Psalms 93:1
KJV 1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Thomson 1 For the day preceding the Sabbath, when the World was stocked with inhabitants. The praise of an Ode by David. The Lord hath commenced his reign; hath robed himself with majesty. The Lord hath robed himself with power and girded it on. For he hath established the World, which cannot be shaken.

These are my thoughts.
Praise Him, He is worthy to reign.

'The LORD reigneth,
He is clothed with majesty;
the LORD is clothed with strength,
wherewith He hath girded Himself:
the world also is stablished,
that it cannot be moved.

(Psa.93:1)

Hello Clark,

That is encouraging to see, isn't it? In this day and age, with talk of global warming and it's effects, and in the midst of natural disasters, geological changes and war situations around the globe, with all that attends it, in the form of famine and desease: -

'The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved'
.

It is so easy to get caught up in the rhetoric of news reports, instead of keeping in mind the truth of God's Word and living in the light of it, in joyful praise. For His will, will indeed be done, and all that He has promised, and prophesied, will come to pass, for He is faithful that promised.

Praise His Holy Name!

Hello again,

This psalm begins and ends with the attributes of Jehovah, 'The Lord Reigneth', 'He is clothed with majesty', 'the Lord is clothed with strength', this is what we must stay our minds upon, isn't it? The strength He has is of His own girding, He has no need of anything outside of Himself.

Psalms 93:2
KJV 2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
Thomson 2 From that time thy throne was prepared: thou thyself art from everlasting.

These are my thoughts.

(Psa 93:2)

Hi Clark,

Blessed assurance! Praise God!

The marginal notes in my Bible tell me that there are three Psalms which commence with the words, 'The Lord reigneth', and they each end with the thought of 'holiness', (Psa. 93, 97 & 99) indicating that when He reigns, 'all will be holy' (Zechariah 14:20-21).

'In that day
shall there be upon the bells of the horses,
HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD;
and the pots in the LORD'S house
shall be like the bowls before the altar.
Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah
shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts:
and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them,
and seethe therein:
and in that day there shall be no more
the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.'

* In a throw-away society like ours, when everything appears to be of a moments duration, it is lovely to read these words, isn't it?
'Thy throne is established (firmly fixed) of old', 'Thou art from everlasting'. The word everlasting being the vanishing point, the place beyond which our minds cannot travel.

* See Revelation 4. and the cry of the living creatures (the Zoa) which represent the whole of creation before God's throne:-

'And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him;
and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night,
saying, 'Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,

which was, and is, and is to come.'
And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks
to Him that sat on the throne, Who liveth for ever and ever,'

(Rev 4:8-9)

Praise His Holy Name!

Thank you.

Chris

Psalms 93:3
KJV 3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
Thomson 3 The rivers, Lord, lifted up; the rivers lifted up their voices.

These are my thoughts.
It is amazing how the ocean moves; it shows God’s great power. He commands the waves.

Yes, Clark,

The working of God's creation is a constant source of wonderment and delight, isn't it? but also of awe, at the power manifested by it. The words, 'the floods' generally apply to rivers (such as the Nile or the Euphrates) rather than to seas.

The repetition of the words, 'the floods' is intended to give emphasis and added weight to the statement being made. This verse needs the verse which follows to complete it and bring it's relevance to light.

Psalms 93:4

KJV 4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Thomson 4 By reason of the roaring of many waters; the mountainous billows of the sea are wonderful. The Lord on high is wonderful;

These are my thoughts.

God is mightier then anything this world has.

Hi Clark,

* I read something today, from Luke 21, which made me think of this verse:-

'And there shall be signs in the sun,
.. and in the moon, and in the stars;
.... and upon earth distress of nations,
with perplexity; the waves and the sea roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear,
...... and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.'
........ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

.......... And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.'
(verses 27-28)

* Praise God! The Lord on high is indeed mightier than these things!

Psalms 93:5

KJV 5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

Thomson 5 thy testimonies are firmly established. Holiness becometh thy house, Lord; to the utmost extent of days.

These are my thoughts.

God’s word remains true always, we should always live by His Word.

'Thy testimonies are very sure:
holiness becometh thine house,
O LORD, for ever.'

(Psalm 93:5)

'The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.'

(Psa 19:7)

Hi Clark,

His testimonies are indeed SURE! (
Praise God!) They make us wise unto salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15)

This Psalm commences with the words, 'The Lord Reigneth': one of three Psalms which do so (see, Psalms 93, 97 & 99), they all also end with the thought of 'holiness'. When He (Christ) reigns all will be holy.

'In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses,
HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD;
and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.
Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah
shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts:
and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein:
and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.'

(Zec 14:20,21)

* Which explains the words of the Zoa (creatures) in Revelation 4:8, because His judgments prepare the way for His reign.

'And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him;
and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night, saying,
"Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."

(Rev 4:8)

Thank you,
In Christ Jesus
Chris
