How do you know if God is calling you? Is it the feeling that you want to do something for God? Does it mean he is simply calling us to live for him everyday and be open to whatever that is? Or does it come at a time after you are born again? Is it one of those things where you will just know and you really can't explain it?

I can explain it as the Holy Spirit pushing you to do something. Just trust in God.

My two cents, try to spend as much time in the Holy Spirit as possible. Because of that, you'll be less tempted to sin. Praise God for everything. You'll start wanting to read the Bible, and you'll feel affectionate and concerned for other people (mainly unbelievers). And you'll feel different. That's how you know you're truly saved.

I know I am saved but I just don't understand this God's call stuff. Jesus called me to follow him when I became a Christain and I feel at peace and feel very thankful for Gods love. But is Gods "call" somthing else than these things? Like is it one day God will tell me I am to do *insert here* and this will be my purpose? Or have I allready recieved God's call by following Him and showing love to my neigbour? Sometimes it is hard to tell if it is the Holy Spirit telling me somthing or myself or even Satan.

Natchitoches, La
Micky,When I got my calling to preach, I was on a millitary bus in Frankfurt Germany, waiting there actually guarding the bus because we where at the train station getting supplies. No one else was on the bus, but suddenly I just began pacing the isle just preaching to know one! When you get the calling on your life you just can't shake it off. No matter what else you try to do occupationally wise, you are just not happy because all you want to do is work for the kingdom of God. You can run from it. The word tells us that the gifts and calling of God are with out repentance. God will never stop calling you to do his work.We are all called to the job of reconcilling people back to God.But the word tells us in Ephesians that there are 5 Gifts that Jesus gave to the Church.Apostle,Prophet,Evangelist,Pastor, and Teacher. Those 5 Gifts are called to equip the body of Christ to do the work of the ministry.Hope this helps!I've been called since 1985.It has it's plus' and minus!!

I have no personal experience of God's calling, but I have often asked this of various missionaries and they all answered that it is a clear, unmistakeable drawing to a certain task, or in a certain direction, which is undeniable. This is almost always accompanied by the opening of various "doors" showing the way forward and simultaneously confirming the pull is from God.Often "coincidental" confirmation comes from other sources, too, or the pull confirms itself by bringing back to mind, or linking up with, an earlier situation prophecying the same direction. I don't if this helps or just confuses the topic!!

Hey when God called me to be a priest There was no way for me to ignore it.You see I didn't want to be one, In fact I still am unsure I want to be one, but it is what God wants me to be.How do I know, because two years ago at the age of 13 I wanted to do many things. Like play guitar, but everytime I imagined playing a guitar I was a priest. I wanted to skateboard. But everytime I imagined it Id be wearing a white collar. When I had to do a speech in school , when I imagined myself reciting it I was giving a homily to the parish. It was clear that it was from God because I couldn't stop thinking about becoming a priest even when I wanted to. And these visions of priests went on and on and on and on and on until I broke down and criedOKAY GOD I GET IT, I AM YOUR PRIEST!!!!!the visions stopped immediantly. So in other words you will knoe when Gods calling you. Its hard to missyour brother in christRyan Fitz

Right now I am learning my dads trade, renovations. One day I want to do something crazy for God, you know! Sometimes I think why not today? One thing I can see myself doing is building churches and homes for people.

I can't say for anybody else, but I know what I'm called to do, I just know that I know that I know.

'For we walk by faith, not by sight.'So if you feel God called you to do something, and you want to do it, then just do it. But if you don't feel like doing it, then just don't do it. No double-mindedness.

To me it has to do with what motivates and drives the individual. What in spiritual terms do you enjoy doing. What are you good at etc. In the gift He Himself is, He expresses who He is through the person called in a certain area of ministry. Also Romans 12:6-8 speaks of what some call the grace giftings as distinguished from the Doma giftings of Ephesians 4:11. For example, believers teach in many ways and often use scripture, but that doesn't mean they are God called Eph. 4 teachers.

But if God is calling you to do something, shouldn't you do it even if you don't feel like doing it or are scared of doing it? Whatever God has planned for me is better than whatever I could think of. Like God giving you a chance to trust in Him and put your faith in action.

I see what you mean. The gift of helping stands out for me. I always like to help people with things. And when I help people I always think of how I'm doing it for Jesus. So maybe that could be my "calling".

Difficult question..David Livingstone was so burningly keen to get to Africa he could hardly wait to be ordained in Britain. "Ordination is unimportant to me" he said.Obviously he felt it was a very strong calling..Yet some people definitely DIDN'T want to be called -Moses tried to make excuses -"O Lord, I have never been eloquent, i'm slow of speech and tongue." (Exodus 4:10) And Jonah was so scared he jumped on a ship to escape, bad call - "Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish." (Jonah 1:3) And young Jeremiah tried to talk his way out - "Lord i'm no good at speaking, i'm too young and people won't take me seriously" (Jer 1:6)I know some churchgoing christians who live their lives according to what they feel God is "saying to them" and their lives are a complete disaster (debts, worries, depression etc)That's why I said it's a difficult question, do we listen to our own heart and commonsense, or do we do what we think God wants us to do, and how do we know Satan isn't in on the act trying to lead us up the garden path?I suppose the only thing we can do is make a decision and hope it's the one God wants..

Yes I think of all the people in the OT where God tells them to do something. So now I'm stuck between God's call being a specific point in your life or when you become a Christian and use your gift of the Spirit. I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as you live for the Kingdom whatever happens will work out. No point it worrying about it so much.
I suppose the only thing we can do is make a decision and hope it's the one God wants..

Lots of praying and fasting would help!

I RESPECT YOUR DOCTRINE OF BELIEF,SO YOU SHOULD MINE ?How can you respect a doctrine of belief that is a destructive force, destroying men, women, nations and souls! One church believes and teaches one thing, another church another doctrine, another church another,so on and on.Churches today have formed thier very own doctrine of " We interpreted it differently".This is destroying us and worst of all, seperating us from God Almighty. Jesus Christ says in Matthew 12:25 "Every kingdom divided againest itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided againest itself shall not stand. The Word of God is so very important, that He spoke the heaven and earth, the sun and moon, the plants and animals, you and me into existence. The Lord and God doesn't need anyone to interpret His word differently than what He says. The Word of the Lord Jesus Christ says in 2nd Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpertation."I know most people want truth in their life.Again the Word of God states in Romans 3:4 "Let God be true and everyman a liar." It is very important to Godthat we hear His Word of salvation for our souls. One day we are going to die,it is the day that is nsure for each of us,Hebrews 9:27"And as it is appointed unto manonce to die,but after this the judgement." Jesus Christ the Son of God came into this world to speak not His Word, but the Word of God. Jesus Christ knew He was going to suffer a brutal painful death. He came for this reason,St.John 10:10"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.God gave the best and only way for man to escape hell,St John 3:16"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."This is the Gift from God Almighty Himself, and the Word of God asks in Hebrews 2:3"How shall we escape,if we neglect so great salvation."God is so good that He gives you and I the choice,Heaven or hell,,it is just a breath away.I myself and I know of others who have found that true peace and joy by asking Jesus Christ into our hearts andto forgive us of our sins. Oh what joy of sins forgiven! The Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 11:28"Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavyladen, and I willgive you rest." (You do not have to ask for that rest, but you do have to die,you do not have to go to Heaven, but you will stand at the judgement bar of God!)The Lord Jesus Christ wants to give you that perfect peace and a sound mind.A joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, the knowledge of being forgiven for every wrong you thought, said or did.Romans 3:23 says"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"Come now, taste of the Lord and see He is good and it all starts at the foot of the oldrugged cross,by just praying in the privacy of wherever you are and asking the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart as yourpersonal Savior,so please say this prayer unto the Lord,My Lord and My God,have mercy upon my soul a sinner.I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God.I believe that He died upon the cross and shed His innocent Blood for the forgiveness of all my sins,I believe that God raised Jesus Christ up from the dead by the power of the Holy Ghost.I open up the door of my heart and I invite you into my heart,Lord Jesus. Wash all my sins away in the precious Blood that you shed for me.You will not turn me awayLord Jesus;you will save my soul,I know because your Word says so.Your Word says that you turn no one awayand that includes me.Therefore I know that you have heard me,and I know that you have answered me,and I know that I am saved, and I thank you Lord Jesus Christ for saving my soul. Now raise your hands toward heaven and begin praising and thanking the Lord for your Salvation, continue on and on.Now that you are saved, the Lord has another gift for you,it is called, the Baptism of the Holy Ghost which you need to read about in the book of Acts.Feel free to call or write,Les Wood,(904) 797-4147249 Marius ct. Thank you Les Wood for that post, I agree with what you say! We are to read the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, this is how we understand the Bible and God grants us wisdom and understanding. And I know and believe that Jesus died for my sins and I am totally helpless with out Him. Living your life completely for Jesus is the only life with any meaning at all! But we can't know all of Gods wisdom at once. We must grow in wisdom of Jesus. 2 Peter 3:18 So when I ask a question like, "What is Gods call?" I am interested in what other Christians already know about it. Gods call is something I'm confused about and I can't see any clear definition in the Bible. But someone else may know! Christians are suppose to edify and help each other learn. 1 Thessalonians 5:11. This does not mean we take a mans word as truth. The Bible is the final authority.

It can be both, some have a feeling that there is a calling on their life before they become a Christian, but don't know how to go about it. Then other Christians are called into a Ministry after they are saved. Whichever way it is God will make it very clear to you, what He is calling you to do.
