"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine..."

Are people being drawn to the wrong light??

2 Corinthians 11:14-15
[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

1 John 2:15-17
[15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

the lust of the flesh
the lust of the eyes
the pride of life...is wanting more out of this world. The light of the world is not our call to sparkle and glisten and glamour and shine with worldly appeal. What is light? what does light do? Light reveals. Light illuminates. Light is an illuminating light that discloses everything. In the light... deeds are made known. In the light they see truth and are ashamed of those deeds done in darkness. We are called to be a light set on a hill. The LORD came in the flesh and set His light on a hill for all to see. John 1:5 [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The truth is...this world is fading away.
The truth is; we are called to love this world less.

John 5:35-36
[35] He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. [36] But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

A burning and shining light...how did John burn? With more of the world?

We are also called to be a shining light.

Satan draws with a deceiving light that casts darkness, promising more of this world, not less. Satan calls out to the desires of the flesh and what the flesh already wants. Giving the flesh what it already wants which is more. Satan promises more: lust of the flesh
lust of the eyes, and pride of life. What did Satan tempt Jesus with? Take away Satan's power over the fear of death; as with Paul there is no longer a fear of losing this world because the perspective is...it is passing away. Then Satan loses his appeal and hold. It is not give me a bigger home, a swimming pool and fancy cars. Give me fame and stardom. That is Satan's message and it is a seriously false message drawing people toward the WRONG light.

What does Christ's light accomplish?

Luke 12:2-4
[2] For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. [3] Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. [4] And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

Luke 11:33-36
[33] No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

The light dispels darkness. We are that light in the world now.

[34] The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. [35] Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. [36] If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

We walk not in darkness but in light.

Luke 1:78-79
[78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, [79] To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Luke 2:27-35
[27] And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, [28] Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, [29] Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: [30] For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, [31] Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; [32] A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. [33] And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. [34] And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; [35] (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Ephesians 5:12-14
[12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. [13] But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. (AGAIN: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light) [14] Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

In the face of God(His countenance): there is light.
In heaven, there are no shadows.
In heaven, nothing is hidden.
In heaven, nothing is done in secret.
It is all brought into the light.
The light dispels what is in darkness.

Genesis 1:15 "And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so."

Judges 13:6 KJV
[6] Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God(Light), very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was , neither told he me his name:

Why was the light of his countenance terrible?
Because light reveals truth.

Romans 3:20 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

(John 3) "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." ....worked in God.

Revelation 1:16-18
[16] And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. [17] And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Do not be deceived and be drawn to the wrong light. Do not be drawn to the light that entangles a person with the affections and desires of more of this world. Matthew 10:38-39 [38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. [39] He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Be a burning light in the darkness...
This world is fading away.

pls take this in the spirit intended ok, but get your fill of that light, fly as close to the sun as you dare, stick your finger in the fire lol, and see what happens. Imo this is why God is a better parent than most parents

note how those lights are always in valleys though, not on hills, right; they become illuminated behind the whispering hand, or require passwords or handshakes to enter; no one is proudly proclaiming them from hilltops. well, not for long anyway

I am not sure I follow:oops:

The light on the hill is Christ. He came to give us truth. Yes, His light is usually seen in the valley.

...this light it seems the world reveres and it rises to the top of the empire...the dung heap. BUt He lifts us up out of the dung heap, doesn't He? And all will be brought low and put under His feet.

Be a burning light in the darkness...
This world is fading away.
This is good. But there are some clarifications that should now be understood:
  • Christ was that light that came into the world.
  • It was Israel (not Christians) that were set as a light upon a hill...a light "unto" the gentile Christians, not by the gentile Christians.
  • Christians, having lost their lives after coming to Him, take up Christ...but it is Christ who then shines in them (it is no longer them who live, but Christ who lives in them).
  • The great commission is not to "be" light, but to point to the Light, whom is Christ. By this, we know who is of Christ, and who is a demon.
It is important to understand that Christ was the Last of the chosen (Israel). That since Christ, these are the times of the gentiles, many of whom will hear the good news of Christ and come to salvation in Him. But the born again Christian is no longer themselves, but it is Christ living in them: meaning that during these times, there is only gentiles, and there is Christ (come in the flesh). And if we are in Christ, it is not we who shine, but Him who lives in us.

I have so many questions:

For starters, I want to see what you see. I am not saying you are wrong or right. I am admitting I don't know.

You say the resurrection is past? How so? 2 Timothy 2:18 KJV
[18] Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

How does Romans 2:28-29 Fit in the time of the Gentiles?
[28] For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: [29] But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Are we in: Revelation 11:2 KJV
[2] But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

I am curious: What do you look for as the next fulfillment, if everything is past? What is still...future?

Not pasted as you have stated, but rather that all things "were" before the foundation of the world, and this is the manifest revelation of what "is" outside the realm of time, in God. But as for the resurrection, it comes to "each in his own order" (each in his own time). Therefore, if we speak of Christ, it is [all] finished. But it we speak of "today", then what is finish for one may not be finished for another. For example: If twelve stood in a line in the order of first born of the spirit of God, on the world timeline we would see all twelve each standing beside the others, each representing their time in "order." But to see the whole matter from God's timeless perspective as they all are in Christ, in whom all things are "finished", we would have to come around to the side of the line and view them as one man, each behind the other, "each in his own order." But this does not put what Paul said against what Jesus said ("It is finished" vs. "Each in his own order" and "the resurrection is [not] past already"), but rather Paul explains as I have explained, that it is finished...but each in his own order, according to their time, which is only finished as it is revealed. Therefore, if one has lived and died, "it is finished." But if one has just been born, and "today" is not "that day" (spoken of all throughout the scriptures), but if instead tomorrow is "that day", then it is not "finished", except in Christ, wherein all things were finished before the foundation of the world and the revelation thereof.
Paul lived and preached on the cusp and transitional time between the times of the first Adam and those of the Last Adam: the times of the flesh, and those of the spirit...which are the "times" of "a time, times, and half a time." He spoke to both groups, which are "the dead in Christ", and "the living in Christ." As such, Romans 2:28-29, is a translation of the parable that was first manifest in the flesh, that would then come to be in the spirit as people are born again of the spirit of God by the Holy Spirit sent by Christ, which is the outpouring of the spirit "upon all flesh" by God during these times (of the gentiles). He was acting on the fact that "It is finished" for the "times" of the first Adam. Which is to say: these are the "times" of the spirit.
Are we in: Revelation 11:2 KJV
[2] But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Yes.
I am curious: What do you look for as the next fulfillment, if everything is past? What is still...future?
"It is an evil generation that looks for a sign." Nonetheless, so that the scripture should be fulfilled: "where the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together", those who seek the flesh will perceive the things of prophecy, saying "look here" in the city and in the desert, where the Lord is not. But I will tell you the truth: At the cross the hourglass of the "times" was simply turned over to run the other way until the end. As the Lord said, the times shall be like those of Noah.

Yes, Christ was sent to, and spoke to the house of Israel (the light of the world). He was cleaning house, and equipping His disciples to be a more true light unto the gentiles.
well, when i read the Beatitudes, i get a different "we" from that; but then i am the House of Israel, so maybe that is the diff there. Not sure how you can hold this pov and simultaneously hold the other one that we are talking about...somewhere else, right now? Seems like a direct contradiction to me
Fundamental belief

I just answered the Fundamental post. But let me know if the two still are clear.

As for you being of the house of Israel...that is not what Christ referred to, but rather to the old covenant, which you are not under. So, linage is one thing, but covenant is another: the one is of the flesh, and the other is of the spirit. These are the times of God pouring out His spirit upon all flesh - meaning, that there no longer remains a covenant for the the flesh, except "once to die."

Sorry, I am not following the "i" and "you."
you have separated the Israelites by covenant, when i am assured that i am grafted in.
So imo a fundamental diff in perspective, i guess.
We are the ppl being judged in the OT, iow, at least in a very real sense.
We live under the law, right now, the most "saved" guy in here, see.

Well, I am kinda tracking with you...I guess.

But, part of the problem is walking both sides of the line, i.e., we could say what we are is what we are, or we could say what we were and are or are to come is different. So, yes, being grafted in makes one an Israelite. Nonetheless, that is not the order of how it came to be. According to the scriptures it is "first to the Jew, and then to the gentile." But in the end there is neither.

I think we got it. :)

ScottA, off topic here but would value an input as to why ... free are included in Revelation 19:18?

Revelation 19:16-18 KJV
[16] And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS . [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; [18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

The "free" may be described in two ways: as both those free in the world (meaning Israel), and those free in God. The one is flesh, and the other spirit. But the flesh profits nothing, and was only for an example of the greater truth in spirit.

These are the times of the gentiles, the time when God pours out His spirit upon all flesh...meaning, the times of the flesh are passed and therefore none in the flesh are free, but only in the spirit. In the spirit, those who are born again of the spirit of God have died to the flesh and live unto God. It is no longer them who live but Christ who lives in them. It is their witness that fulfills the prophecy, that "Christ has come in the flesh", meaning their flesh, His body. These are the free of these times, whose flesh is sacrificed with Christ in the supper of the great God, the devouring (passing) of all flesh.

And these are supportive scripture to what we see in the times of the Gentiles??

Isaiah 66:17-19 KJV
[17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord . [18] For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. [19] And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

Ezekiel 39:17-21 KJV
[17] And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God ; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. [18] Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. [19] And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. [20] Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God . [21] And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

Well, no, those refer to Israel leading up to and including the coming of Messiah (among the nations).

Well, no, those refer to Israel leading up to and including the coming of Messiah (among the nations).

Then I am totally confused. It seems to be God saying what He is going to do. Everything in OT seems to be pointing to Jesus Christ coming (God in the flesh) and then Gods plan to take the gospel to those without the gate (without the city). Thank you for taking the time to answer though. I will keep reading and praying. It doesn't matter if I am right or wrong...I just need to know He is here with me in the struggles. If I can't hear Him, or if I am hearing me only, then there is no relationship.
