Today"s Churches' Becoming little more than Social Clubs in these Last Days!!
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3
When was the last you went to church and heard a warning about the all to real eternal Hell? Eternal hell for those that reject Jesus as Lord and Savior?? Or when were you told that the rapture of believers looking for the return of Jesus could be any day now??

Last Sunday.

Actually all that was touched on. My Church also preaches about grace too. It talks of the importance of truth, the importance of sound doctrine, the Bible, how corrupt society it, how wonderful Jesus is... The full menu.

I understand your anger at churches though. Church should be a social gathering butnot for the sake of gathering to socialize. The purpose of a Church is to gather as a body to praise Jesus, worship him, and learn of him. It is also an opportunity to communicate with him that teaches the Word. In other words, to be a giver.

Preachers need to preach the whole Bible, not just the stuff that tickles the ears.
Absolutely! And they need to enforce it. While Paul preached the truth to the Galatians and Corinthians, he also threatened to bewail them and not spare the rod. He wasn't one to say, " now this is the truth and you can do whatever you want with it".

Good point.

Just yesterday I saw a post on this forum which condemned preaching about a hell filled with fire and brim stone.

I will always kick-back when I hear christians rubbing their hand 'almost with glee' when they talk about Hell, and so easily say how many will be going there...

I don't read much on this Site or any Site about how many hours any of us stayed up and night and lost sleep while praying FOR those who are so easily and flippantly declared to be going there!!

Maybe when those kind of things ( prayer) are the norm among Christians for the unbelievers ...then maybe I for one won't fight so hard or post when I read constant flippant condemnation of people to hell.

If you were on the road to eternal hell would you want someone to LOVE YOU enough to warn you and help you to believe accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior OR JUST IGNORE YOU!!!

Trust you to start ranting again.... I did mention that we don't speak to them. As usual you twist my words.
Love has legs...and those legs also bend the knee and intercede for them.
How about you? How much sleep have you lost in prayer?

I was speaking about the unfeeling way that people judge the unbeliever but they never talk or post about praying for them.

LOVE the lost sinner enough to warn them and help them to believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and join the eternal family of God. Why just sit back and watch and say nothing??

Why just answer the same thing?

I asked YOU...How much do you pray for them?
Talking comes cheap...it cost you nothing!

As you have in two post sidestepped my question about prayer...I can only guess at your answer.
Very sad...but expected.

Wow, it didn't take long for this thread to go the wrong way......

I can only assume you are talking about the church or fellow believers you hang around with.

Because nobody in our Christian circles of friends has that attitude.

Revelations 21:8 .....
King James Version (KJV)
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

(And I'm certainly not rubbing my hands when I posted this.)

Love the lost enough to warn them about the all to REAL HELL==Jesus does!!!

Matthew 8:11-12, "Many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 13:41-42, "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 13:49-50, "So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Yes, hell is truly a place of torment.

don't you see that even here, were social buttery edict is seen as the way of Christianity, and justification to condemn another? you are correct, the us and them social groups redefining things like love to be what and about what they love, and insisting that is what God love's and what God's love is. hence making idols in their hearts of what they think God ought to be. making idols in their own image and their own likeness.

nope
man has condemned himself to hell, God never condemned man. God's Judgement is Life and man goes by his own judgement. so should we be sympathetic? sure we could have been easily as the condemned without the Lord's intervention. all you can do is be available to them when they want to know. and it is not our responsibility to make them want. we're not selling furniture here. its not our job to appease the wicked or the unthankful, nor are we to be what they think a Christian ought to be. a casher will maintain a pleasant social disposition to keep her job, because in her own judgement that is what is good, what's that got to do with Christianity?

but we are to be wise enough to know that the Lord our God has Mercy on the wicked and the unthankful. so if the wicked and the unthankful seek the Mercy of God, then one should accommodate, but we are also to understand God draws them and just like Jesus says no one comes to Him unless the Father draw him, so keep the Light on, and the Lord knows how to do the rest.

so facing reality isn't wringing of the hands for the demise of others. but if you are not going to be glad when the wicked don't dominate the face of the earth any more, then what's up with that?

because the case for mercy is for the repentant, not the wicked.

@DPMartin I agree I don't want the wicked to dominate the earth...that would be foolish. And I can obviously see what you are saying in your post.
It is the harsh and flippant way that 'some' talk about "going to hell" that gets to me.
I do not believe it is quite so "ho-hum' with God...He loved so much that our Great Creator actually became our Saviour. I do not see that reflected in the hearts of some Christians. I hear no travail in their condemnation.
That is all I am trying to say here.

Thank you for your response.

Preachers need to preach the whole Bible, not just the stuff that tickles the ears.

Especially the gospel of Jesus, the one who gave us new life through his death and resurrection, that we too may die to sin and be born again into Jesus, through his blood, through his grace and righteousness, and that too means it's not a license to sin or support sin, because we are dead to sin being a Christian, but it means God's forgiveness is there whenever we need it, and we are made righteous through Christ and he gave us eternal life, to ever believes in him, through his blood too and resurrection, he died on the cross for our everyday lives, his mercies are new every day, and there is power in his blood, great awesome power, the power to heal, the power to resurrect, the power to forgive, the power to receive, the power to be fresh, the power to prophesy, the power to speak in tongues, made available for every single Jew and Gentile, for those who will believe and receive, because the blood is a living blood, and when he resurrected and ascended, he gave his Holy Spirit freely to live in anyone who will believe and receive it, and that again is life, Jesus is life, the Father is life, the Holy Spirit is life, there's so much meaning in the death and resurrection of Jesus, yet the message of the gospel is so simple. And that is what needs to be preached, the blood of Jesus, the Living Word, the Power of Jesus, the Power of the Holy Spirit, the Power of the Father, the Bible was the Living Word, still is the Living Word and will forever be the Living Word, by the blood and resurrection of Jesus, and even before that it was the Living Word, because God spoke, and what did he speak LIFE, he knew prophecy before it was given, he had a plan and it was fulfilled, it is fulfilled and is being fulfilled somewhere around the world every single day.

So Amen. Glory be to Jesus, the most powerful name on the earth. :)

Ever wonder why Jesus talked and warned about eternal hell more than any other whose words are recorded in the Bible?? Should we not follow His example and warn the lost??

Because he loved us so much, that he doesn't want any human to end up in hell. And yes we should, but it should be done underneath the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the message could be spread a lot better, if it were done that way more.
