I have some questions about praying. Even though I pray (but not as often as I should), I find it quite difficult. I always pray about the same things and the words don't come out smoothly, there's a lot of "um" "eh" and trying to think about something to say. I have no problems with the lords prayer but when I have to use my own words I get stuck and it feels more like I'm doing a job interview than praying. I like praying with other people when someone is praying and I repeat their words and I sometimes watch the Christian channel and pray with the preachers there.

Does the prayer have to come out perfectly or is it ok to get stuck and suddenly have to think about what to say? Can anyone give me advice on how to make praying easier.

Hi Too! Welcome to CyB.

Just imagine that you are talking with a very close friend. This friend knows everything about you so you can freely share anything on your mind or heart. You can tell your friend about your day, some concerns that you have about yourself, your family, other friends or someone who you have heard about that may need help. You can also ask him for help with things like financial needs or health issues....etc At the end of the conversation, just thank him for hearing your prayers because you know that he not only hears but makes a way where there is no way...according to his will [not ours] ^_^

PS ~ He knows what we need before we ask but he also likes us to ask...Matthew 6:8, 7:7, 21:22, Mark 11:24, Luke 11:11-13, John 14:13-14, John 15:16

Bless ya!

Thank you. I have to try to remember that God knows everything about me (both good and bad things) and that he's not judging me if my prayers get stuck.

God bless you.

bbnradio.org has a Family Altar at 1:15PM and 4:00 AM. It is a great place to begin a prayer life! Father I pray blessings on this request and help for the prayer life in Jesus name I pray. Also taking these needs before God in prayer on the 1:15PM bbnradio.org Family Altar program.

Hi Tooticki,

First off, I agree with Angelina 100%. I don't want to sound too simplistic but you'll see where I'm going with this. The books of Chronicles are, for all intents and purposes a history .....a very LONG history. There's a lot of "begats" in those books. But as you read First Chronicles, you may miss the following. You're reading a whole bunch of history citing names you can barely pronounce. Then right in the middle comes this verse: 1st Chronicles 4:10 -- "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, 'Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that your hand would be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!; So God granted him what he requested." The name, Jabez, means pain "Thee's and thou's" were for the Rabbis, the Pharisees, and Saducees but for us, it's just plain talk. Just like Angelina said. I usually add some thanks to Abba for having the patience with me, loving me unconditionally, and bestowing things upon me that I never would have imagined. There's a huge testimony from me in that last sentence. I died....twice...on March 14, 2015. Before they could get the paddles, God revived me. You better believe I thanked him PROFUSELY in my prayers. Look at the prayer of Jabez. Would you ask for things like that? Those were HUGE requests. I have this visual showing God nodding his head, smiling, and saying "OK. you got it."
