I heard a radio talk show where a pastor was having people call in and say rather or not they went to church. He said " I do not believe some one can not go to church and be a christian. so everyone called in and gave their opinions . I went to church , better yet my family and I "lived" there. Iwas in a singing group on sun am. We (my husband and I ) led a bible study, once a week . We were there weds nights and I had a womens bible group on Monday nights. My husband would wake up early 4am once a week to go and pray with the brothers. We did alot. My church was full of people who earnestly loved and sought after God. As we all know peole are falliable .We became arrogant and God ripped the carpet from beneath our feet. The church fell apart. It became a place of backbiting and accusations . It litterally broke my heart. Serving in my church was my life . I loved it. Its been 5 years I have visited alot of churches . I cant find one that teaches the bible instead of opinions or that actually has praise and worship. I read theBible and share Christ every chance I get but I really miss the fellowship.Ido believe im a Christian (a follower of christ) but I know scripture says (do not give up meeting together) Its so hard to find people who have zeal for the Lord.

I believe the more zealous a christian gets the more he or she finds going to church harder and harder. The church is a corporation designed to bring in 10% of your gross income by means of guilt. In order to get you there they lie to you and tell you your love ones who do not know God will burn in eternal fire for all of eternety over and over again. So they take money by guilt, fear by fire, and then ask for extra money when they overspend or need to buy a seconed home in the mountains. The worst part most of their doctorines are wrong..I think home churches will take over like there doing in 3rd world countries and China.

I know what you mean, the churches are falling away from their true purpose, no longer are they places of worship. They have become buisnesses. Luckily we have places like this where true believers that earnestly seek god and want to know more about him and be around others with the same intentions!

I was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Florida in 2005. I can't find a church down here that I like as well as the northern churches. Everything about them is different and not what I'm used to--especially the music, and I've always been in the music ministry. Most of the Baptist churches in Florida sing songs I've never heard and don't sing the old-time hymns that I know and love. I'm getting very discouraged and considering giving up on churches. I know of a home Bible study that meets Sunday afternoons, and I'm considering just going to that. However, one short time of fellowship with other Christians per week isn't enough for me. I'm used to a lot more, and I LOVE to sing. God blessed me with a talent I HAVE to use for Him. So, I guess I will just have to settle for the best I can find here and try to be satisfied with that.

God says church is where two or more gather in my name that could be anywhereit could be in your house on the phone with a friend studing his word with your spouse even talking here or other web sites if you are there to study his word you are in church so to speak Each person has to decide how much fellewship they need to do this that is the real question do you need a whole congegation to keep you in his Word? Do you study better in your home with spouse or friends?

May God supply all your needs :pray4:, we go through valleys, dry times, but I pray that you find a place where you feel fullfilled. God loves to answer your prayers and you are hungry for God and absolutely He wants you to be able to use your musical gift. May the desires of your heart be answered in Jesus name ! Amen

I am the church, and so are other true believers. The bible encourages the people of God to assemble. Unfortunately, what one calls the church these days became institutionalized with worldly mannerisms adopted into it. So, my suggestion is to find like-minded folks and get together with them to study the word, exhort, reprove, and all those other nice bible words.

I really believe we shouldn't go to church at all. One is likely to believe just about anything what the preachers is saying if one is a very new Christian. I'm not the one that wants to believe in confusions.JagLovest thou in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour of the world.

Assembling and Fellowship in a sanctuary over the Sanctuary(Our Bodies), is ok. I would never, this IMHO, tell a person never to assemble themselves. I would highly encourage them though, before Service to Ask The Father in the NAME of his Son Yeshua HaMashiach, to give me true revelation from his Spirit and not what the Pastor/Preacher says. With that said, the best revelations came when I was gathered with men and women and after sermons I would read my bible and try to apply what was told with the Scriptures. Just like eating chicken or fish, I take in the Meat and Dump the Bones, a type of taking in the True word, and dumping the inapplicable dogmas.Matthew 23:37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not Bold Emphasis mine, God would love to gather his children together. Oh what a sight it is to our Lord YESHUA HAMASHIACH to have his children worship him, praise him, Glorify his name for the Glory of God.Hebrews 10:25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.I don't care where you go, If two or more are gathered in the Name of Yeshua HaMashiach and many are willing to invite him to their hearts HE WILL BE THERE. But this is solely based on Opinion, and I respect that. But I love fellowship in Physical Sanctuary, because within that building you are Worshiping in Spirit within the True Sanctuary, Your Body, which is Yeshua HaMashaich's Temple.

I completley agree with unorthoox christian on this darren. The bible encourages getting together.Jesus plainly says it " when two or three get together in my name I am among them.We are all one body with spiritual gifts to share.( 1 corinthians 12)and since we are part of this body we are to comfort one another (I Thessalonians 4:18), build up one another (I Thessalonians 5:11), confess our sins to one another (James 5:16), pray for one another (James 5:16), and many more. How can we obey these directives if we stay away from the gathering of believers?Hebrew 10:25 says it all " Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."I( a catholic) have one more reason to go to church. It is where I recieve the eucharist. The blood and body of Christ. your brother in christRyan Fitz

We are supposed to confess our faults to each other, not to confess our sins with each other as we can not forgive one another since it is our human nature. It is only by the power of Holy Spirit that can forgive sins.JagLovest thou in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour of the world.

15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of you.I think those verses answer your objection.

(James 5:16) The bold part is have to do with two or more people gather in His name. However is it not what we are doing on this forum?JagLovest thou in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour of the world.

It depends on what the meaning of "church" is. If it means a building that has the word church in it somewhere and a group of people who call themselves Christians go and hear someone talk about the Bible and God, then no, not necessarily. If, however, you mean a place where two or more Christians gather together, talk about the Bible, worship and praise, and help each other grow in their faith and form a community, then I say yes, most definitely. The concept of the "church" building is a business understanding. Someone mentioned above that the Christian basis for a church is where two or more people gather together, learn about God, and praise Him. This is what church is about, not about the business structure so many of us are now familiar with.
