Someone is claiming that Time, the Universe and Life forms could have just been here all along - without a cause.
Even with the expansion of the Universe and being affected by Time, the person claims that a life form could have had enough power to cause the universe to expand.
I Know this is wrong, but I can't seem to grasp and explain how. Please help me.

Howdy.

You say it is impossible. How do you know if you have to ask for help?

Recognize that the person is just stating a speculation.

Even with the expansion of the Universe and being affected by Time, the person claims that a life form could have had enough power to cause the universe to expand.

Again, the phrase "could have" is part of the statement that is a speculation.

I Know this is wrong, but I can't seem to grasp and explain how. Please help me.

Relax. That person cannot prove that he is right. He can speculate all he wants, but you have the scripture to know Whom you believe in as He validated scripture that it is true.

1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Pray for that person that God the Father will reveal His Son to him or her so he or she can believe in Him. Trust the Lord to lead you to testify of the Good News to man when He provides the moment.

I expect the proper thing to do is grant your friend a measure of grace for it is possible that they can not help the condition they are in.
It is not by intellectual strength that we arrive at the knowledge of the truth but by the grace of God.
For the Christian it is absurd to suggest that there is no creator.
Where does life come from for if it was self perpetuating it would not fade.
If things just happen than why is it necessary for us to toil and labor?
If things just happened than progression would not be nessesary.
If things just happened then there would be no beginning and no end...

GINOLJC, the universe is ordered, and is governed by Laws. and before any of these laws or any law that is enacted they must be written and then put into play, or acrion.

and that cause is GOD himself. Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.....ect. and for expansion, Isaiah 44:24 "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself".

footnote: true time and space could exist before any object, but it's the objects, not object that we measure. because with one object time and space can exist but just not measurable.

Why bother trying to argue with anyone on anything. Show them Christ in your life with power. Then there is no argument. To many wasting there time debating on garbage that will amount to nothing. You think any arguments won will win people to Christ. Thats not what you are called to. You are called to go make deciples. You are called to lay down your life. How does any deabte represent laying down your life or picking up your cross and folloing Christ. I ahve been asking what folloing Christ looks like in a christinas life. Asa you one guy tried and go it so wrong. Stop the silly debates everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good".
some people need proof before they believe. John 20:28 & 29 "And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed".

How true, reading the book of Jonah, he gave them a word of KNOWLEDGE, from God who made the world, and they was saved, amen. and second, I have seen many people accept the Lord Jesus on what they saw, heard and did, that's not new. the bible give many example of that also, thanks.

Perhaps you could ask the person where that life form came from and how he just existed without a beginning? We understand that time has a beginning and so does the universe, even life itself including us...so who is this life form that he speaks of? o_O

If you walked into a room with a pool table and the balls were rolling around the table, bouncing off the bumpers and each other, could you possibly imagine that they were just "always" moving. Something/someone started the motion. So it is with all things that are in motion--planets, stars, galaxies. There must be an "unmoved mover". Some original force that started all the balls rolling. That's the first of the "Five Proofs" of St. Thomas Aquinas. Thomas was pretty smart. Check him out. Five Ways (Aquinas) - Wikipedia

That sounds like a proof from the first law of thermodynamics, the law of conservation of energy. Energy can only be changed but not created or destroyed.

Ironic that those who place their hope in science also hope they are wrong. If their science were true it means there must be a God. It is only by some yet unknown scientific knowledge that they hope to provide an alternative for God. Or what they would call proof he doesn't exist, though you can't prove a negative. If only Christians had this much faith.

in a stretched out /expanding Universe no life forms could have been here all along - the shrinking sun would have been larger and closer and the drifting moon closer - the result would be red hot embers and cinders and scalding steam = no life possible - twinc

You could point out there logical inconsistency.

They say the universe has always been here with no cause. Then the say that a life form could have caused the universe.
Which is it, an eternal universe or one caused by an unknown being?

Additional challenge. There is a finete amount of energy in the universe, if the universe has always existed that finete amount of energy would have been used up. That the universe is still here means the idea of an eternal universe is nonsence.

He's gone.
Some come here just to get us going.
But it's good practice, anyway!

There are plenty of reasons to believe that God is true. The bible in fact, is a written record, not of what people "believe" is true, but is rather a record of actual witnesses who have had personal contact with God down through the ages of all recorded history. The record is made up of witnesses who actually "know", rather than simply "believe." I "know" because I am one.

The universe and all that we know by living in the world, is just as the word of God says: It was "created." But with a greater understanding, it is actually an "image" or "manifestation" of what God has revealed to the world as His story: History is His story.

As a manifestation of what is on high, the idea of the universe expanding, is not incorrect, but correct even to enth degree "as numerous as the sand upon the seashore." However, time indeed has a beginning and also an end. So, yes, just as humanity went from one man to millions in a manner of unfolding and expanding, humanity and all the world will also pass away. All that remains is spirit, just as God is spirit. This is the word of God who created it for a finite purpose.

Well, this was short lived, she hasn't posted anything since June. To make a thread only to disappear shortly afterward seems like a waste of time. If the six day creation account has no cause, then where does that leave God? You don't need God if the universe and all life has no cause, because if it has no cause, then it has no creator, which henceforth means there is no God, and it seems like most don't even realize this. This is the only real conclusion one can get out of this, the implications are far reaching. It discredits the God of the Bible, and with that being the case, I might as well denounce my faith and worship Brahma, since there are certain sects within Hinduism that teach an eternal, cyclical, never ending universe without a real cause................. Perhaps she should have questioned this 'someone', this 'persons' religions affiliation that proposed this idea to her. Hot diggity damn, how convenient would it be for the secular, pantheistic, evolutionists if it were "proven" some day that the universe has no real cause. The very first words "In the beginning" from the Bible would no longer suffice, forever discredited in the eyes of the world as the mere ramblings of a Jesus freak..........
