Did Jesus baptize with the Holy Spirit?

How was the thief baptized with the Holy Spirit if Jesus did not send him until after he died?

The only time I see Jesus Baptizing is in John 4:1-2 Where it says that Jesus Baptized his disciples. It does not say with the Holy Spirit. I thought his disciples were baptized by John. They were baptized by the Holy Spirit on the day of pentecost. This is going to get very interesting!

It doesnt say when it only proves that upon belief and repentance you are baptusted by the Holy spirit of God that water is preferable but not required as it was not the water that brought the Holy spirit on Jesus it was in the form of a dove representing it comes from above (God) not from the water below

The original question is where in the New Testament did Jesus Baptize with the Holy Spirit. John said he would, but when? I thought that was when the day of Pentecost came. Acts 1:5 tells that not many days hence they will be baptized with the Holy Ghost. How was the the thief baptized with the Holy Spirit if it did not come until Pentecost?

To believe and repent is to be baptited with the holy spirit this is the message of the New Testament. Jesus would have offered the same to all in the Old testament after his death

In Luke 13:3 Jesus said, "unless you repent, you too will all perish." and in John 3.3 He said, "... no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." So, if you have repented of your sins and asked Jesus to be your Lord, then you will know the Holy Spirit's presence in your life as He brings conviction of sin, guides you in all truth and brings glory to Jesus as stated in John 16:8-14. Hebrews 12:14 says, "without holiness no one will see the Lord." The Holy Spirit's presence enables us to walk in holiness and that walk is our absolute assurance of salvation.1 John 5:3 says, "This is love for God: to obey his commands" and 1 John 3:23 says, "And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us." As the Spirit cleanses us from sin, God's command to love Him and our neighbour becomes a reality in our life. Romans 13:10 says that, "love is the fulfillment of the law."

So all the Old testament saints were baptized with the Holy Spirit after his death. Where is this in the scriptures?

It does not say in Luke that he was baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Do you not understand that once you accept Christ as your savior and repent you are baptised with the Holy spirit there is no physical sign it is your spirit that is awakened in you. This makes you a new person wanting to walk in the way of Christ. It is like taking a breath of fresh air There is no outward sign it is an inner transformation a change in ones heart if you willChrist died for all sin past and present when you accept that you walk in Faith (belief in things you can not see)God has shown His love and says, "Repent and be baptised every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). The Holy spirit is the gift given upon belief and repentance this is not a a physical thing one can see or hear or smell its spiritual To be saved, go to God with a repentant heart, willing and wanting to be changed. Confess your sins and ask Him to forgive you and receive (ask) Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour. The Bible says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved...everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:9-10 & 13). The words you use are not important. God looks at your heart and, if He sees a heart willing to turn from sin, you will be saved the moment you ask and Jesus will become part of your life, to strengthen and guide you.

Set free I think what Kriss is saying here is that you dont always need water for baptism. Thus , the thief on the cross and the dove desending on Jesus . the dove was the holy spirit. God knows how we think, the water is a symbol. what do you do in water? You get clean. Right? If your hot you take a swim. Its refreshing and renewing. I believe that is why God choose water to represent repentance. It is also a nescesity for life- thus the living waters that flow freely from Christ. While baptism means fully emersed (baptismo) It is reguarding forgiveness of your sins. So when you repent. you fully turn from your sins. not half way , not except for , but fully turn away and then you recieve the holy spirit. Its easier for us to use the water because then we better understand. I beleive that is why Christ said baptismo. Do you kind of understand?

We need to make a distinction between two uses of the Holy Spirit. There is both the Holy Spirit IN and ON as used in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.In the OT the spirit fell upon the person. It was short term. It was for power. An example of this is when the HS came upon Saul and her prophesied or Samson when he tore down the pillars and killed the Philistines. (see Isaiah 44:3, Judges 14: 5 - 6, 17 - 21, 1 Samuel 11: 6, 10: 10, 16: 13, Numbers 11: 25, Numbers 24: 2, 2 Chronicles 20: 14 - 15, 2 Kings 6 : 17, Genesis 41: 38, Exodus 31: 3).In the NT there is a new usage. The HS came to dwell in a person. Jesus had the Spirit in him from birth (Luke 1: 35, 2: 49 - 52), but the HS fell upon him when he was baptized (Mark 1: 10). This was for power. It began his ministry (Mark 1: 12, 21, 23, 29 -30). In Luke 4: 18 - 19, Jesus says, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."See also Matthew 12: 28 and John 5: 19. However, if we want to be used by God to do his work then we have at our disposal the power of the Holy Spirit. This is there for the asking. All we need to do is to step out in confidence and obedience as Peter did. Like Peter we may be afraid. I don't think that he thought, "What will happen if I open my mouth and the words fail me when he first spoke to large crowds or what will happen if the lame man was not healed in Acts 3?" I prefer to think that he just trusted in God and as always God supplied what was needed.We can do things under our own power or we can do it under God's power. That is the choice. When we do it under the power of the Holy Spirit then our work will bear fruit. When we do it on our own we will only be a shadow of what we can be with God at our side.
