We did it again. Christianity Board now has a new design in case you haven't noticed. We decided that the website needed to be more spread out in order to make the entire experience a little more easier on everyone. There are some minor glitches with post colors, and that will be taken care of as we come across them.Expect the first release of our Newsletter to be coming in the next week.

Did you design the skin and the logo yourself? If so, I am willing to bet it took a lot of time. You must be very knowledgeable in the area of web design. I have liked all your skins so far, but this one is the best yet.

Yes, I designed everything but the thread buttons which I probably will be redoing in the future. I just happened to come across them and they saved me time. Forum icons, all other graphics, and the actual skin were done by me.It took me a couple hours to get it all ready, but not overly long. I had an idea of the concept in my head and worked to achieve it. I'm used to this process though, I hope it becomes a good part of what I do for a living with my little company.

My problem is that I get an idea in my head but I lack the skills to make it a reality. I learn more all the time but the process is slow, considering I have a full time career, family, etc. I do enjoy it though. Just by looking at this forum, I would say you have a bright future in the industry of web design. Good job!

Thanks gibby, you're doing quite well over at Lampstand yourself given that its not in your career field.

Forums are much harder than sites to design, so don't feel bad. The problem with forums is you have to adapt to someone else's coding and thought process. Your design may go one way and the forum design itself may go another. Hence the reason most forums look nearly the same. If you're an amateur/hobbyist web designer and you're skinning a forum, you're doing quite well.

I am the king of cutting and pasting code.

I change a few values here and there also. I have learned that you can mess with tpl files, no problem, but if you mess with the php files and foul something up, nothing works and the entire site goes down. I have done that a time or 2.

Cutting and pasting is how you learn. Yep, in phpBB's case you have the TPL files that you edit for the look which makes it nice. Believe it or not, but vB is a little better because it has a built in ability to edit things. The problem with it, though, is that if you really want to change things you have to know the difference. However, you can change the basic looks without knowing much of anything. PHP is an entirely different beast. And thank you, lounge, for the compliment. It indeed was a change, I'm not normally a fan on the darker background but I really like this color combo.

I really like this new design.

Apart from a few non-fitting buttons and such, it's a+.
