If your are refering to the Catholic mass, the answer is no. You can't receive the Eucharist (true body and blood of Christ) through your TV and that is the most important part of the mass.

Yeah but from a Christian perspective(I guess), after all, it's all about Christ, no?

Yes, but it's like eating a meal yourself vs. watching other people eat on TV. Catholics can actually receive Christ in the Eucharist - not just talk about Him, sing to Him and pray to Him. (all good things mind you - but receiving Him.. it doesn't get any better than that!)If I were homebound, and I couldn't get to mass, I'd watch it on TV - just like I pray at home, read my Bible at home etc. But I like actually going to mass. (plus there's the whole handshake part..

What is so different about a Christian mass? Just curious:D:)BTW, on tv they preach a sermon at the beginning of the sermon on EWTN, the church I attended waited till towards the end of mass.

Well, a Catholic mass IS a Christian mass - since it's all about Christ. Are you asking what's the difference between a Protestant church service and a Catholic Mass? (I've always heard the homily in the middle)

From the christain view you can celbrate it anywhere because we are saved by grace belief and repentance and it is symbolic of the body of Christ not literal as catholics teach there is no scripture to support making it the literal flesh of Christ Gods concerned with the state of your heart and taking this to honor him is all he is concerned with having to have a priest get between you and your God is anti biblical and God never tells us to do that

Oh brother. This again.Read John Chapter 6. Jesus says over & over again "my flesh is real food - my blood is real drink." Many of His disciples said that was teaching was "too hard" to believe so they walked away. And they are still walking today..

Also, read history. Every single Christian from the earliest disciples up through Martin Luther believed it was the actual body & blood of Christ - literally. It wasn't until fairly recently in Christian history that anyone even questioned that view. So I'm going with the same thing that's been taught for 2,000 years. Not something new made up by man that denys the words of Christ Himself.

It hasnt been taught your way only the catholic chuch teaches you have to have a priest turn it into flesh and blood not the aspostles nor anyone else have ever taught that. We teach it biblically it is symbolic a reminder to us that he gave his life for our sins it is to remind us it is Christ we love and worship Same as he is our bread or the living waters it is symbolic and anyone can honor his God without a priest.I know thats what you are taught in church Peacebewithyou but its not what bible says and your way is not the Christian way its the Catholic way and its isnt what was always taught its what your chuch has turned it intoand where do you get Mary walked away ????? What scripture is that??

John 6:50 "This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die."Speaking of Himself; This is the bread of life, of Christ that came down from heaven; and here we must separate the physical from the spiritual. The five loaves of barley bread was the physical, symbolic of the spiritual "bread of Life" which is Jesus Christ. Physical satisfaction came to all from the prayer and distribution of the barley bread, while Spiritual life [eternal life] comes when you take of the "bread of Life", Jesus Christ by faith, and obedience in repentance in Jesus name. From the time of your repentance, and belief in Jesus name, that eternal life comes into your soul. This offer is given to all mankind, and it is without distinction of race, or tongue. The only thing that matters is the belief in ones mind and heart in Jesus Christ, and the repentance of that soul.John 6:51 "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."In the Greek, My "flesh" would be better translated, My "self". Christ will give Himself for the life of all that will accept, in this earth age. This goes right back to John 3:16; "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." The "world" is the "cosmos" or "this flesh age" that all souls must come through in the flesh. To believe on Him, is to believe that a virgin actually conceived and bear the only begotten Son of God by the Spirit of the Living God. That would make God personified, or in person, in this begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He is giving Himself in the flesh. Remember it is God's way of showing that He cares for you, that you are somebody with Him. You are a person that has a purpose within His plan.this is completly symbolic of Jesus being our bread of life John 6:27 "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for the meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for Him hath God the Father sealedSame as here the meat is Gods Word it is symbolic it requires not priest to turn anything into real flesh and blood

Just kiddingthe eucharist better known as communion first happened at the last supper.20When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me." 22They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?" 23Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born." 25Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?" Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."[a] 26While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." 27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom.do this in remembrance of me."So as Christians we eat the body and blood of Christ in the form of bread and wine in remembrance of him. Protestants believe that the bread and wine symbolizes Jesus. We catholics believe that the bread and wine is actually Jesus. that is why it is so important for us catholics to go to mass for we believe we are actually receiving Christ.for more imformation ( and I mean a lot more) on our belief and the reasons behind it visit this linkhttp://www.christianityboard.com/eucharist-t5004.htmlyour brother in christRyan Fitz
