How is metal music "evil?" Any music can have evil lyrics. Doesn't that make all music like "oil" just the same? So maybe there shouldn't be any "Christian" music... Ya know, there can be evil books too. Let's get rid of the written Bible. Otherwise we're just letting God's Word be another book mixed in with all the books on witchcraft and such... While we're at it, there can be evil people. Let's just all die so we can be Christian. Who's with me? Water and oil don't mix.

Just teasing... I know what you mean Aleks, but I don't think the metal genre of music isn't "evil" in itself. Would you agree? If not, can you give me some insight? I don't understand. I don't listen to it. I actually kinda think it's hard to listen to for more than a few seconds. I just also don't know why it's considered evil just because some of the more popular worldly metal bands tend to oppose the Lord.
I agree there should not be any "christian" music. AND YOU KNOW WHAT! That day is coming. IN HEAVEN. There we will not see any "christian" music. there will be just CHRISTIAN music. melody to our ears. One man said he heard the melody that was in heaven. And he heard it for three months night after night after he heard that music. He heard it in his sleep. Talk about music ehh. I would not suggest to get rid of the Bible. I would suggest to seperate the light from darkness. In fact, until Jesus comes there will be evil in this world, more and more day by day.God did NOT create the darkness. Darkness itself is voidness, emptiness, nothingness, space. It is told in the Bible Genesis 1:1-5 KJV1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. So my suggestion. Seperate darkness from light, good from bad. And take the good stuff that God likes and that will strengthen your spirit. Honestly metal music (i can't stand it) it does not make your spirit feel good. Some say it will but that is just deception. It puts pressure on you right from beginning.Pick out the good cherries. God be with us and give us wisdom to what is right and wrong so we can know the right. and do the right.I can see your point Zail. It is very interesting to look and see in the Bible what SIN is?I mean SIN itself is Evil. what makes SIN evil? What would make SIN unevil? nothing right because SIN itself is anything that God does not like. Lets put it with metal music. Look from the standpoint of God. Did He send it to you? or someone else? If it is someone else other than God, who is it? Metal music in itself is evil because it is sent not from God, but from the devil from hell itself. The reason of God not liking metal music, makes metal music evil itself. If God rejects it. Shouldn't we? God is peaceful. Holy Spirit came down on Jesus looking like a dove, not like a vulture. Blessed are those who make peace, for they shall be called the children of God. Metal music shakes me up inside if I hear it. I need big ear plugs, otherwise i may go deaf, (that is just saying about the job i worked at, so i had some problems with employees about that metal music.) PS. I think we should burn the witchcraft, evil, unchristian books. Paul did that, why not we? as long as people do it WILLFULLY it would be great. We can only classify good and right, light and darkness, only in one way. What God likes and what He does not. God is Light, Truth, Way, Love He is pure. So it means there is no evil in Him. SIN is anything that is lawlessness. Who made the law? being honest here. wasn't me
smile.gif
. Let's all be Christian not "chirstian" but until God comes the tares and wheat will grow together. God will seperate in the end everyone. That is just the Biblical take I see. Pick what pleases God. God gave us Christian music. It always strengthens the spirit. Fills your heart with grace.Metal music don't fill me with grace. Anger mostly, (at that metal music). Be Blessed Zail.

Hey, thanks for writing back. My problem with your thought process is that you are decidinig what God rejects. You decided that metal didn't come from God. You decided that it's evil because you don't like it. When did the Father or His son ever say the metal genre of music is "evil" and sent from the devil? God gave us the components to create whatever kind of music we want, and express whatever we want, however we want to express it. The lyrics of a song, on the other hand, is where I would judge beween "evil" and "christian" music, not just on the style of a song. Otherwise, I could use your same explanation to say that we should get rid of anything else man-made (cars, computers, buildings, toilet paper, glasses, pencils, ect., ect.). While God didn't say "here, take this metal music", He also didn't say "here, take this Christian music". I agree that we shouldn't subject ourselves to things that make us miserable, but just because metal music affects you negatively, doesn't actually mean that's true for everyone else. Enough of anything has a bad effect on us. Certian "Christian" artist's music bugs me. Just because how it sounds, I actually get cranky if I listen to enough of some of it. I'd be a loon if I called their music "evil" though. We don't get to call things that we don't like "evil". God looks at the heart, not at how man percieves things. Let me know what you think about all that. You be blessed too, bud

What do you mean? We have christian music, we can listen to it. I heard a poem said under beatiful music not too long ago, almost cried, I had tears. Then there was a song tied to the poem. And boy was it marvelous! it lifted my spirit and filled me with grace. There was a song I heard (with music) about "HOLY HOLY THE LAMB OF GOD IS HOLY HOLY" Boy I have never heard a song that great! with music and words. It was like it came straight from God's throne. NOW THATS Christian music. If it fills you with grace, compassion, love (but not the immoral love, but love of God) it is good music. If it shakes your insides, have to close ears because bass is about to take my hearing from perfect to near deaf. If it makes you angry and fills you with aggression, BEWARE OF EVIL MUSIC!

I would like to submit that it is moreso the person who wrote the song and who performs the song that brings the "evil" aura to it. Think about how the whole camp was punished due to Akin's sin of having an idol in the camp. The same happened with Rachel. I fully believe demonic presence can be brought into the room by bringing in not just evil people, but evil objects; including music. So... be careful. I think if we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we will know the difference.

No Genre is "evil." The composer and lyrics can be evil. I don't know how one can literally say that a harder and louder beat makes a song evil if the lyrics are praising God.Before anyone jumps down my throat, I don't listen to Metal. It is a little too hard for me now. I listen to Contemporary Christian Music, just clarifying that I do not listen to Metal and I don't believe it is evil.A Metal song CAN be evil. A Metal song CAN praise God. But Metal isn't evil.

You know, there's a metal song with almost those same words... Yeah, I agree, it was "like it came straight from God's throne". It IS Christian music, isn't it? Glad we agree. I thought you were just ignoring my last response to you, but you were actually agreeing.
wink.gif
That's because we both know that a song with those kinds of lyrics is a Christian song. That determines the label of "Christian" or "evil", not the sound of it.
wink.gif
Otherwise, we'd all have to look gracful and float around on Earth like charming little angels before we'd be able to call ourselves Christians. Right? Again, God doesn't look at what man sees; He looks at the heart.

"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2. One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4.Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.5. One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God."Romans 14:1-6 :bible:Ok, guys, I've been there. I've seen these Christian Metal bands in action... They are doing the Lord's work. Some of you guys hate anything metal. That is TOTALLY FINE. For some of you, it makes you stumble. If this is the case, PLEASE STAY AWAY from it. But please, put your criticism away --- you frankly do not have the authority to criticize your brothers'/sisters' work. Only God does. :naughty: Lets take a look at Christian Metal and see what it talks about:1. The COLD HARD TRUTH about America and the American church.Band: O.C. Supertones -- One Voice "Are we less like a family, and more like a fist-fight?Are we there, but not quite Are hypocrites children of light?" (talking about the church body) Band: Barren Cross -- Killers of the Unborn (Nuff Said) Band: XL and Death Before Dishonor -- Sodom and America"I'm not saying its all over for the Red, White, and Blue. BUT, if things don't change, man I'm tellin you! Its all over for Sodom and America!"2. The MIGHTY GodBand: Barren Cross -- King of Kings"He's the King of King's! THE MASTER OF ALL THINGS! The POWER and the SOURCE! The EVERLASTING Lord!".3. Spiritual Warfare (big time)Band: Deliverance -- Weapons of our Warfare"To take dominion over satan's own ground! RISE UP, with the sword of God and keep your ARMOR ON!!!!"4 and on and ON AND ON!How is this similar, in any way, to the likes of metal bands like Slayer or Disturbed and other such God hating metal bands? In all honesty, the fact that Christian Metal is shunned by "mainstream Christianity" is shameful. You know, these guys who are in the Christian Metal ministry really have no help from the church. They are hated by Christians because they are metal, they are hated by the metal crowd because they are Christians... This represents a church outreach failure of monumental proportions. These Christian Metal bands are like a small candle in an ENORMOUS, black, and dank cave -- a lifeline. They are trying to minister to people who DO NOT know God, in ANY way. For many of these metal heads, they may be the ONLY Christians they will get to know in their lifetimes. Isn't that kind of sad? Lets look at an example:Did you know that Alice Cooper is now a Christian? (Google it, I can't post the link)One thing that Cooper has been saying is that he is a shining light to heavy metal artists like Ozzy Ozbourne and Marylin Manson. Heavy metal rockers ask him questions about Christ all the time. HAVE YOU ever ministered to Ozzy Ozbourne, have YOU ever shared Christ with Marylin Manson? probably not.So, please, pray for them, even ask God to correct them (if you genuinely believe they are not doing God's will), but don't just blindly criticize God's servants.

I do know this. I would rather my children listen to pretty much any genre of Christian music than to listen to "worldly" music due to the trash that is allowed on the airwaves today. Lord, help us! How in the world have we strayed so far as a nation away from you? It is so scary that music with suicide lyrics would even be acceptable as a societal norm. I know, I know. People would be screaming, "Censorship! Freedom of speech!" What about preservation of life? We have gotten so backward in this country. Life isn't precious anymore and we are paying a big price because of it.

Old Time Christian Gospel Hymns, that enough for me.Metal was more into the world stream and satanic influence. You here this alot don't mix oil with water. It won't mix.You see these heavy metal singers and hard rock christians singers making lots of money, distorting the old christian gospel hymns, that's a shame. IT's like what Elvis Presley did. He was a pentecostal and look what he sang about and how his life ended.Stay to the Original, but I agree it's with the heart. But I also think it's important to know the roots of the genre.

I still listen to Gospel music. it's just that im addicted to Metal music soo much and i just love it. So do you mean i'll still go to hell unless i stop hearing metal? because i do not want to quit hearing metal music but at the mean time i dont not want to go to hell. Anyone else could help me out?
Hello DevotedChristian,It is nice to see conviction in action.May I say if you belong to Christ, "you are Not going to hell." The Holy Spirit is working in your life to conform you to the image of Christ, He knows you and the desires of your heart. Stay in the word, pray without ceasing, attend your church and continue to grow in the Lord. You will gradually loose the love for the things that are in your life that are not for a Christian. I do not mean to say, everything you do that opposes Christianity is ok, Stop the things you can, and rest in Christ knowing He will strengthen you and by His grace will lead you out of the things you struggle with. He promises to never leave or forsake you. He knows you, knew you before you were even born, and He has called you into His glorious kingdom, He is not surprised with you, His plan for your life is perfect. Continue to run the race, and may the peace of Christ be with you.Keep in mind, if the lyrics are satanic or explicitly in opposition to Christ then it would be good to get rid of it, and pray about it. Why would a Christian want to listen to this type? May God richly Bless You,Elf.

You say you are addicted to metal music. It sounds like a materialist obsession to me, and I'm sure God would have an objection to that.Maybe you should pray for help in moderation. You don't necessarily need to stop listening to it altogether, but perhaps you could just break the addiction to it.Follow me?God bless.

There is some Christian Metal, my kids listen to it, but if you look at the words they are very full of praise for God.Try DC Talk, Pillar, Disciples, Switchfoot, they have some rather interesting songs, My favorite would be Jesus Freak.

I got saved very young I think I was 10 or 11 then backslided very badly, but 2 weeks ago I preyed a serious preyer to God of repentance and confessed my sins...I was really into Rock music and was hooked on Stone Roses music a Manchester band, while must of there songs is harmless there is a few songs with real evil ungodly lyrics...One of there songs lyrics are "I dont need to sell my soul he is allready in me"When a christain friend told me the lyrics I was shocked to hear wot I was listening to...And listening to while on all sorts of Drugs.Since I have confessed my sins it is amazing what God has done for me I dont have the seem desire to listen to such music,or take Drugs or watch porn..I still have long way to go,but how I have chaged so far It is surely by the power of the Holy Sprit.

I will prey for you devoted ChristainI would ask anyone who reads this to prey for me in the name of Jesus to help me keep on track...
