I don't notice that at all until somebody actually opens their mouth and proves it. I have a small piece of advice for you, try being positive in your Ops and not so negative or derogatory. You'll probably get a lot more discussion.

I'm being myself. If that is seen as "negative" maybe the the person seeing things that way.. needs therapy or something. If speakng truth is "negative".. well, i will continue to be "negative" i reckon

I am a student of John Bunyan, who taught me to think in metaphors... When I look as a title such as, "what irritates the crud out of me a out 'Christians' so-called" I can't help but to think of...

THE problem is HBA, is that no matter where you go, cathollics tell the world we hate them, yet I know of no christian who does, than you give yourself a name like "hated by alll" and we all could see where that was going, As for me I was born and raised a catholic, so when I say I hate religion its from experience. As some have said, if you desire the truth, than go seek it, if you would rather the lie, well that is your own choosing. If one bothered to ask God, He would tell you that Religion is the Bane of His existence, keeps people in bondage and like the bible says,

Mat_23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

And that is exactly what it does.

Funny thing is when we get to heaven, you wont find, mormans, JW's, Christians, catholics, Jews, protestants or any other denominations, you will just find Gods children.

There's a big difference between hate and disagree... Catholicism is a religion with a lot of differences from Protestants, so it would be illogical to expect them to agree on much.. I grew-up Catholic but am now Protestant, simply because I believe Catholicism strays from what the bible teaches. I won't go into detail and list my objections, but suffice to say, I believe Catholicism is similar to Mormonism, in that both religions take a lot of liberties with the simple gospel, and both add things which aren't biblical. That doesn't mean there aren't good and honest people in both religions, nor does it mean I hate them, only that I have some serious fundamental differences with what they teach.

"hated by all" are the words of Jesus who prophesied that His people would be hated by all, the world, the flesh and the devil, and every human who follows those 3 "demons" which most people follow. He said that few make it.. and i know from experience why he said that.. people are evil to the core.

Religion per se has no power whatsoever to do anything to a person w/o his/her consent. It is so ridiculous to blame religion for.. for what? Soemthing didn't go right when u were in the Church? And somehow that is the WHOLE Church's fault??

you think things havent happend to me?? ha ha, keep thinking it. But i am not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

no, you are incorrect (saying the Catholic Church strays from the gospel). The problem is that you don't u/stand why the Church does this or that. I hv studied Catholicism more/less in depth, and find not one problem with it. As i have said many times b4, the problem is PEOPLE. There are just a lot of evil, cold, uncaring people in the Church (and who would know this better than i who have been Catholic more/less all my life?). There is a very good reason, for example, for why this or that is done during the Mass... It is not just mindless, meaningless ritual..

Catholicism is based in Judaism, except of course that we have Christ and they do not, and some of the Mosaic laws are no longer adhered to..

etc... etc..

So you come into a Christian Forum expected to be hated by all? I think the point that was being made was that you're setting yourself up to be a target. You're also doing it by your words because they are condemning people that are reading them. Approaching everything you do with hostility doesn't convey that you are a Christian at all, but just that you're judgemental. Take a little bit of friendly advice and tone it down because if you don't then the mods will for you.

what irritates me is that there are so many who call themselves Christian but who think it's OK to violate Christ's commandmnets, like (for example) love others as you love yourself. They justify it somehow, but there is no justification, and God knows this, of course. Why do people always think they can hide things from-- or justify things before God? Oh, it's probably because there is that once saved always saved lie from the pit of Hell, which essentially teaches that you can do/say whatever you want and still get into Heaven! You can disobey God and there are no consequences?? Yet they lie. Jesus said there are few who find the Way

And guess who the bible tells us about, Christ, and guess what He is .

I am teh way the truth and the life.

yet so few will go to Him so they can have life. Prefer the comfort of religion than a walk with Christ. Never convince you of the truth HBA you like so many are not intersted in it.

I'm tired of hearing about how evil religion is. That is so bogus. no belief system can make a person sin. It's as simple as that. If your pastor tells you to do something you know Jesus doesn't like, you can't blame it on the pastor if you do that evil.

i wish Christians would start attacking what is truly evil.. and forget about fake battles like this (OH, that horrible religion!!!) Please!

some see people going to church, and when it is a church they don't like, they say "OH! You people just like 'religion' not Jesus"

Really? How the heck would they KNOW what is in a person's heart?! That is just so judgmental and unChristian

Religion... Hmm. And, tell me, friend, what is Christ's religion? You toss the word religion around quite a bit in there. Is being a Christian a religion?

I have to agree, you did bounce around in your post. What exactly are you getting at? Are you angry at Christianity, or religion.. Two separate issues, bud.

God Bless,

BA

it's stupid to b angry at a religion.

humans--totally not stupid. They are all liars, save those who truly love Jesus (and of course we cannot even trust them not to tell "little white lies")

Curious. Do you think that there would have been crusades to retake Jerusalem if there were no "Christianity?" Do you suppose that the inquisitions would have been held for some other reason if there weren't a single approved religion in Europe? Or do you believe that these were righteous acts? I don't see such things taught by Christ, but perhaps you have some insight that I'm missing.
