Hello to AllI am new here. I have many, many questions that I hope to find answers too. I am a Muslim convert, but after three years...have decided to back away from Islam. It has been a difficult and heartbreaking decision and one that I hope to overcome. InshAllah(God willing) you all will be able to help me...to help me find answers to my questions that have been troubling me for a long time now.(to have my curiosity put to rest)I am not here to challenge anyone to the teachings of Christianity. I am simply here hoping to be lead to the truth-to God. Hoping to have my heart at peace once more.I would also like to say that any and all who read my questions to please, please forgive me and know that I do not in any way mean to offend. My questions will be genuine and from my heart and though it may seem ridiculous to you at times, or may arouse anger in you...please remember that it is something that I am struggling with inside and need to be shown the correct way.So I ask for patience, understanding, and help in my time here. Please!Thank youGod Bless

Thank you so much for the welcome. I hope to make it clear in my questions that I am seeking truth and answers and not trying to plant seeds of doubt in someone's mind. Will you be so kind as to tell me what Bible is a good one to buy?I hear of so many versions and am confused.Thank you again.

Welcome! I am new to this site also. I personally would pick up a King James- Red letter edition or the New King James Version- Red letter edition. Some people find it hard to read with all the thou’s and thy's but I find if you take time, pray, and read slowly it is beneficial. And you can pick up a Strong’s concordance give you a clear description of something if you get stuck.I wouldn't recommend an NIV (New International Version) because it has removed the follow scriptures: John 5:4, Acts 8:37, and 1 John 5:7. Mark 16:9-20. I will say it (the NIV) usually places the verses at the bottom of the page in the footnotes. But I don’t feel that does it justice, I feel the verses should be left in the original text.Hope this hasn't aroused more questions than answers. If you still are confused on which Bible to buy I would recommend praying about it and God will bring to your attention which Bible is best.

I have several versions of the Bible. Why don't you start a new thread and ask the forum about the different versions. I am sure you will get some good responses.

English Standard Version (ESV) is what I use, it's a lot easier to understand. The omitted texts did not at all destroy the message of the Bible, which is about man's salvation.http://www.esv.org/Welcome to CB

Hey curiosmind,I am quite glad I took the time to read this post, as I too come from a Muslim household. I am sure my name gives that away, hehehe. Both my parents are Muslim, so I know what it is like to have to make difficult decisions. I was 23 when I became a Christian, and am now 26, so I am still pretty new. Oh yes, I would recommend the Holman translation, as it is pretty accurate. Anyways, I hope to see you post many questions here.Toodles!

WOW! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. Thanks also for the tips on what Bible to get. I have borrowed one from someone and it is the NIV version, but tonight I will go get another one. My own....my first one! I feel silly sometimes at my ignorance about Christianity because my parents were both Baptist. They just never taught me and my siblings about it. I will definitely try to come back and post a question tonight. I must say that I already feel welcomed and it's really comforting. As for you Mr. Dawood...prepare yourself for some questions from me. I was very excited to see that you were from a Muslim family, perhaps you can clear up alot of confusion for me. Well, again...MANY THANKS to you all. May God bless you!
