The baker isn’t the only winner in the wedding cake ruling

By Kristen Waggoner
June 6, 2018 at 10:55 AM

Jack Phillips stands near a display of wedding cakes in his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colo. (Matthew Staver/For The Washington Post)

Kristen Waggoner, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, argued on behalf of Jack Phillips and Masterpiece Cakeshop in their case before the Supreme Court.

Government hostility toward people of faith has no place in America. The state of Colorado, however, displayed that sort of anti-religious bigotry in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. The Supreme Court finally weighed in, and its decision forbids the state from bullying people whose faiths teach them that marriage is the union of a man and a woman.

This ruling has set back the Liberal Homosexual Agenda 50 years!

"Supreme Court Opinion In The Article Link, A Must Read", WOW!

A 7/2 Victory, Justice Ginsburg And Sotomayor Were The Only Disenters.

They Ruled, Religious And Philosophical Views Are Protected Expression, "Huge"!

The State Of Colorado Was The Bully, As Homosexuality And Same Sex Marriage Are Biblically Condemned As Immoral To The Christian Jack Phillips.

This will effect untold areas of conservative life against the homosexual agenda being pushed on them.

1. LGBT public school curriculum
2. Religious Orgs Hiring Homosexuals
3. Secular Employment, And LGBT issues, Christian objection to LGBT training.
4. Public Vocal Opposition, Based Upon Religious Belief.

And another 100 could be included!

A Victory For The Christian And Conservative!

Thank You Lord Jesus!

"Actually, not a "win", at all. The only thing that court did was tell the Homosexuals that they need to select another basic complaint, and not use "religion" just yet... That is, not until they can get "religion" declared a crime.

That's the part I'm afraid is just on the horizon.

I disagree Willie, a Huge Victory In Case Law For The Religious Conservative.

The Opinion Is 100% Written For "Free Speech" And 1st Amendment Religion Has Prevailed Over Sexuality, "Precedent Has Been Set"

As a great man likes to say, "We'll see what happens."
I spent time to read the opinions, they decision was veiled in Colorado's hostility towards religion?

When you read the Opinions, "Protected" 1st Amendment Religious Speech Has Prevailed Against "Protected" Sexuality.

Huge Precedent In Opinion, Against A State Agency "Religious Hostility", And Apellate Courts.

True words...and indeed 'it is coming down the road'...So many of my CHristian friends seem blind to this..or closed to this...but, it is coming.
Let us enjoy our days of freedom!

But then again...when they do get religion ( Christian) declared a crime ..what they don't know is that it's power is inward not outward...
The Kingdom inwardly is great always than that which is seen outwardly.
We advance on our knees.

This is getting so complicated.
Does every business person have to check out the lifestyles of their clients.
Some people think tattoos are ungodly.
Does that mean I can't supply a tattoos shop with supplies?
Or how about buying a new vehicle from a dealer who is a homosexual?
Where is the end of all this?
If you produce a product, are you always having to check out where it's going?

I know, I know, this was a wedding cake for a homo wedding.
If two guys want to get married, I know it's wrong, but it's their business not mine.

I know this is controversial, but not worth to have your business go bankrupt over.
That would do more harm than good.

If they were shut down, they could not do any more church cakes, lol.

Grace, You ave Reason To Be Concerned In Canada, As The Liberal Left Is Prevailing At Every Turn.

Religion Was Upheld And Protected, Look At The Truth Of The Matter In The Opinion.

"Supreme Court Opinion Statement"

"We as a culture would do well to cultivate tolerance for good-faith differences of opinion on same-sex marriage. Colorado is particularly in need of that."

As the Supreme Court observed in its opinion, the state was “neither tolerant nor respectful of Phillips’ religious beliefs.”

The court’s decision announced that the government was wrong to punish Phillips for living according to his beliefs about marriage. Those beliefs must be respected. Let’s hope government officials throughout the country get that message.

If you lived in Southern Calif you would have a different opinion I'm sure.

The Homosexual community has rammed their agenda on the conservative, parades, restraunts, etc "In Your Face"!

The homosexuals knew well he was a Christian baker in opposition of Same Sex Marriage.

This ruling sets precedent for several other rulings in progress.

The Homosexual Agenda is on the turn around.

Think again.

This ruling will be read that: A business that serves the public can discriminate against anyone that they believe is contrary to their religious beliefs.

Now when Christians and other non-religious people become a minority in the US, they will feel the heat when people of another religion (Islam) etc, turn them away.

Can someone explain why in the world any homosexual would want a person who detests their lifestyle to bake them a cake that they will actually put in their mouths? Didn't they watch The Help?

They are already becoming a minority even though the census figures might say otherwise. The problem is that "Christianity" has already been redefined and the definition is continuing to change moving away from what Jesus is. Those who go with the changing definition will find themselves in delusions thinking they are loving the truth while actually they are moving farther and farther away from the truth. Likely when the world comes down really hard on you and me as true believers [hopefully for our sake] in God and His Way, we will not be called Christians, but "heretics" because we will be refusing to go along with the ways of the redefined Christians.

That's right.
Just because it's a bus. catering to the public does not give any one the right to be abusive.
I have ran my bus. since 1976 and in all those years I have some dandies come into the office....
I kicked a few out every year and told them to go to the competition.
The best way to bug your competition is send them the rotten lousy clients.
After all these years I can usually tell in the first couple of minutes what I'm dealing with.
The best customers are repeat customers. We treat them like gold.

Excellent and true words John. Well said.
