i can never plant enough squash.
wow really? that is the one thing i have found so hard to give away that i no longer even plant it, just trade for it, hmm.

i'm a permaculturist, don't typically do too much gardening, which kind of translates into "fennel patches," iow planting fennel where it will seed and regrow, which fennel being "hardy" is lots of places, i guess. If it won't flower/seed, it's in the wrong place iow, and i have a lime tree in Flint, MI lol, putting out limes every year. We do have to baby-sit it in the winter tho

Hope its okay to bump this thread? I am ordering my seeds and cannot wait for this growing season! I will be growing fennel and summer squash/pattypan among other things. Fennel is also great because you get the frizzy herb part, the seed, the bulb and also you can candy the stalks and/or use them as straws.

This Spring I will be planting just a small area behind our apartment. The complex has a larger area that people share, but I may leave that one alone this year. The small area I am planting will be in strawberries. If it is successful, we will not be disappointed. We may put tomatoes in a couple of planters near our small flower garden. I cannot work in it like I once did, but working in the garden time is also good prayer time.

I also have a hard time working outside.
We have an acre on a lake and it requires a bit of work.
Clearing dead stuff etc.
But two years ago I thought "The Heck with it" and now I find all the wild stuff coming up actually pretty nice.
So, I gave the Honda Lawnmower away and a bunch of other garden tools.
We'r on a south slope, house at the water's edge, shop on top of the property.
So when I go there I ride my quad.
We don't grow veggies, 3/4 of the place is juniper forest.
Lots of deer, foxes, bears, etc.

We had a little place several years ago out in the country with a little less than ½ an acre. I loved it and I loved working on it, but it was 15 miles out of town... too far for emergencies. My wife's chronically severe uncontrolled asthma and my own particular heart troubles required us to move into town. I was disappointed but I have learned to be content with what God has given and allowed us to have. So now it is this little apartment where if I cannot work outside at all for whatever the reason, it is OK. Someone else will keep it all under control.

Give God the glory!

We'r two hours away from our family doctor.
The last time I had heart trouble I spend 3.5 hours in an ambulance till we got to a hospital where they could deal with the issue.
They zapped me 7 times before they put in a pace maker.
It's a miracle I'm alive.
Had bypasses done earlier.

Give God the glory! He is not finished with you yet. I will keep you in my prayers.

My heart problem is simpler but not fixed. The natural pace maker in my body doesn't work right not sending the right signals to my heart to slow down or speed up as needed. Sometimes my heart simply slows down too much. When it slows too much of course eventually I would pass out. They put a pacemaker in me in 2004. It doesn't stop the episodes from occurring, but it does prevent the heart from slowing down too much when it wants to beat at a dangerously slow pace.

When it happens which is from every couple of days to once or twice a month, I break into a cold sweat over my upper body sometimes soaking my shirt, become very weak, somewhat faint, and I get the shakes with tingling fingers. They usually last 30 to 45 minutes. I simply sit down and wait it out. They have a special name for the problem but I always forget it. If remembering the name helped maybe I would. LOL

The doctors admittedly cannot fix the problem. My first cardiologist was worthless telling me it was not a heart problem and that I needed to go to some other specialist. [He still advertises regularly on TV soliciting new patients. I would not give him a favorable recommendation.] I went to several other specialists and each one referred me back to the cardiologist. My present doctor, my third cardiologist, is by far the best, but he is honest in saying that he cannot fix the problem even though it is within his specialty. He replaced the pace maker battery for me in 2012 so I'm good for a few more years. LOL. I'm already 74 so maybe I will make 80.

Give God the glory!

Your problems sound familiar to me.
My heart slowed down too several times and I passed out.....
My doctor told me it's caused by a leaking valve.
He said I might need a valve replacement in the future.

I'm taking 5 different pills morning and night.

Can be frightening can't it ? We take the beats of our hearts and our ability to breathe as totally for granted, so when it suddenly makes itself known in a different way...Well ? it's a bit scary :D

Wow you are describing the exact same thing that happens to me, but mine happens when my heart is doing over 200 bpm and at times completely out of rhythm so it can feel as though I have four hearts, beating independently of one another...have seen more 'specialists' than I can recall, and not even once in hospital could they do what was needed, so after that I just let my Father know, that I would have to completely leave it in His hands. I stopped taking the blood thinners and each time it happens now ( which can be often or with a break in between) I just tell Jesus that I am ready if He is, otherwise I will stay till He tells me otherwise........I am not suggesting here that everyone should do this, but as you always say :" Give all the glory to God", and I do endevour to do just that .....Hope it goes well for you with the new battery...:)

I have the opposite problem with mine...it speeds up , thumps, and skips beats....then goes very fast.
It too makes me weak and floppy. Back in October I had it for three weeks without a break. I had to spend most of that time on the couch.

I'm on four different pills daily.

It is comforting in a way, to know that many of us fight the same disabilities...
( the same enemy of our soul) but, we are fighters...and we are winners! Yay! :)

Well we all are still here. Ultimately we are still here because God still requires us to be for His reasons. We need to stay close to Him and follow always His lead we'll not go wrong in spite of our physical shortcomings or difficulties.

They have checked my heart itself many times but still say the heart muscle is fine. It can do what it is supposed to do, but it needs to receive the right orders at the right time. The artificial pace maker seems to be handling that. Give God the glory!

Yes, this is the most important thing... to leave it really in His hands trusting Him always to keep us where He wants us to be. Each time it seems that a physical ailment of mine is about to depress me, my wife has a worse problem and I have to forget mine and help her with hers. Is this also a one purpose of a "helpmeet"?

Give God the glory, indeed!

Just keep on trusting in Him Helen. He will see you through until your time here is really finished.
