Jack Van Impe says the Holy Spirit has told him that he is God's final prophet

Well, prophets are good but the Bible says the law and the prophets were until John. Paul said that he was happy the apostles were picked last.

John (the Revelator), Paul, Peter and of course Jesus gave prophecy. But John the Baptist was the last (and greatest) prophet.

I am not a follower of what Jack preaches. Not pro or con, simply I haven't followed him. I don't know what his preaching says. But if he is claimimg he's the last prophet then it apoears his time has past.

Not saying that he's right or wrong, but this sounds like Elijah 1 Kings 19:9 "And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here,

Elijah?1 Kings 19:10 "And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away".

1 Kings 19:17 "And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

1 Kings 19:18 "Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

conclusion: Romans 11:2 "God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

Romans 11:3 "Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

Romans 11:4 "But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

Romans 11:5 "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace".

Jack in the early 80's preach hell fire and brimstone sermons on TV and those sermons planted seeds inside me as I was saved not long after that.
I saw him at a convention for end timers in St Pete back in the early nineties.
I told him how his preaching helped me get saved.
I don't know if he really cared or not.
He said he lost 4 million giving aware free literature back in those days.
And he paid it back in months after switching over to end times.
Give the people what they want, not what they need.

I used to watch Jack Van Impe and his wife. This was probably a decade ago but I loved their doomsday preaching. Something about focusing on the end of the world and ONLY the end made me feel alive and less dead inside. Who are we to welcome the death of 2 1/2 billion? To be excited over it? Do you hear it "doomsday"! The slaughter of billions. Are we waiting anxiously for it?

I also used to love a good horror movie. Blood and gore. There is something about fear and doom and gloom that makes our heart rush as if there is something there. Adrenaline is a drug. Yet, if we were that person hunted, isolated and alone, stabbed and left bleeding...that rush would become something totally different, instead there would be a real cry going up to God from our mouth begging for mercy.

I think our expectations for all the doomsday events is more ends justifying the means morality than a show of empathy. Unless we enjoy providing field hospital type work in a losing battle....we are shortsighted in our longing for the end.

I was raised in a mainline Presbyterian church so I really wasn’t taught to expect anything but Christ’s return.

I totally agree with you that our role is to cry out for mercy throughout all judgement. We are being sanctified for love - it is why we were created

........*sigh*......Self professed "oracles" like Jack Van Impe are a shining example of whats wrong with the so called "body of Christ". Its reputation has been damaged because of these buffoons. I well and truly wish these sleazebags would disappear into a black hole, never to return or open their mouths on what they "prophesied" to occur ever again.

He should not believe every spirit but test them. The Holy Spirit would not prop any servant of His up like that as "God's final prophet".

John 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Indeed, because so many people speak well of him, he should beware Jesus's own words.

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

I would listen to someone that puts the spotlight on Jesus Christ rather than on himself or herself as a latter day prophet.

John 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

He is our brother, though. Pray for him that Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd may correct Him by the word through the Holy Spirit in him or raise someone else close to him to correct him by the scripture in testing the spirits.
