Hello fellow Christians- and all others.I just started a little side-study due to something that sparked my attention in my study bible.I was reading in Matthew 17:1-4....-------------------------------------Matthew 17 1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. (Another side-note, Verse 2 here may be what Jesus was speaking of in matthew 16:28?) 4Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. --------------------------------------My first question was...What is the significance of Moses and Elijahs' appearance here? Then I read the foot-note, which offered this explaination...Moses- Represented the old covenant and promise of salvation.Elijah- Represented the appointed resorter of all things.Interesting take on this, huh? Then jokingly- I asked myself..."what does Elijah and Moses have to talk with Jesus about?FOUND IT-Luke 9:31Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.I know most of you biblically advanced followers out there have already thought about this...but maybe theres someone who is seeing the depth of this scripture for the first time, like I did.Hope me and my study bible are helpful and true on this

It is also the idea of Many that this is a hint that these two Moses and Elijahcould be the two wittness's of Rev.Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

It is a great study Red While Christ was talking to these two men, Moses and Elijah, they spoke to Jesus while He appeared in His glory and of His crucifixion, that would take place in Jerusalem. This verse also explains verse 26. This tells us how they would see Jesus when He appeared in His glory. We are getting a peek as to how it will be after the crucifixion.

Hi Kriss,Glad to have you back. I Have heard from others that Enoch and Elijah were the two witnesses as neither of these have died. Have you heard of this if so what are your thoughts.

Matthew 16:28?Yeah, I mentioned that, but I was unsure what to think of it.You know some people try to say 16:28 is proof that Jesus gave an innacurate prophecy? So much misunderstanding...

Hi dgc thanks glad to be backYes I have heard that I dont think we will know for sure till they get here Malmakes it pretty clear that Elijah may be one the other we are left to guess I know many think it Enoch because he did not die. And we are told it is appointed once to die. So it is entirely possable. Others say it is Moses as he led the Hebrews to the promised land once before and there is nothing new under the sun meaning that what happened before will happen again.I have also wondered if it could be John the Baptist as we are told he came in the spirit of Elijah if it were John and Elijah you would have one who represents the Old testament and One who represents the New testament I often think it would almost have to be this way for a Jew would not listen to Christain wittness or a Christain listen to a Jewish wittness.

Matthew 16:28 "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in His kingdom."A lot of people have difficulty with this verse, . Jesus spoke of His crucifixion, and that He would rise on the third day, and when He rose He had His kingdom with Him. And all but Judas would see Him in His glorified body, the King of the kingdom. When Christ came out of the tomb, He became the King of His kingdom, and all those that claim the name of Christ are of the kingdom of God. The reason that Jesus did not say that all of them that stood there would "not taste of death" till they saw Jesus, the Son of man in His kingdom, is that When Judas betrayed Christ, the money was throne back at the leaders then Judas went out and repented. We know from The Acts 1:18 that they killed Judas after his repentance, for they not only hung him, but slit him wide open. "Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out." The religious leaders had the money, and it was the religious leaders that bought the potters field with the thirty pieces of silver, the price of a slave, and after they bought the field, they did their job on Judas. Many today believe the lie and traditional doctrine that Judas hung himself and slit himself wide open. This is why Jesus told the disciple that "some standing here", all but Judas saw Jesus Christ in that upper room, after His resurrection.
