Sabellianism IS BELIEVING GOD IS NOT OMNIPRESENT in any of those Roles or Manifestations or Modes. I BELIEVE HE IS PRESENT, I don't believe he is Distinct or separate from the Other Dispensations of Himself, Father, Son, Holy Ghost.I HAVE PROVIDED YOU SCRIPTURE THAT JESUS IS THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST. If you truly believe God and His Word, you would look up the Scriptures I provided for you Brother. Instead you are following a Creed instead of God's Way and True Institution of his Word. You're going to follow a dogma, the belief of a major Denomination that took THREE CENTURIES to finally put in place.I'm Tired of People saying Jesus is not the Father and Holy Ghost. Jesus is the Father according to Isaiah 9:6 and he is the Holy Ghost according to John 14:17. If that goes beyond you're head, I will pray for you. The reason, I'm using strong reasoning here is because if you Teach that Jesus is different from the Father and Holy Ghost, the people you teach and become deceived, their blood will be on your hands.EACH THING YOU TEACH IS A SALVATION ISSUE, cause you're adding or Taking away from the Word and it's Laity(The Holy Ghost, The Resurrected Jesus Christ). God Bless You Brother.Jesus Christ Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the Same Yesterday, Today and ForeverJesus Christ the Father Isaiah 9:6Jesus Christ the Son Luke 1:35Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit John 14:171st John 5:7 ..."these three are ONE".In the Book of Revelation, how many persons did John see at the Throne? Some people just will not take a hint! A quick google; In Christianity, Sabellianism (also known as modalism, modalistic monarchianism, or modal monarchism) is the nontrinitarian belief that the Heavenly Father, Resurrected Son and Holy Spirit are different modes or aspects of one God, as perceived by the believer, rather than three distinct persons in God Himself.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SabellianismMonarchianism, or Monarchism as it is sometimes called, is a set of beliefs that emphasize God as being one, that God is the single and only ruler. Their name came from their defense of the "Monarchy" or unity of God in a reaction against the Logos theology of Justin Martyr and the apologists, who had spoken of Jesus as a second god.Modalism (or Modal Monarchianism) considers God to be one person appearing and working in the different "modes" of the Heavenly Father, the Resurrected Son, and the Holy Spirit. The chief proponent of Modalism was Sabellius, hence the view is also called Sabellianism. It has also been labeled Patripassianism by its opponents because it purports that the Person of God the Heavenly Father suffered on the cross.http://www.theopedia.com/ModalismModalism, also called Sabellianism, is the heretical belief that God is one person who has revealed himself in three forms or modes. This is in contrast to the Trinitarian doctrine where God is one being eternally existing in three persons. According to Modalism, during the incarnation, Jesus was simply God acting in one mode or role, and the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was God acting in a different mode. Thus, God never exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at the same time, he can only manifest himself as one person at any specific time. Modalism thus denies the basic distinctiveness and coexistence of the three persons of the Trinity. Modalism was condemned by Tertullian (c. 213, Tertullian Against Praxeas 1, in Ante Nicene Fathers, vol. 3). Also known as Sabellianism, it was condemned as heresy by Dionysius, bishop of Rome (c. 262).

Those are some weak verses to prove your point, but I see what you mean. But what do you have to say about Jesus' baptism? All three were present. But what do you have to say about Stephen seeing the Son to the right of the Father?Maybe my view and understanding of the Trinity differs from some others- I believe they all have seperate purposes- yet they are one- only one God

Doesn't seperate purpose indicate seperate wills? One arguement for there being only One God is that the Three have One Will, that there is only One Divine Will, God's Will yet Three distinct persons.

I have always said We are made in Gods image we are three in one Body, mind and soul our true spirt bodies have a mind when we were created in the first earth age we had a knowledge of God we do not have in the flesh. We in flesh can not understand what we knew as spirtbecause we were made empty(without memory of our spirt mind) when we die we remember all our spirit body experiences and also our flesh experience but we are still us. God being God is able to seperate these parts of himself a concept we in the flesh have difficulty comprehending being trapped in this flesh vessel.God says I Am that I Am.One of our members wrote the following great explanation: we also have three parts; soul, spirit and body. When we were with God we were in a spiritual body and at that time we had full use of our minds, our brain. We knew a lot more than we do now in our flesh body. In our flesh body we only use a small percent of our brain capacity. When God became a flesh man, he "made himself of no reputation, or He emptied himself2758" G2758, κενόω, kenoō, ken-o'-o From G2756; to make empty, that is, (figuratively) to abase, neutralize, falsify: - make (of none effect, of no reputation, void), be in vain.As a man, he was 100% flesh man, but also, he was 100% God, but he "emptied himself", and took (2983) upon him the form(3444) of a servant,(1401) and was made(1096) in(1722) the likeness(3667) of men:(444) He was able to think with the limited capacity of a flesh, human. So He prayed to His Heavenly Father (almost praying to His Heavenly God-self) He was able to maintain those boundaries because He was without sin. If we would be able to get in touch with the full brain power we had when we were in heaven with God, we would misuse it.Phi 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Phi 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Phi 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Phi 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Phi 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Phi 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Phi 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. See several of these verses with Strongs numbers:phi 2:7 But235 made himself of no reputation,2758, 1438 and took2983 upon him the form3444 of a servant,1401 and was made1096 in1722 the likeness3667 of men:444 Phi 2:8 And2532 being found2147 in fashion4976 as5613 a man,444 he humbled5013 himself,1438 and became1096 obedient5255 unto3360 death,2288 even1161 the death2288 of the cross.4716 Tom

I DON'T BELIEVE THIS, WHAT PART OF ME NOT LABELING MYSELF ANYTHING, OR BELIEVE GOD IS ONLY ACTIVE IN ONE MANIFESTATION DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? I believe that The Way he Worked as Father in Creation, Son in Redemption, and Holy Ghost in Regeneration is the Same way he operated from the Beginning. Goodness! Do you not understand that? I'm not a Modalist! THE QUOTE I QUOTED SAYS THAT MODALISM BELIEVES GOD CAN ONLY BE ACTIVE IN ONE ROLE or Office, I BELIEVE HE occupies it ALL. Cause Jesus Christ is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Please stop labeling me anything. I consider it slander.

Unorthodox,Did not call you anything. Simply pointed out what many articles available to everyone says, that your view can generally fall under those labels. Am not sure why believing something that has a label should be considered slander when someone points it out. It would only be slander if it was not true. Modalism has many forms, Sabellianism being just one of them which your view appears close to. The view you are expressing is clearly Modalism, pointing that out is not a personal slander. You have said Jesus is a role or manifestation of God, that Jesus=Father=Holy Ghost. From the web:Modalism, also called Sabellianism, is the heretical belief that God is one person who has revealed himself in three forms or modesyou said 3 modes----> whatever else you would like to call it, that view falls into the above definition.Sabellianism (early 3rd Century) ModalismJesus and the Father are not distinct persons, but God moving between his "offices" of Father and Son.The Sabellianists taught that Jesus Christ and God the Father were not distinct persons, but two aspects or offices of one person. The three persons of the Trinity exist only in God’s relation to man, not in objective reality. Chief Opponent: Tertullian (who labeled the movement Patripassianism). Modern representations of these believers can be seen in the Jehovah's Witnesses as well as in the Pentecostal Oneness movement, and Jesus Only movements. The Jesus Only does not believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven (though they may agree to that), but rather the movement is based on One Person of God in Jesus. From another site: http://www.letusreason.org/Onenes7.htmOneness theology teaches that there is only one God. That God is numerically singular, and that Jesus Christ is that one God. David Bernard a Oneness Pentecostal and one of their premier apologists says, "Modalism is the same as the modern doctrine of Oneness." (the Oneness of God p.318 ) As we examine history we will see this is not so, today’s modalism is synthesized from diverse views held centuries before.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Is 6:3) Biblical Foundations for the Triunity of God Some critiques of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity say that it is reallyteaching 3 gods, not one. They say that God the Father + the Son + the Holy Spirit = 3 gods. Yet this is not a logical necessity. Instead of adding, why not multiply? God the Father x the Son x the Holy Spirit = 1 God. Why must addition be the criterion by which the doctrine is judged? It needs not be. Rather, the doctrine should stand or fall upon the Biblical revelation and proof, not human logic. Because the word Trinityis never found in the Holy Bible some wonder about whether this is a Biblical doctrine or not, but the absence of a term used to describe a doctrine does not necessarily mean that it is not Biblical. The issue is, does the term accurately reflect what Holy Scripture teaches or not? For instance, the terms Omniscient(All-knowing), Omnipotent (All-powerful),Omnipresent (Present everywhere) are not found in the Holy Bible either. Yet we use these words to describe the Attributes of God and no one can argue that God, for example...http://www.suscopts.org/messages/lectures/...ogylecture4.pdf

When I see Trinity, I will not accept anything less than Jesus Christ Being the Father, Being the Son, and the Holy Ghost. If you separate Christ from the Father, and the Holy Ghost, you might as well be a pagan, but I assume since you Love Christ and accept his Sacrifice and what he did, you're not a Pagan. You can't say Jesus Christ is not the Father, HE IS YHWH, the Creator, he is the Word of God, and he is the Holy Spirit also known as the Spirit of Christ. There is no distinction from Each so called Persons, when you say PERSONS you are acknowledging the Fact that he is different and Plays Different Roles. Which is why I always look to John 14:17. If the Father is in Christ and Jesus in the Father they are echad(Hebrew for One), which means Jesus Is the Holy Ghost. They All Play the Same Role, cause the Fullness of God was in Jesus Christ, we all know that Colossians 2:9, and all the Fullness of God was poured into the Men on Pentecost in Acts 2.How Can you separate any of these Persons and say they are distinct and play different Roles. I am an uncle, son and a Human, I occupy each titles, I play the Same roles in Each Title or Office. People with then say, Well God made himself into three, NO! He's the Same. 1st John 5:7 The Three are One, does it say the One is divided into three?!

Unorthodox,When Jesus was on Earth, do you believe he was God the Father, or was God the Father in Heaven? I think I recall you saying that God the Father was in Heaven while Jesus was on Earth, but isn't that "seperating" them, as you said we shouldn't do (pagan??)

Let me ask if God can know your heart and also know some guy in China's heart and be hearing my prayers, while also watching over Nations at war, How do you think it possable ?We are always trying to devine the trinity by our human explantion that would have to mean three persons if we do that then God can not be God he can not be in all places in all persons heart at once.If you want to keep him confined to our tiny flesh minds?? You have to come up with the athiest veiw that God can not be God What arrogance us humans have We will never understand this in our flesh period. All We can do is have faith in God and his Words. ONE GOD I AM THAT I AM. Thats all we need to understand how he became flesh and remained God the father doesnt even matter it is a mute point the fact is he did, for us.

puleeeez. So you do believe they were seperate - the Father in Heaven & the Father - even though he is called the Son, also on Earth. that's confusing. But whatever.I believe in the Trinity.

Yes the Holy Trinity is biblical. God the Father is the Head & Creator of the Universe, Father of all believers, Creator of all mankind. Jesus Christ the Son of God begotten of the Father concieved by a virgin through the power of the Holy Ghost who is the Great Comforter and Spirit of God. Jesus prayed to God the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the cross and in His earthly life. The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus and God the Father. They are three of One Substance and power!

The Nature of the Eternal God
There is only One God and He is the creator, designer, protector, sustainer, ruler, and father over all creation in the known and unknown universe. God is eternal, love, judgment, justice, righteousness, holiness, immutable, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. God is one but 3 in one substance. This ideology is known as the Holy Trinity. God is the Father “YHWH”, The Son (Jesus “Yeshua”), and the Holy Ghost. (Genesis 1:1-2)
The Father- He is the Divine designer, Author & Creator of all things. He is the God of the Old & New Testament and revealed Himself through numerous manifestations. He is the father in creation of all things but the eternal father through redemption by His son Jesus Christ to the believers. He gave his law to Moses and spoke through His prophets and priests in the Old Testament. (Matthew 6:8, John 15:8)
The Son- He is the eternal and perfect (dabar) word of God made flesh. All things were created through Him by the dunamis power of God YHWH. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost in the Virgin Mary and was born in flesh but with deity. Thus Jesus is human and divine. He is holy divine and perfect human. He came to be the eternal and complete sacrifice of atonement for the sin of all mankind. His death paid the price for sin, his life set the mandate for Christian and godly living, his resurrection proved Him Lord, and his ascension proves His eternal position at the right hand of God. He is the only mediator between God and man. He is the High Priest and Chief Intercessor of the believer. He serves as King, Priest, and prophet. He came as savior, and rose as messiah. He shall return as Judge and Redeemer. All that believe in Jesus the Christ shall be saved and not perish! (John 3:16-17, Romans 5:10, I Timothy 2:5,Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 5:10)
The Holy Spirit- He is the eternal and perfect Spirit of God the Father and Jesus the Son. He is the third person of the Holy Trinity. He is of the same substance, equal to power and glory with the Father and the Son. He is to be believed in, obeyed, and worshipped along with the Father and the Son. He breathed life into man in the beginning. The Holy Spirit was actively involved in the Old Testament by prophecy, musical talents, and the work of the priests, judges, elders, and leaders of Israel. The Holy Spirit convicts and converts mankind of sin and dwells in the believer and keeps the believer from the power of sin. The Holy Spirit anoints, ordains, appoints, calls, and consecrates believers to their God given ministry. The Holy Spirit is given by God for the equipping of the saints with gifts and power to witness, preach, teach, live, and minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He teaches and guides believers into all truth! The Holy Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, and leads the believer into holiness, love, and the fullness of Christ. The Holy Spirit develops and grows the fruit of the Spirit in the believer which are love, joy, peace, gentleness, meekness, faithfulness, long suffering (patience), temperance (self-control). The Holy Spirit bestows gifts upon the believer which are prophecy, diverse tongues, interpretation, gifts of healing, miracles, discernment, administration, teaching, preaching, and among others stated in the Holy writ. (Acts 1:8, 8:39, John 16:13, 1 Corinthians 2:10-16, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, 1 Corinthians 14:1-25, Ephesians 4:1-13, Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:12-17,Romans 8:9, John 15:5-12)

Ouch! No matter which side of the trinity doctrine one may choose to stand at, many sincere and genuine Believers have risked being accused of being 'heretics' or worse for centuries now because of it.
It seems to have become the barometer of a person's Christian legitimacy.
But that shouldn't be surprising to anyone. After all, even in this Forum, the mere hint at adoring Mary causes some to go-off-the-deep-end; not to mention Pre and/or Post rapture ideas ... even the Baptism of the Holy Spirit ... they all invite an accusatory stare from someone here.
We even have non-Jews in here boastfully attaching themselves to the word 'Shalom' for goodness sakes! :)
Anyways, the answer to the question, "What is the Trinity?", can only be found by understanding God's ultimate plans and intents for man ... through scriptural knowledge concerning the destiny of man.
Why do I say that? Simply because the first question that must be answered is: Who is Jesus?
Once we have a truthful estimate of who Jesus is, the matter of the trinity becomes readily evident.
Otherwise, we can debate this doctrine for another two centures and still come no closer to comprehending it in any true sense.

The dogma of the Trinity

The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion — the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another.

Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: "the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God." ...This, the Church teaches, is the revelation regarding God's nature which Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came upon earth to deliver to the world: and which she proposes to man as the foundation of her whole dogmatic system.

In Scripture there is as yet no single term by which the Three Divine Persons are denoted together. The word trias (of which the Latin trinitas is a translation) is first found in Theophilus of Antioch about A.D. 180. He speaks of "the Trinity of God [the Father], His Word and His Wisdom (To Autolycus II.15). ... It is manifest that a dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelation. When the fact of revelation, understood in its full sense as the speech of God to man, is no longer admitted, the rejection of the doctrine follows as a necessary consequence. For this reason it has no place in the Liberal Protestantism of today. The writers of this school contend that the doctrine of the Trinity, as professed by the Church, is not contained in the New Testament, but that it was first formulated in the second century and received final approbation in the fourth, as the result of the Arian and Macedonian controversies.

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15047a.htm

This is precisely one of the reasons I refuse to believe in the Trinity. It's a Roman Catholic Doctrine. And even they know it's not found in scripture (not that that stops them).

And no, no I don't say there is only one God either. There are people who say only the Father is God because of this:

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Yet still more strange, it's impossible to reconcile that, with this, calling Jesus the only wise God, and the Almighty:

1 Timothy 1:16-17 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

The King of kings, and Lord of Lord's is in fact a God. There are precisely the amount of Gods the Roman Church says there isn't:

1 John 5:7-8 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

The reason I posted verse 8, is to show you that this is not saying they are literally one (The Father, Word, and Holy Ghost), but they are one in agreement. Jesus explains this further in saying:

John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

If we are to be one, as Jesus and His Father, is Jesus stating that we are going to be literally one human being, like people say literally one God?

John 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

When Christ wants us, Him, and His Father perfect in one, he's not stating that Him and His Father are one God. He's stating that Him and His Father are seperate, yet im complete %100 agreement, the same way any Christian is supposed to be seperate from God, yet in complete harmony with God's will.

John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Jesus's prayer is that we may be one, as He is one with His Father. Not one God, but one in will, in agreement, in harmony.

Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

There is One Spirit (Holy Spirit), there is One Lord (Jesus Christ), and one God and Father (Obviously, the Father).

John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

The Word made flesh (Jesus) was God, and He was with His Father in the beginning.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 11:6-7 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

1 Timothy 3

John 14

9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
