Isaiah 6:11
[11] Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

Certainly everyone hears something different in "the land be utterly desolate", for me it speaks of Hebrews 1:13 "But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?"

A common thread throughout the Word of God is that man's work and man serving himself and idols other than the true living God, will cease. That man will know God and serve the one true and living God as opposed to all man's little gods. There is a severity in all man's self-righteous glory being burned up by the breath of God. Until ALL has been brought low and desolate before God. Satan's power cut off. All works of the flesh and glorying in the flesh...is not going anywhere. It serves no purpose and hinders the person from seeking a God that does hear, and does see, and does heal. God has made certain everything comes through God and BY God only.

God has done it.
God has finished it.

John 19:29-30
[29] Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. [30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

"It is finished"
Finished is finished.
Done is done.
There is only one "Way".

Revelation 16:17
[17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

Revelation 21:5-6
[5] And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. [6] And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Psalm 109:26-28
[26] Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy mercy: [27] That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, Lord , hast done it. [28] Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.

Supportive scripture if you are interested:

Daniel 5:21-26
[21] And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. [22] And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; [23] But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know:

and the God in whose hand thy breath is , and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

[24] Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. [25] And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN . [26] This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE ; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Man's kingdoms are all brought to nought before a Holy God. "till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will."

Isaiah 44:23-25
[23] Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it : shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel. [24] Thus saith the Lord , thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things ; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; [25] That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

Matthew 6:10
[10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Psalm 72:18-20
[18] Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. [19] And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

Isaiah 6:2-13 KJV
[2] Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. [3] And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. [4] And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. [5] Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. [6] Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: [7] And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. [8] Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. [9] And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. [10] Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. [11] Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, [12] And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. [13] But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

GINOLJC, to all. First this is a Good topic. second, to understand what is finish, one must know what is finish. is it a covenant that is finish?, or an end to certain civil laws?, or, as in one of your scriptures in Daniel, it was a kingdom rule that was finished. but whatever comes to an end, or is finish must be understood in the context of the scriptures given. and sometime it's not just clear in scriptures by reading them, (it is written). this is not the case all the time, ok. but one must let the Holy Spirit lead and teach you in what he have said in the scriptures that he "WILL DO". example, Zechariah 3:9 "For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day". this is in direct reference to the John 19:30 as to something being finished. "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost". well in one day, God did "FINISHED" the rule of "SIN" over man. what was "finished", SIN in the land. this is called "performed by God"

by the Holy Spirit, must research out a words and view it from another angle. example, the word "FINISH" in John 19:30 is the Greek word,
G5055 τελέω teleo (te-le'-ō) v.
1. to end.
2. to complete.
3. to finish.
4. (figuratively) to fully pay (i.e. to discharge or complete an obligation or transaction).
[from G5056]
KJV: accomplish, make an end, expire, fill up, finish, go over, pay, perform

see how the kjv can translate this word, "perform".

now,
Isaiah 10:12 "Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks". this is not concering the ACTUAL king of Assyria, but is symbolic of putting an END to sin, and what is to come afterward, judgments and rewards. we can clearly see this in this verse from Isaiah 35:4. "Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you". in order to save us, he first must remove sin from us. see how we can come to the same conclusion from a different angle. this way we can be sure what is FINISHED.

conclusion, find out what the Lord is putting an end to.

Agree Zechariah 3:9 is profound.
[9] For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

There is inexhaustible depth to all that IS and has been finished by our LORD. Yes: Isaiah 53:5 [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

An end to sin. But also an end to man's attempts to save himself.

Philippians 2:11
[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Agreed, man could never save himself that's why the perfect one the Lord Jesus came, scripture, Romans 8:19 & 20 "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 "For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope".

one must let the Holy Spirit lead and teach you in what he have said in the scriptures that he "WILL DO". example, Zechariah 3:9 "For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day".

Isaiah 66:7-11
[7] Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. [8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. [9] Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord : shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb ? saith thy God. [10] Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: [11] That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

Isn't that backwards? Delivered...brought forth before travail or pain?

This is a difficult topic to discuss as the relevant timeframes are difficult to perceive.

Zec 3:9 is speaking of the GWTR judgement time because at that time/in that day all of the iniquities and unrighteous people of the earth will be dispatched into the Lake of Fire. Hades, the waiting place, for all mankind and all the wicked heavenly hosts, for God's time of Judgement will be dispatched into the Lake of Fire. The second death/"sin causing death" will be dispatched into the Lake of Fire. Then it is finished concerning the cleansing of the earth. After that the renewing process can begin and the Land/Earth healed and made ready for the Glory of the Lord to live among the people who were judged righteous and entered into their inheritance to live forever in His presences worshiping God, our Father, as His "sons"/"daughters".

When Christ sounds the final alarm and the Saints assemble to form Christ temple of which Christ is the corner stone, then and only then will it all be finished and right order established.

Shalom

This is a difficult topic to discuss as the relevant timeframes are difficult to perceive.
they are hidden from the wise, so that they can assume what they like, and be revealed in their assumptions.
One can read history, or a concept that applies to them personally in their life today, imo
Zec 3:9 is speaking of the GWTR judgement time because at that time/in that day all of the iniquities and unrighteous people of the earth will be dispatched into the Lake of Fire.
only now today has been turned into tomorrow, see
Then it is finished concerning the cleansing of the earth.
it is finished now tho, not tomorrow, wadr
When Christ sounds the final alarm and the Saints assemble to form Christ temple of which Christ is the corner stone, then and only then will it all be finished and right order established.
so you say, but i'd like to sound a different alarm here, no offense meant.
It is finished is perfect tense, not future tense, i'm pretty sure.
Any images anyone has painted for us about tomorrow are vain imaginings
the right order is established when one leaves the world, imo

Wasn't it "redemption" that was finished?

Romans 3:24
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

ha so then if Jesus died for me, then i don't have to do any of that pesky "die daily" stuff at all right, if that's what "it is finished" means
