Matthew 27:50 "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many

Now, this. Revelation 20:1-5 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection”.

Is the events in Matthews 27:52 & 53 is the first resurrection. looking for some sure scriptures to affirm or deny the connection.

Yes :)
(But no scripture reference.. lol)
Because 'it is given unto man once to die..'.
I have always believed that they are first...while the rest who did not make that calling and election ( the foolish virgins) slept.
Just my two cents :)

thanks for the response. I have always lean toward that way of thinking. but after reading several articles, which haven't changed my mind by the way, have raised some questions. as for the virgins consider this. David body was still in the Grave, for the apostle Peter said, Acts 2:29 "Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day”. ok 50/50 here. But interesting. did not David received the promise, and was he not a Prophet of God?. so it makes one think was David one of the 5 virgins who was foolish, "I'm only speaking this based on what you said about the virgins". that's my two cent here.

again thanks for the response.

True indeed...but just because his body and bones were, did not mean 'he' was..he was free of his body and not in his sepulchre any more.

For some reason I think that David may have been one who came out of the graves and walked around when Jesus was resurrected!
I have always wondered too, why Joseph insisted that Israel take his bones with them...did he too for see the resurrection and wanted to be there 'in body' wen Jesus resurrected and "many came out of the graves"..
One would think that something as big as that would make a bigger impact in Jerusalem ..but it doesn't seem to make a very big splash in the 'news'!
So many mysteries... :)
