There is so much bad information about Catholicism in your post that I am starting to see BreadofLife’s reasoning regarding anticatholicism....almost. I tend to think it is more due to anti-intellectualism, which is definitely a problem in Western culture right now
I just meant that it started with the first organized religion and has spread to every other religion which has sprung up from that ever since.....I think there is a big difference between IN CHRIST and IN an institution set up by men.
I am not anti catholic, I am anti religion

I think it is easy to blame organized religion/schools/medicine for being....well, organized, but they are preferable to unorganized movements, or cults; which are at huge risk for heresy and tribalism and radical individualism.

Judaism and Christianity would have never grown without becoming organized religions.

You're right...In the world and of the flesh that would not have been possible....But WITH God nothing is impossible...

Why does it have to be one or the other? Praying OR reading the Bible? attending church OR having a relationship with Jesus? Asking Jesus OR practicing sacraments/following doctrine?

It sounds similar to ‘getting a formal education’ OR actually learning something in the real world.....

False dichotomies may sound enticing, but they appeal to emotion, not fact
What have you got against both ? I read the bible a lot

I have nothing against both, Pia - that’s my point. It seems as if you do. You seem to believe that your private relationship with Jesus carries more authority than the Bible, the church, doctrines, sacraments or any other agreed upon religious activity or idea. This is a dangerous practice because it is rife with temptation towards pride, radical individualism and heresy

If anyone wishes to learn about the Great Apostasy, look up the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14.

Now it's your turn to study it!

I am coming to the place where I don't believe anything that people tell us is 'history' it seems to have all been rewritten.
Correct BG, a re-writing of history. The apostle Paul said it best. read the very first chapter of the book of Romans, especially verses 19-32. then the apostle states the the obvious in 2 Thessalonians 2:7 "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way". this mystery was already at work in the apostle day. we have today, many records. but my question, why the records written now don't match up with the word of God? not all, but most. case in point, no reflection on any one personally, but the ROMAN Catholics from their writing today exclude women from leadership roles in the church of God. and not only ROMAN Catholics, but many other denominations and major religions of the world do the same. when clearly in Romans chapter 16 the first bishop in Rome was a woman. this is why the book was written and carried by our sister Phebe to establish, or organize the church at Rome. why was this not understood, or known by the early church writers, who wrote to churches after the demise of the original apostles. and why the harsh treatment of women in some churches

peace in Christ Jesus.

GINOLJC, to all. @pia, you're correct. these brute beasts as the apostle Peter says, and our brother Jude said the same thing. Jude 1:4 "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ". he calls them filthy dreamers, spots in your feasts of charity. clouds they are without water, Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars. murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. WHY? Jude 1:19 "These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit".

peace in Christ Jesus.

Sounds like a distortion of Catholicism - not sure why you have to make comments like this - they are not helpful

A myth commonly held by members of 19th century post-Reformation movements like the Latter Day Saints, JWs, Adventists, Armstronism. The Great Apostacy is the belief that Christ's true church disappeared from Earth shortly after Christ's resurrection and was re-establish with a prophet associated with the start of a specific movement.

Despite the fact that there is no historical evidence for this claim, it still persists today and has crept into Comservative Prostestant doctrine. If you believe the Great Apostacy occurred, please provide evidence.
Is this the same as preterism?

ha well that is in the Book, you gotta admit

Nah. I just do not have unreal expectations for church; I do not have to, i am a Catholic. Protestants and Evangelicals do have to oppose church because they define who they are in relationship to the catholic church. The irony of course, is their bafflement over losing church membership, when they consistently preach against church!

Church is a reflection of the heart. Yet, Protestants/Evangelicals/home churches attempt to ‘fix’ perceived Catholic error by replacing every combination of catholic sacraments/doctrine with their own combination; fixing church with church.

The real solution is not to ‘repeal and replace’ - or try and recreate an ideal of church from the past; it is to love/empathise/serve imperfect people, imperfectly. It doesn’t look pretty and sometimes it looks organized/mechanical/even, ‘dead’, but it is all we can do in this existence and we must continue to love through our imperfection. I believe the Catholic Church is doing a fine job of it, at this time in history.

Wow, that's certainly written in a way no one should have been able to misunderstand........Well that really does seem to point to organized religions over the centuries, as surely this would not have been written about actual believers ?
Do you think anyone can become saved receive the Holy Spirit and then go on to create a system (which goes on to this day) where the ones 'in charge' end up doing unspeakable things themselves and even at times getting their supporters to do likewise?...I can think of a few good examples, and I want to make it clear, just in case, I am not just referring to the catholic church.
Thanks for writing that, I couldn't find the reference the other day.....God bless :)

GINOLJC, you hit the nail on it's head. NO, no way is God the author of confusion. there are so many religions in the world, and many denominations within them, and (everyone says that they are right, see the lie). not counting cults who accountability is to no one, but the one, or one's in charge. as the Lord Jesus said, "search the scriptures", and if you do, you'll find him. not that he don't know where you are, it's you just don't know where you are, and that's dangerous. but the benefit, people get tried of lies. and when that happens, they search for the TRUTH, and that's a GOOD thing. my advice, seek he while he can be found.

peace in Christ Jesus.
