Why are experienced, respected evangelists of some years standing only called "Novice Evangelist' or 'Aspiring Evangelist' etc underneath their names in this forum? The danger of that is that a newcomer here might skip over somebody's posts if they think he's just an inexperienced beginner, even though he's not.Or they might still read his post but not pay much attention to it, and go looking for somebody who's labelled 'experienced' or whatever..Even worse, somebody seeking spiritual help and guidance might surf into this forum, see that it contains a lot of apparent novices, and go join another forum instead, or just give up looking for help.In fact, for an experienced evangelist to be labelled a 'Novice' is (strictly speaking) 'false witness', and I bet Satan is chuckling..

its based on number of posts nothing else And how would classify someone any way is it years Not always is it age, No, one might be expert in Revelation and know little about GenesisI have people on here that little bible knowledge besides a basic few scripture yet heve so much wisdom from God We have seen so called experts that are really only experts in their religion and have little Bible knowledge

What bothers me more than that is what I see on the nonbelievers forum. Ex. By those who don't even profess to believe in Christianity or God, I sometimes see, aspiring or experienced. I guess it would be too difficult to change, but it really shouldn't be labeled this way. I wonder if it would be possible to do that one forum differently, Denver? Just a suggestion.

I definetly agree HisbyGrace. I didn't realize yet what this meant and did look at these titles with curiosity. I agree...perhaps changing from labels like these to something else that points to apparently what they are supposed to mean...While I like the idea of seeing Experienced or Novice...for what it might tell you, apparently it's not telling us what it says it is. Good idea. kim

An evangelist is a Doma gifting out of Eph. 4. As saints we are all to minister to the world at large. The gift is not the man, nor is the man the gift he ministers. Timothy operated as a pastor in Ephesus. Paul when instructing Timothy (his ministry son) said in ll Tim. 4:5 to do the work of an evangelist. In 4:2 he said to reprove, rebuke and exort. Lost people don't respond well to rebuke. Poeple on the way if taught correctly will respond, knowing that He chastens those He loves Heb. 12:6. An experienced evangelist is called to the Church to do just that, reprove, rebuke and exort. But men love titles, position, recognition etc. Jesus is THE apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. Every good and PERFECT GIFT is from above. Those who stand in an office as men are merely agents of the Kingdom.

Absolutely. I don't care if anything is under my name. It doesn't matter to me what "level" I am put at, but I do want to be identified as "Christian". Hopefully that's clear by my message. "Pride goes before a fall."Proverbs 16:18

Another way of looking at it is this - suppose you had a medical ailment of some kind that you wanted feedback on, so you went to a medical forum, posted your question and then looked at the replies. You'd naturally not attach as much weight to those from from "junior doctors" or "medical students" as you would from "surgeons" and "consultants" would you?At the risk of sounding vain I'm going to say I don't like being labelled an "Aspiring Evangelist" in this forum for the simple reason that that tag will put people off and they'll look elsewhere for an "Experienced Evangelist" to help them instead.I've been an evangelist for 10 years, my articles are all over the internet and get rave reviews, so I'm hardly an 'Aspiring Evangelist' at all..

Yes, since we can't see each other face to face and we don't even know some people's real names, I guess you have a good point. Jesus didn't need to be called Dr. J. People saw for themselves and the word traveled fast!!!

Another example - a few years ago I joined a PC-strategy game club and began posting about tactics etc. Then somebody said "Er...who are you? What right do you have to dictate tactics to us?"So I replied - "I'm a strategy game champion and i've got a silver trophy on my desk to prove it"..After that they began listening to me..

I was actually quite embarrassed when I saw the title since I would not want to be considered as any kind of evangelist (yet!). I do not even claim to be a proper Christian. I am just a Christian "wannabe" that somehow has never made it yet. I hate to think that anyone would actually take anything I might write here as "qualified". I am here to learn and maybe one day actually find a token of faith. I am no kind of evangelist - not even a newbie!

Moved to the proper area, in the future please put these kind of threads in the feedback section. Thanks.I've never really seen the titles as that much of an issue. I expect that people that come here will have some amount of understanding as to how a forum operates and particularly in respect to things such as user titles. Hence the reason I used Evangelist which I see is a relatively neutral term. We'll consider the titles if its that much of an issue, but I have to say this in one of the first times this issue has been raised.

I am sorry but these quotes hold little water.... I would rather have a "junior doctor" who knew his medical books, payed close attention and was more interested in helping me than a "brain surgeon" who never really paid attention in medical school, cares more about his title than anything else.....As for a silver medal- who cares? WHO CARES? We are all working towards crowns- that will we lay down at the feet of God- I don't even care about a crown. If God wants to give me one- which I don't deserve for He deserves all and everything precious- I want to give it right back and more, I want to give myself!Being an "evangelist" for 10 years, 20 or 40 doesn't mean anything if what is being talked about doesn't follow scripture. What's important is the message and that God is heard, not the fact that something has gotten "rave" reviews. These reviews are from men- who cares what they think if it's anything other than lifting up all others work and all of theirs to our Glorious Father???????God shows us wisdom so we can share it with others and grow in our walks with Him. He doesn't show us wisdom so we can write nice articles and impress the folks back home. (Exodus 15:11 KJV) "Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?"As for the titles, others will know how far along our walks are with the Lord, by refering our posts back to scripture, by paying attention to what is said, by asking the Lord His opinion- if someone is pushed away by a mere title, are they really seeking anything other than a reason to walk away?(Psalms 16:5-7 KJV) "The LORD [is] the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant [places]; yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons."(Hebrews 13:15 KJV) "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name." (Daniel 2:20-23 KJV) " Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what [is] in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast [now] made known unto us the king's matter."This post is not meant as an "HAHA I showed you." Nothing I said should be taken as proof of authority over anyone else, nor should it be taken to reveal that I am better than any of my brothers or sisters in Christ, or that somehow I know more than them which elevates my status. To God be all of the Glory. To God be all of our Praise. Let us lift up holy hands and praise Him!
