Hey guys,I have an interesting subject to debate.I John 3:9Whosoever is born of God doth not sin; for His (Jesus) seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.Now this raises a guestion, I know that I'm born of God, but I also know that I sin!Taking this into perspective we are a spirit that lives in a fleshly body, and we have a soul our intelect and emotions. Is it possible for our spirit man to sin?I say no!Because when you where born again, you became a new creature in Christ Jesus!II Corth. 5:17What do you say?

Did you want everyone's view? Mine is Catholic, which is not likely to agree with yours or many others here, so if you are not interested that is fine with me.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent mehas eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."John 5:24 (ESV)"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law."1 Corinthians 15:56 (ESV)"We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him."1 John 5:18 (ESV)"For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."Hebrews 8:12 (ESV)

Whew! Yes. A good question. I'm just going to throw out a few thoughts based on what I know about scripture. Positionally speaking, we are no longer sinners. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, and therefore God made us positionally sinless. Now, back to earth. Yes we do sin. Man is a whole being body, spirit and soul, and thus we will die (and graveyards prove this) because of sin. Like John said, if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. Therefore, all "3" die.So how do we get around this apparent contradiction? The old man dies. He perishes because of sin and death. But God will raise him again. Actually, both believers and unbelievers will be resurrected according to John 5. However, the believers will be resurrected to life eternal. Thru the work (and identification) with Christ, we will be raised again as if we are like Him.I think the answer is not so much looking at our present state, which will end in death, as the end result, but God sees the end (sinless) result because of the later resurrection to life eternal. The bible calls this sealed with His Spirit until the Day of Redemption. And that's what he sees as sinless.

Sure!I was born and raised Catholic, was an alter boy and attended catholic school for 4Years.So Yes I want your opinion!
Ok, then it should be no surprise that my answer would be we do sin, and God cannot abide any sin in us, not one. Sin, any sin is a rejection of God. When you reject a person, they are offended and you would need to do something to restore that relationship. The degree to which they are offended relates to the offense and what one would need to do to restore that relationship. So any sin in our lives requires continual "rebirth", a renewal of our spirit, restoring our vertical alignment with God. Catholics believe this is done through a continuous, lifetime process of Reconciliation with God. And if this is not done before we die with regards to any serious sin, we risk eternal damnation. No need to defend or attack this positions folks. Am not defending it here or attacking any other view. The OP simply asked what is my view.

Hm,I really would like to know more of this post as well, more of the christian veiw though,as myself does not know the whole answer but here is what I "think"I believe that our sin,I mean it is part of us,our body which belongs to God right? So really when we are reborn we still have the same soul, but God renews it to complete goodness right? I am not sure,I will ask my pastor tomorrow night for more informatioN!!!

What about the fact that Jesus told the theif on the cross that today, you will be with me in paradise! Also Jesus told a story about a rich man that died and the poor man that died.So obviously our spirit man goes some where when we die, either heaven or hell!

Good view point, but please take a closer look at:I John3:9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His (Jesus) seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.Another scripture that is important to look at is:John14:23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him,and we will come unto him, and make out abode with him.Now in this scripture he's talking about the Holy Ghost. But God and Jesus cannot live in an unclean vessel. It say's in this scripture that they will come to live in us.where will they come to live? In our spirit man, because our spirit man has become a new creature.Because of the blood of Jesus.

I think Psalm 51 might be worth another read for all of this on the subject. The short answer is that for a true Christian all sins are forgiven, and are gone. That comes with the continual references to white found in Revelation.John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The focus is on the soul, the body is just temporary and will return to the Earth that it came from upon our death (Ecc. 12).I Corinthians 15:50
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
That certainly doesn't absolve us from sin, as Christians we strive not to sin, but we have our faults and they will be forgiven when repented of as was established by Christ. David spoke of this in Psalm 51 - the same David that was an adulterer, murderer, and so on.I Samuel 13:14
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
That man was David.
